Because we sometimes work from home & having a desk in the bedroom tends to aggravate insomnia, we wanted to section off some space in the house to make a small office. After contacting several companies via either email or phone, we narrowed our options and asked 3 contractors to come by & discussed the scope of the project.
We picked Mr. Benavides from BB Construction to execute our vision b/c he listened to our requests, asked pertinent follow-up questions, and seemed like a go-getter. And we did not regret our choice. From the start, Mr. Benavides (I'm sure you can call him by his first name. We called him by his last name simply due to formality at the beginning b/c he was so polite & responded to our questions w/ "yes, sir" or "yes, ma'am) planned out the work by giving us a timeline/an expected finish date. Arrived on-time and informed us in advance of any deviation to the typical workday. I appreciated that he was VERY resourceful in finding people suitable for the appropriate work (i.e. any sub-specialty needed), worked fast but generated quality work (some of the tasks were challenging) and was willing to accommodate reasonable changes. Mr. Benavides & his team were also personable & tried to infuse humor in days that required fortitude or tested their skills.
The only thing I would forewarn is that if you are someone who has specific preferences (e.g. wanting a keyed vs. non-keyed door knob; or, requiring a window that opens to the left vs. right, etc.), simply inform Mr. Benavides ahead of time b/c he will buy the materials early in the project phase & you would want to avoid preventable returns/exchanges (we are not overly concerned with nuances, but we have friends who work in interior design & like items of specific brand, finish, and such). Over all, a great job! read more
