Uxbridge Animal Hospital did an amazing job making one of the worst days of our lives a little easier. We recommended them to all the pet owners we know. We adopted another dog soon after, Charlie. Charlie was loved unconditionally and was treated with the same love that we give his 6-month-old (human)brother. He was outside all day every day with my husband- he spent a lot of time training him, he even trained him to track in the woods. We had a crate set up in our room for him, but he slept in bed with us every night. When we first got Charlie, he had very sad eyes. We were able to change that. Unfortunately, Charlie chewed on a piece of plastic that he shouldn't have. His chewing was actually our biggest concern during his last checkup. We bought him all sorts of chew toys, and I would buy him bone marrow bones from the butcher in hopes it would keep him busy. We tried to make sure he wasn't able to get anything dangerous, but accidents do happen. Charlie became really sick all of a sudden. We called Uxbridge animal hospital and told them it was an emergency first thing in the morning. They said they couldn't get us in until 4:15pm. As Charlie was getting worse, we called back in hopes that they would get us in sooner. That did not happen. We arrived a few minutes early to our appointment. We had to sit with him in our car 15 minutes after our appointment was supposed to start. We waited another 20 minutes in the room before we were seen. When the Veterinarian arrived, she diagnosed him with having a blockage based on the samples we brought with us. We were already heartbroken because we knew given our financial situation, we would have to make a decision we didn't want to make. The vet told us that it was going to cost upward of $5,000. I don't know anyone that has that money on hand-especially the way things are right now. When the vet said she knew someone that takes in animals and will pay for their surgery, but they will find him a new home after, we agreed. He had a whole life to live so we thought it would be the best option for him. The vet said it was a woman she knew personally that raises money so she can afford to pay for what Charlie needed. We specifically asked what our options were-we were never informed that there are grants we could have applied for or even a payment plan option. The next morning while our family was already having an extremely hard time not having Charlie home with us, I received a message from a woman that works for the adoption agency we got him from. She said "we got OUR dog back. How dare you surrender him because he needed surgery. I have placed you in the do not adopt list. You do not deserve another animal." I did not know that I would be discriminated against by this adoption agency because my family is unable to immediately afford a surgery of that cost. Especially when resources that could have helped were never told to us. If that is the case, then I suppose the agency should be looking further into everyone's finances before they are able to adopt. I was unaware that money is more important than being able to provide a loving home. I feel I was lied to by the vet about where he was going. I feel that the options that were given to us by the vet were misleading and information that could have helped us was hidden from us. We want nothing more than to have Charlie back home with us. I will NEVER recommend Uxbridge Animal Hospital to another person again.

There are not a lot of veterinarians who treat reptiles in the Worcester area, and I'm not sure how often they see reptiles in this office. This team of folks goes above and beyond for their patients and it is why many of the people that bring their pets here have been returning time after time for 20+ years.

This goes a long way in this type of practice. While I understand an immediate response isn't always feasible, i Am still sitting here, my animal now over the rainbow bridge with no call back.

She had not eaten anything for couple days and we agreed to an esophagostomy feeding tube placement as recommended when the creatinine level improves, hoping it would allow her to recover and go home. Unfortunately, the first surgery did not go well. We were told the tube was dislocated and that an urgent surgery would be required (additional $4k-$6k will be charged) After the first procedure, our dog was clearly in significant pain and required additional pain medication. Just two days later, she underwent a second anesthesia and surgery. Two times of anesthesias in 3 days for a senior dog were extremely hard on her frail body. After the second surgery, her condition declined rapidly, I visited her and she looked to have dementia which broke my heart. Later on, due to unknown reason, the hospital agrees to waive the second surgery fees. While we are grateful that her creatinine levels had improved with IV fluids during hospitalization, the complications from the feeding tube placement caused unnecessary pain and stress in her final days. She passed away shortly after. We understand that complications can happen, but the incorrect tube placement and the resulting need for immediate repeat surgery added considerable suffering to our dog. Though she suffered from the kidney disease and prancreatitus, she looked alert and conscious, after the second surgery, I could barely recognize her and her head went disoriented. Definitely looked like a dog with dementia. Better verification of tube placement during or right after surgery, along with more cautious consideration of anesthesia risks in geriatric patients with serious illnesses, could have prevented this. We are heartbroken by the loss of our dog. This experience has left us with deep regret. I hope this feedback helps your team improve surgical protocols and communication so other senior pets and their families do not go through the same ordeal

His office visits are not expensive, and he often has samples of heart worm meds, etc. He saved me about $50.00 in this medication alone to date. And, he has been there forever. Years. This is important to me, as I got so many word-of-mouth references from friends and neighbors. The exam rooms are clean, and the entire office is tidy and kept up well. Jack was neutered this past Monday... he was sent home with some puppy vicodin, and of course a fashionable cone for his little head. The incision looked good from day one. Hardly any swelling/bruising, and he was stitched up in a perfect straight line. Not that he would notice, but I was impressed by the care and patience taken with this. The nurses didn't want to give him back to me when I picked him up later that day... they LOVED him. He's back to his old self already, and one of the nurses called to see how my lil guy is doing! In the past my cat was a patient at Millis Animal Hospital located in the next town over. Over time I grew a little uneasy since every time I'd bring Cleo in there would be a new vet... a new nurse... a new receptionist... the turnover was a ton...

"He has a MASSIVE tumor on his heart." One week later, he is gone. 1k to put him to sleep. So today I had to bring my senior kitty, 17.5 years old. Needed a thyroid level check and BP check. $500. HUH? Oh, the doctor decided to do an XYZ blahblahblah test. Oh, really? Did anyone come and ASK ME? Nope! Absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Doc wouldn't come out to speak to me, but sent Miss NonBinary, who proceeded to tell me THEY are the experts and THEY know this, that and the other. But did they consult me? NOPE! Just give us your money because we decided to do these tests and we are the experts. AND we will not give you refills on your pet's medicine anymore. Oh, really... Well, let me apologize to the young woman checking me out, because I am sure she will have nightmares about me tonight. I told them straight up how absolutely disgusting they are for trying to pull that shit. As an aside, while I was waiting, an older gentleman came in trying to return prescription shampoo. Bottle still sealed. "Someone put this in my bag but I don't want it. I want to return it." Oh... you can't do that, sir. They wouldn't take it back. Gave him a hard time. Apparently this is a theme with them. They'll be sending me my records. Good. Doing me a favor. Not only are they absolutely scumbag sneaky thieves, they are grossly incompetent. STAY AWAY.
