Some events are free and some have a fee so look on-line under Events for details and how to buy tickets. Since I am close to the Cambie store, I buy the tickets at the customer service counter. Friends and I will be going to 3 paid (reasonable like $15-20 per event) tastings. Last evening, we attended the Spanish Wine Tasting with Tapas and had a fantastic time learning directly from the winemaker/owner from Spain and served delicious authentic tapas from a food truck vendor, Boca'o. A fantastic mixed group with some beginners to experienced wine lovers. I also appreciate the small size of the room for about 20 people so felt like an intimidate gathering. For the price and experience, what a value. After the tasting, opportunities to buy the wines and have it autographed from the winemaker. The liquor store staff were also helpful in answering additional questions and where to locate other wines in the store for comparison.

They have a recycling area in the back, security guards watching so no one runs off stealing stuff. Parking is pretty good here, as you have the whole of the underground on the Safeway side to park, and walk a few steps and you are in here. Interesting design, as this is an older building, when you enter it's a regular door, with a handicap button, but when you leave, there is a big sliding door that goes sideways (so they must know people leave with shopping carts worth of booze). A good enough selection in terms of countries and regions for wine, as I said... your not getting signature store selection, but regular government prices. The big names, they got em, the smaller ones.. not so much. Considering the location of this one (hidden, a little) at least there is an option here. Just remember those hours of operation, and this is not private, so holidays.. this place ain't open!

In other words, it's not quite where the illuminated sign is, which is quite misleading. I had to walk around for a couple of minutes outside in the cold to find the entrance. The store is smaller than most other locations, and therefore so is their selection. As others have mentioned, the location at Kingsway and Tyne is a much better choice.
