Dr. Douglas Magner is perhaps the worst and most unprofessional dentist I have ever had in my life…read more Not only is his "bedside manner" the worst as a doctor, he damaged my teeth so badly, I required TWO appointments from an emergency dentist and another dentist to completely redo his lazy work. Went in to have a cavity filled, only to walk into him screaming at the receptionist in front of patients. Could hear him arguing with a patient in the next room, and when he came to me (finally) I had to ASK for him to wear gloves please. I could tell at the time he was not doing due diligence on my mouth and trying to up-sell me on orthodontia (which I already have, and I still have the metal bar in my mouth...to which the dentist who ACTUALLY fixed my teeth asked WHY because my teeth look great) He completely botched my filling -- I ended up in an emergency dentist a week later, narrowly avoiding a root canal. And now, about a year later, I went to my childhood family dentist and he was horrified by what Dr. Magner had done to my mouth (so for the record, this is the SECOND appointment I had to have to FIX the damage that Dr. Magner had done to my mouth). In addition to the emergency procedure, I had to have the entire filling removed and redone because he had done it so lazily that there was a gap (so additional decay had been allowed to occur), and he had left some hanging over, resulting in me being unable to floss, jeopardizing the tooth in question and the one behind it. Avoid at ALL costs!

Prices are very fair and I've been coming here for over 20 years. I was referred by a friend after seeing a dentist in Merrick that said I needed over $12,000 of work done, but after getting a second opinion from Dr. Rosenzweig I only needed about $600.00 of work. He is an honest guy, well trained, and a real guy you can talk to. He accepts most insurance and if he can't do the work his referrals are amazing specialists that are just as professional and caring.

I've been going to him for several years, had multiple cavities filled, and am very happy with all of the results. It's calming to be in his care, rather then feeling tense, I feel at ease and completely calm. To add, his office is unlike any other dental office ive been too, it's not intimidating and filled with beautiful art work. But above his kindness and great work, what I appreciate the most about Dr. Saland is his honesty when it comes to what you really need done and what you do not. So many times I've been told conflicting information from other offices, and even recommended what seemed like unnecessary work, but not with Dr. Saland. Also when your sitting in his chair, he tells you everything he is about to do and or doing, he walks you through every step to ease the tension of the unknown. I couldn't recommend him more. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Debbie, the assistant, always makes small talk and really seems interested in your life and what you have going on! Dr. Ort is extremely personable too! Also, I have had dentists in the past where the assistant cleans - so it is nice that that actual, trained, expert is cleaning my teeth! He is very gentle, and will put numbing cream on before hand if I ask {also something hard to come by with past dentists!} I also had really bad problems one time with my gums and he squeezed me in two hours later when I was originally told I couldn't see him for at least 3 more days {did his best to help, but eventually recommended me to a periodontist who is also amazing I might add!} The office is tiny but intimate, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes, and you always get gifts when you leave (well, toothbrush, floss etc, I guess those are a dentist's versions of gifts, but still!). And they always send a birthday card - very considerate! Hit him up when you need your teeth spic-n-span!

Patience from a dentist is hard to find now that every dentist has multiple bookings and they jump from treatment room to treatment room. Dr Mathe has 3 stations set up but he only works with one patient at a time. Maybe they will prep the next patient in the next room but no back and forth. I have kids. One, which was terrified of the dentist, now goes without issues to Dr. Mathe. Previously he was afraid to open his mouth to other dentists. Dr. Mathe explains and talks to kids at their level and makes it a positive experience and is therefore able to actually do a proper cleaning and treatment. Give Dr. Mathe a try and you wont want to move so far away that you can't drive back for appointments. We have all new doctors at our new home but we kept our Dentist the same. I had done three root canals with Dr. Val Atsen at nearby City Dental, 11 Broadway, and had been in severe, worsening pain since 2022. I tried going to an endodontist Metropolitan Dental Associates (225 Broadway) but they were very unhelpful. All three of Dr. Atsen's root canal procedures failed, and he put the wrong size canal on all the infected teeth. A family member recommended that I see Dr. Elliot Schreiber. I went to his office at 42 Broadway. Dr. Schreiber referred me to an angel, Dr. Lauren D'Elia, at 111 Broadway). I have experienced immense relief since retreating two of City Dental's failed root canals with her practice, and will retreat the third failed root canal on 2/29. Dr. Schreiber also adjusted the crown on 14 in the interim so that I would be more comfortable. He is knowledgeable, compassion, detail-oriented, and caring. When Dr. D'Elia did the root canal retreatment, Dr. Schreiber stayed in touch with her throughout the procedure. When I returned to his office to update him, he had already spoken to Dr. D'Elia for updates because he cared so much. When I am done with the third root canal retreatment, I will get all my crowns redone with Dr. Schreiber. Because of him, the quality of my life has improved dramatically. I could not be more grateful or appreciative. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Dr. Schreiber and his caring team for getting my physical health and life back on track!
