Took my 12 year pup for her first visit to BaySide today. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

About 5 months ago my Chaweenie, Cassie suddenly became critically ill. She couldn't stand or walk and her head was flopping around in a circle. I thought she was having a stroke. I immediately called the vet. It was a Wednesday so Dr. Paul was not there. Dr. Anderson took her from me and did bloodwork on her. Her HCT was 14%. It should have been 40%. The vet should have told me right then to take her to the animal hospital. He did not. He just told me she had Immunocompromised Hemolytic Anemia and she had 30% chance of surviving. She absolutely needed Oxygen and Blood. They had NEITHER! No emergency equipment or blood. All that was done for her was IV fluids with Steroids which did nothing . I had just moved to Myrtle Beach and I did not know there was an animal hospital right down 17 bypass. If I had known, I would have taken her there. That vet should have told me to take her there for at least a chance to live. I left her with that vet praying she would survive. The next morning Dr. Paul called to tell me my Cassie had passed during the night. All alone probably striving to breathe. I went straight to the vet's office and held my Cassie saying goodbye to her. That I loved her so much. Finally when I was composed enough, I gave her back to staff. Then I was promptly given a bill for 800 dollars. In my opinion, they let her die! I will never forgive them. All they cared about was the money! Dr. Anderson is in my eyes, the worst vet I have known. I am finally writing this review for my sweet Cassie. She didn't deserve to die alone or like she did! So Cassie, this is for you. I will love and miss you forever...

Coastal Veterinary Care is fantastic. There aren't enough superlatives for Dr. Black and her team,…read moreincluding veterinary tech Erika. We visited this practice for the second time last week in Myrtle Beach from our vacation spot in Sunset Beach. Our first experience was a few years ago when Dr. Black saw our miniature schnauzer Katie, who was an ailing senior citizen. Dr. Black took all the time in the world to examine Katie and to educate my husband on what was going on with her health. She even called my husband after he had returned to Sunset Beach to suggest another medication that might be helpful, and had one of her technicians drop it off at the Food Lion parking lot on her way home! That is how considerate and compassionate she is. We returned last week with our newest mini schnauzer Josie, who had two sets of stitches from an unfortunate encounter with a fox, and our local vet wanted them removed before we returned from vacation. We were so happy to once again call on Dr. Black and enjoyed our experience even more. Her assistant Erika was so nice, and made us feel at home as we waited for Dr. Black. She gave us updates while we were waiting and was very gentle with Josie in getting her ready for her appointment. Dr. Black was as terrific as we remembered her, extremely caring, knowledgeable and gentle with Josie. She removed Josie's stitches and reported that Josie was a perfect patient, and was healing well from her injuries. She is not only a skilled medical professional, but also a very kind and relatable person. If you live in Myrtle Beach with your pet, you are very fortunate to have Dr. Black in your midst! Susan W

As soon as I walked in, they got us right into the examination room which I appreciated so much. This prevented a lot of extra stress on my cat because she didn't have to see a bunch of other animals in a waiting room. Every single person who works here is so kind, empathetic and friendly. I also loved that this is a "no fear" establishment. This means that they didn't scruff my cat during the appointment and they were super gentle with her the whole time. They also brought her in a nice cardboard box to hide in to help calm her down and created a hiding spot with towels for her. My last vet didn't think to do any of this for my cat and they were so aggressive with her which is why we never went back. The people who work here were just very considerate and made me and my pet feel comfortable and well cared for. They were upfront about all costs which I appreciated as well. An added bonus, they have an outdoor patio area right outside the examination room (awesome if you have a dog) and it also allowed you to be able to walk right out to the parking lot instead of having to walk through the lobby which typically stresses animals out because they see other animals coming in. I can't recommend this place enough. You can definitely trust them with your fur babies and know in full confidence they are in good hands at River Oaks Animal Hospital. Thank you guys!

The tech took my dog at the 6hr mark and left the room with no word as to what they were doing or if they were going to be doing anything. Turns out they took my dog and put her in a kennel for two hours!! Why take her, if you're not even close to ready to look at her, she would be happier with her parents!! They said the wait "Is because they had one Vet on a Sunday that we had the wait!" Why wouldn't they have an emergency on-call additional vet available? I asked for them to quickly trim her nails and they said yes and later refused. The hospital was so cold we were freezing the entire time so I told the vet and she said sarcastically "I'm cold too!" Well I'm thinking they need to turn off the A/C!!!! I have been a pet owner for over 50 years and this was by far THE WORST TREATMENT I'VE EVER RECEIVED! We had less than five minutes with the vet after 8hrs of waiting!!!!!!! My dog could've died and they simply didn't care. If they are the ONLY AVAILABLE VET, you don't have much choice, but no customer should EVER have to wait 7hrs to see someone, no vet should ever disappear with your dog with ZERO explanation for two hours, and no hospital should be so cold as to make everyone miserable. My dog survived...no thanks to this animal hospital. But to their credit, and $350 later, my dog was given Benadryl and a steroid. But if we a choice, we would never return.

One vet wanted to do surgery when they found Roscoe had eaten sand at the beach a few days earlier. When I asked questions they seemed annoyed and continued typing on their laptop. I left him there for several hrs since they said he needed medication and they couldn't guarantee his outcome. I came back later and when I asked who stays with them overnight I was informed that no one would be there. I then took him to Beaver Run. They contacted the vet and was told that nothing had been done xcept an IV for hydration. The vet at the ER said she was disappointed with the attending Dr at On Point also.
