She made my family feel that we were heard and even invited us back. I have increased what was a 1 star review to a 4 because of her professionalism and ability to sound like she cares over the phone. This establishment is beautiful, convenient. they have an indoor and outdoor riding area. The barn even seemed to have lockers for owners. You couldn't want more in the look of this place.

I closely knew and watched Sarah run her business for two years. She is very unprofessional and…read moredoesn't take very good care of her horses or her customers. To start off the person that she rents the land from at 22828 156th is a slum landlord and he used to just dump human sewage out in the fields. Although we told Sarah this she did not confront the landlord about the issue, even after someone who used to work for Sarah called the health department but I think the landlord stopped doing illegal practices like dumping sewage in the fields. Because of the sewage in the fields and over grazing many toxic plants to horses had taken over. Depending on the time of year there are different toxic plants. During the Spring the fields were full of toxic Buttercup's, then right after the Buttercup's the field's were full of Mayweed, also known as Poison Daisy, Stinking Chamomile, or their scientific name Anthemis cotula. Also there were large amounts of Ragwort Tansy growing which were not disposed of properly so the plants would return even after being picked. I had asked Sarah about this and she didn't seem to, in my opinion, understand the dangers posed to the horses. I initially trusted her due to her years of working with horses, but feel now that she was reckless in this regard. She once told me that there were just too many plants to remove them all. Many of the pastures had no rain shelter and the horses were often left in the fields all night. The first year Sarah never kept the horses in the fields at night but then she decided that most of the horses should almost never go inside. I agreed with the assessment that the horses needed more exercise but she would leave horses out in lightning storms and when asked about it said that this was not an issue. In addition, more than once horses broke out of their paddocks and at least once went to the main road after breaking out. I do not believe Sarah that is doing a good job of running her business. Quite a few times I saw her lose her temper with her employees and her students. I have seen Sarah gossip about her students and their parents, and she can be really nasty to people when they have a falling out which happens often in my opinion. She got kicked out of the last place she rented for her business. Sarah claimed the lady was crazy and trying to steal her horses. I at first believed Sarah but I eventually stopped believing her especially since this other lady runs a very successful horse rescue. I also once saw her insult a little girl to her face and didn't let the little girl pet the baby horse even though she let the other children pet it. She also would bad mouth past students in front of her current students and one of her students confided to me that it made them feel uncomfortable. She allowed her rottweiler Louie to run around the property without a leash, a muzzle, or supervision even though he attacked a client's dog - which she was being sued for, and killed many cats and a neighbor's chickens. As well as growling and other aggressive behavior with some of the employees and students. In my opinion she offers poor service and when we left her barn we realized her cost was the same as many of the other places nearby. I feel that between her own riding career and her failing business she hasn't had the time or energy to properly do either well. I believe Sarah's business could succeed if she were to stop riding at shows and really focus on her business. Otherwise I do not have confidence in the long term success of her business.

I've been riding with Maya for two and a half years. I came to her barely knowing how to ride…read morewestern, let alone english. Today I have my own horse named Teddi, which Maya helped me choose. We are jumping about 3ft, and I love him more than the world. Maya is one of the most compassionate trainers there is. She is firm, and moves her students along, but knows when they need reassurance. She not only would do anything to protect the safety of her horses, but also watches over all the horses at the Charlottewood barn. There is no possible way Teddi and I would be such a successful team without her. She is a hardworking, and inspirational coach who will try her hardest to make you the best rider you can be. She is extremely experienced, and deals with all types of riders very well. There is VERY RARELY a person she does not get along with. Maya is extremely polite, sweet, and sensitive to riders, as well as their ideas, questions, thoughts, and concerns. When I very first got Teddi, almost a year ago, I could hardly canter around the arena with him. He is a very large, and powerful thoroughbred. I would ride him in a gag, and still have trouble working with him. Within a month I was jumping him. Within 3 months I was riding him with a softer bit. Today, I jump and ride Teddi on trails bareback. We ride in a hackamore now (a bitless bridle). I have a much stronger connection with him, as well as he does with me. None of this would be possible without Maya. She has led me to achieve all these goals. I'm so happy to have her as a trainer, friend, and role model. I couldn't be more blessed to have her in my life. Maya, thank you for helping me find my best friend, Teddi :) and thank you for being an outstanding, and understanding trainer.

Over the 3 months I rode in Maya Huberman's program there were 3 occasions when I arrived to find…read moremy assigned mount unfit to ride. Twice the horse (Griffin, white gelding) was obviously lame and I reported it as such, but it took days before Maya admitted there was an issue with the horse and rested/treated it for a suspected hoof abscess. The final episode was July 4, 2013 when I arrived to find the horse with a raw sore on his head (bite from another horse) right where the leather headstall would rub. Much to my dismay Maya said it was fine and that she'd been using the horse (Ashton) in lessons with no problems for 2 days already. To me it looked quite raw and painful, so I declined to ride the horse in that condition despite pressure from Maya. Finding myself arguing with Maya for a second time about the welfare of her horses was extremely upsetting. At this point I no longer want to do business with Maya or ride in her program, but I do want a refund of the July lease money I paid to her since no riding took place in July. Maya refuses to provide any sort of refund and no signed contract exists, so unfortunately I don't have much hope of ever seeing my money again. The last time I saw the horse (Ashton, palomino Haflinger gelding) was on July 4, 2013. The sore was beneath his left eye and was bad enough that I'm sure it will be visible for a long time. Decide for yourself if you think it hurt. UPDATE: After seeing that family wrote such nice reviews in response to mine, I thought I'd add to my feedback to say that Maya is a good instructor for beginners & children who won't question why a horse is limping or if something Maya does is right or wrong. That is why all of her students are children and beginners. Additionally, although my complaint isn't about her abilities as a riding instructor, I do question what Maya's credentials actually are since she refers to BHS training in her online bio and on her web site but does not mention a specific university or actually receiving a degree.

They legitimately care for you, and they make sure to prioritize safety of both the rider and horse above all else. About showing, they take care of shipping the horse (safely, i may add) there and back, which i really appreciated since i don't have a trailer or knowledge of how to operate one lol. Really unpleasant first call with Jackie who called me back irritated that I was inquiring about…read moreriding lessons for my children who would need school horses. Apparently, despite what is on their website, school horses are not their "thing" and they really aren't interested in people who only want to use school horses. My children are ages 6-10 and just starting out, we may be interested in owning a horse someday but we are just starting. After a 5 minute phone call with me trying to ask more questions about the barn she said "I really can't talk to you anymore, I have other calls." I don't think Vicki is probably a good representation of the rest of the barn from what I have heard about their trainers but this was a pretty terrible encounter.

I was extremely disappointed watching the poor handling of horses coming in from turn out on…read moremultiple occasions. Horses are brought in using a golf cart in groups of often three at a time. The horses aim to kick and bite each other and all the handlers do is yell at them. If that wasn't bad enough, I watched the lead stablehand lead a very gentle older mare into a stall and when she didn't go he smacked her with the lead rope on her face and she spooked and bashed her head on the overhead beam of the stall - he seemed less than concerned. When horses kick for dinner they throw brooms and other items at the front of the stalls. The stalls frequently smell of heavy ammonia. Horses are constantly escaping their turnouts. Running down fences, bolting out open gates and getting away from handlers with the golf cart. One poor filly even ran the fence and got in with another horse and was kicked, broke her leg and was euthanized. Horses will be horses but there are no changes being made. When these concerned were brought to the owner, she denied that her staff is hard on the horses and claimed her fencing was in working condition and safe. Boarder beware.

We were out of town for a while when the weather was hot, we got a call saying they suspected our mare was colicky, in our absence Kelly walked our mare and cooled her off until she felt better, then checked on her through the night. There have been numerous times that either her or Lisa have been available to help with an abscess or any number of injuries our horses may have managed to acquire. Top quality training is also available at GP- I have taken lessons from both Lisa and Kelly-I love them both!! For the time my husband I were there we felt like we were a part of one big family. Sadly we have had to move, but we take with us many fond and happy memories of our time at Greatful Pines.

Soft footing, spacious clean stalls, and a location on a very quiet street equal healthy horses and happy riders. Dressage Dancers has two trainers, both of whom have a few openings in their riding instruction calendars. In addition, Carol will be teaching two separate weeks of intensive riding camps for children this summer. Past camps included two daily individual riding lessons, horse-related crafts, baking, and other fun camp activities (including playing in the hose on really hot days!) I've helped Carol with students and horses at dressage shows and here in the arenas, and have also taken riding lessons here. You will learn the right way to here and you will always be encouraged to do your best and to enjoy your time with the horses. I'm so glad it's a low-drama barn; kids and adults alike can learn here in a supportive environment.

It was seriously the BEST PARTY EVER!! The kids were kept busy the entire time, they toured the farm, played games, rode horses and had the best time. I have gotten so many compliments on the party. My daughter said it was her dream come true!! :) I mean what little girl doesn't dream of a horse back riding party!? Morgan, Jessica and the other girls there are so sweet and absolutely amazing!! The farm is beautiful and it is kept immaculate, you can tell that everyone there truly cares and loves what they do! We are now taking riding lessons there and LOVE the program.
