I asked for the paper sleeves for the wine I was buying today and was told I'd have to pay extra for them. This is the only liquor store that I know of that charges extra for the paper sleeves. I opted to leave the wine and go elsewhere because if I'm spending close to $80 I shouldn't have to pay extra. I could understand charging for plastic to try to keep folks away from needed them, but these are recyclable bags. I use to buy from these folks pretty much every week, now someone else will get my money from now on. Doesn't seem like great business sense, they lost the sale to me today and all future sales because I won't be back.

Similar prices with most other liquor stores and great service and attitude. Very clean and organized. They do cash return for recycled bottle that are bought as their store like some others ones too. They carry my favourite brand's sparkling sake and a few good prosecco and one of my top choices are Lamarca. Their beers have a lot of unique and interesting labels and package designs. The have a few very nice strong and bitter beers as well. Lots of parking spaces and a safe area and bus stops at walking distance.

A couple of years ago, while visiting family in Alberta, I stopped into a Liquor Depot in Edmonton…read moreto buy some wine. At the checkout, the POS terminal crashed mid-transaction. The clerk apologized and re-entered the transaction. It went through the second time. But I kept both receipts, just in case. Sure enough, when I got my MasterCard statement a few weeks later, I was billed for both transactions. Now back at home in Coquitlam, I sent an email to the manager at the Liquor Depot in Edmonton where I had shopped a few weeks earlier. I scanned and sent a copy of both receipts and my MasterCard statement. He replied within hours, apologizing again, and advising me that if I went to the nearby Coquitlam Liquor Depot location on Barnet Highway, I could get the refund processed on my MasterCard. So I went down there the next day. It was the first time I had ever walked into the place. As was I explaining the situation, the clerk politely interrupted me and said they were already expecting me. She again apologized for the bother, and processed the refund at once. What had just happened? Frankly, this level of customer service completely floored me! That was my "introduction" to the Liquor Depot on Barnet. I've since become a regular. The customer service has consistently been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without being pushy. Just one example: this past summer, we bought several bottles of an inexpensive table wine from the Okanagan. Two weeks ago, I had the idea to buy some more, but couldn't remember the name of the wine. Well, all I had to do was give the clerk a rough approximation of what I thought I remembered the name of the vineyard was, and she said, "Oh, yes, you mean this one right here...." Excellent service, but also very good prices, comparable to BC Liquor Store prices, and sometimes even lower when they have a promotion. Definitely better prices overall than other private liquor stores I've shopped. The general selection of wines is good, though not great (I focus on wines only because we don't drink a lot of beer or spirits). A lot of the same labels you see at BC Liquor Stores, but several others you don't, including one of our very favourite Oliver vineyards, Silver Sage (although, regrettably, a very limited selection from this wonderful winery). Parking isn't the greatest at this location, but I don't mind. We shop here regularly--definitely our favourite private liquor store!

A good idea I thought, decent prices on some grog I like, and we were heading nearby, via a car, so some easy shopping before lunch. Yeah, right ... no such luck!!! Two of the three products I was seeking were not on the shelves - the shelf cards indicated where the products should be, but the spots were empty. The third product was there, but was listed at full price!! Ok ... time to seek some staff assistance. After talking to the two staff persons, and getting the "we do not have, and do not know when we will have" crapola, I ended up accepting a 'rain check' for the two products they did not have - ignored the other, and we were out of there. Left to wonder - does getting these rain checks really help getting the actual products if/when they might come in? Seems all they could say was "call and ask". Thanks Safeway, I thought your liquor store was not for me when I went there the first time -- I know now those thoughts were on on-the-mark!!

I went in a couple of days ago and bought my usual box of wine (no judgement please ;)). Unfortunately, it didn't taste right. Something was off. I tried to exchange it twice. First time the manager wasn't there, second time the manager refused to do anything for me. I'm out almost 60$. He told me to contact the winery and maybe they would replace it. He has lost a long time customer. I shop at the Safeway there at least once a week but will now take my business for alcoholic beverages else where. I understand that government liquor stores will take back products that are not right but private liquor stores are at the judgement of the manager. The odds buying a product like this is very slim but beware taking a chance here. Once he has your money, you are out of luck.

It was a smaller-sized store, and the service provided was friendly, personal, and accommodating. The wine I was looking for was not out on the shelf -- was it sold out? or just had not be shelved? -- a clerk went back to the stock room to check for me - seems it was sold out. Hands down the friendliest staff in a liquor store I've encountered in the tri-cities. Oh! And they are above and beyond pet friendly. My dog had his picture taken and is on the kiosks at the front. He always loves the pets and treats too. This place has me going the extra kms past several other liquor stores to pick up any supplies I need and are well worth it.
