Overlake Farm

Overlake Farm

The property is a treasure in and of itself. An oasis in the middle of a bustling metropolitan area and steps from 400 plus acres of groomed horse trails - no bikes! It is a fabulous place.

OLF was the right home for me and my horse Blu. He loved his big open stall and paddock and his turn out in lush pastures. The Farm has a really nice riding track, outdoor arena and round pen and is literally right across the street from Bridle trails state park--so easy to attend shows or clinics! While there is no covered arena for rainy winter days, I can say with all honesty that I never missed a day of planned riding due to rain. The park has tall trees which protect from the rain but still are wide open and bright. Dana and her crew take amazing care of all the horses. They have a huge herd that has 30+ acres to meander in and are fed on a track to make sure everyone has a place to eat and not be bothered. Having said that, horses will be horses and do hurt themselves from time to time. Dana keeps sufficient stall/paddocks available to use if a horse needs to come out of the herd for any reason. A young horse had torn the skin back on her knee requiring stitches. She broke her stitches open and Dana made extraordinary efforts to help with the care and treatment of the horse including installing a tether system in a stall. In the 3 barns I have been at, I have never seen an owner so personally involved and conscientious of a horses' well being. For the non-herd horses, turn out is all day for long hours not just a couple hours. Any reasonable request was met and accommodated. This is not a "show" barn although there are show horses there. Boarders are knowledgeable and friendly and happy to join on a trail ride. There are a number of quality trainers available and with 50+ horses on the farm, all the vets and farriers go there. Dana even built a new covered, flat area for vets and/or farriers to work out of the elements. No this is not the fanciest place but it was honest, warm, caring and welcoming and not only felt like, but was Home for Blu and I. While we are loving and adjusting to our home in the sun, we will forever miss and be fond of our friends and time at Overlake. 100% recommend Overlake as a great place to board.

Wrote a review when i moved in a year ago... updating it now…read more I was warned long ago that when you turn in your notice to leave the barn will retaliate. And I can attest that even when leaving in good standings, paying an extra month and following the rules... you get access restricted and treated like a criminal. Suggestion for anyone leaving: don't give notice. Pay what is due the day you take your horse and don't leave anything behind once you trailer your horse out. You will not be allowed back in once horse is gone, even if you are paid thru the month (or more). Indoor and Outdoor arena, 4 feedings a day, daily turnout when i first moved in, for 3 hours a day. Then pastures were shut down for 8 weeks and horses only got 15-20 minutes a day on a hot walker. Started looking for a new place at that point. Has access to trails, 3 wash racks, trainers and trainer access, and respectful friends to horse with! There are soooo very many rules, and I get that, for a shared space. Owners watch the cameras like a hawk and can be very petty and malicious.

There is no bedding provided for the rubber mats inside the paddock stall enclosures. Pastures are great in the summer but over used in the winter and become mud slick danger zones. The access to trails is to Farrell McWhirter Park (1 loop) and to the Powerline Trail (not the Tolt Pipeline). The boarders were nice and friendly. 2 great covered wash racks out by the paddocks but if the boarders don't clean them they are nasty. Do not recommend boarding there - the owner is a nightmare and has a habit of treating people worse and worse until they leave instead of having open honest conversations to rectify any differences.

Go Travel has forever changed the way I, well, go travel. After my experience with this company, I…read morewill never doubt the need for travel agents again. This is the second time we've booked hotels and flights with them and we are thoroughly impressed!! Our first trip was to Las Vegas in December, and Sofia (the lovely, dedicated owner) managed to find a deal for the W in Vegas (a 5 star hotel) for three nights, a concert ticket, and flights to and back from Seattle for under a thousand dollars. Upon arrival, we were greeted with champagne and free appetizers because this was their opening weekend. Apparently, we had gotten a beautiful (new) suite with all the amenities and two coupons for cocktails as well. Not what we were expecting for $150 a night! It was a phenomenal trip, which could not have been possible without Sofia's help. We checked back later, and found that our room would have normally gone for $300 a night! Our second trip was to Cancun in January, and she managed to score another 5 star hotel (all-inclusive, with drinks) for five nights, flights, and two day tours for under two thousand dollars. We had a private beach, beautiful room, and amazing views--but no outrageous price tag! When you book with Go Travel, you eliminate the stress of traveling and just get to enjoy the experience. We simply told Sofia our budget, goals for the trip, and preferences for flight seating and hotel style. Within an hour we had our tickets booked, itinerary ready, and a list of useful suggestions on where to go/eat during our stay. She even sent us reminders, made sure everything was ready upon arrival, and checked in on us during the trip to make sure we had no concerns. We saved at least 50% on travel costs, and a priceless amount of time and energy in booking with her! Never booking without Go Travel again!! Thank you!!!
