He was very good…read moreat responding to text messages, worked us in quickly, and was flexible when Home Depot delayed our order. He was also very good at fitting the new AC into the space for the old one and ensuring it was sealed and weather proofed. However, when he finished the work, he left large boxes and packing materials scattered where he opened them and filling our kitchen floor and on the dining room table. He didn't do anything to organize the mess or break down the boxes. He said most of it was recyclable and he wouldn't do anything with it. Left us to clean up after he left and figure out how to manage and get rid of these large heavy boxes. Additionally, he had put the old AC on our deck. We asked if he would recycle the old AC and he agreed - charging us an additional $200 to take it. When he put it on our deck, it left piles of black (not sure what) that we had to clean after he left. Additionally, I had purchased a new bracket to support the new air-conditioner. He decided without consulting me to use the old bracket instead. (Hopefully it last for the long run!)

They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. We hired him to renovate our *original 1986* en suite master bathroom and guest bathroom and are SO glad we did. We knew our master en suite would be a challenge because we wanted to add a skylight, a wall-to-wall shower niche, and a tub-in-shower wet area. From the start, you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. Jose meticulously planned every detail; how to reframe around any wiring/pipes for the niche so it can support itself, installing a special drain that not only drains from inside the tub, but also surrounding the tub, sloping the marble floor tiles so the water flows to the individual drains, etc. etc. They were able to completely gut out the en suite, update some damaged framing, reposition/restructure a support beam, fully patch up some light water damage the bathroom had caused, and finish the job on time. He even figured out a way to add a skylight despite the complicated roofline we had. He was very informative every step of the way and I learned SO much. Cruz Construction was also one of the few companies that allowed us to supply finishing materials as an effort to stay under a certain budget for both bathrooms. We ordered all of the fixtures, tiles, grout, lights, toilets, shower doors, etc., but had a hard time finding the right vanity for our space, so Jose was able to supply a custom built one that checked all the boxes! He also supplied a very specific LED light strip for our special shower niche and the grey shower pan to match our floor tiles. Just very thoughtful details that made a huge difference. There were a few hiccups as expected with such a big project with so many moving parts, but Jose was great at correcting and following through on every detail. I also need to mention that they worked so CLEAN! They taped off our floors and stairs the very first day with some quality barriers and swept up at the end of every single day. A detail I really appreciated. Special shout-out to Alex, who was at our house pretty much daily for 6 weeks to lay down all the exquisite tile work and more! Including some before and after photos. As you can see, their work is impressive and if you're a decent project manager who wants to design and order you own finishing materials, Cruz Construction is a fantastic team to work with--you won't regret it. I was referred to Jack's Construction by Frank Lumber. Jack quoted me $1,600 plus staining to…read morereplace my door. I specifically asked if there were any additional costs, materials, delivery, anything, and he said no, everything was included except staining & sales tax. I got another quote, which was slightly less than his price, but given that he was recommended by Frank, I choose to work with him. When the door arrived he quoted me 4-6 weeks to install the door, I kindly thanked his time and said I would rather work with someone else as I would like get my door sooner than later. He said he can do it sooner and sent the door for staining. After the install, he handed me an invoice for $3,600 plus tax. When I questioned it, his story kept changing: * First he said it was for extra materials and delivery, the same things he told me were included. * Then he stated that the trim was so expensive and that he had to go get it. * Then he claimed staining alone was $1,800. I called the staining company directly. The actual cost was $900. At that point he continued being evasive and aggressive. He eventually offered a $400 discount off his inflated invoice. Needing the project done, hoping that I never have to deal with him, I paid $3,200 and moved on. We agreed on $2,500. I paid $3,200. The difference was built on lies. Avoid.

We replaced our 47 year old front door recently with a beautiful new clear fir door and relight. We…read morethrew Jack a few curve balls such as ordering the door with the frame painted as we were originally going to paint the door as well, but several people told us we should stain it instead as it would look much nicer. The door arrived with the painted frame and Jack took it to the vendor to have it stained for us. In the mean time, we searched for a paint that matched the door. When Jack brought the door back to us, the stain was too light. Not Jack's fault, but the staining vendor's. Jack went to bat for us and arranged to have the door restained. He even picked the door up at our house, again, and took it to the strainer. The stain was finally the right shade, and Jack brought the door back to us. He was always very gracious about having to make several trips. Ian did the door installation, and he did an amazing job, considering out house is 47 years old, and nothing in our house is plumb or level. The new door looks beautiful, and we couldn't be happier! UPDATE: Three years on and I can no longer say LYD's work was completely satisfactory. A few months…read moreafter the renovation we had a sewage-like odor in our bathroom. We thought maybe it was the toilet. We bought a new toilet and had it professionally installed. The plumbers didn't notice anything wrong with the waste pipe connection. For three total years the smell persisted. Finally we hired more plumbers specifically to diagnose this issue. They blew smoke down the vent pipe on our roof and the whole house immediately filled with smoke, indicating a major hole somewhere. They opened up the bathroom drywall while we watched and we all let out a collective gasp when we saw the issue (see picture). Seemingly one of the original workers sawed through the internal vent pipe from the sink leading to the vent stack and either didn't notice or covered it up. We have had no work done to that wall since LYD's work. We also have pictures of the fully opened wall as LYD was starting work and the pipe does not appear cut in the photos. So we feel confident saying this issue was caused by LYD.
