After more than a year of consistent effort, communication, and trying to make things work, I ultimately did not feel that the level of support or collaboration matched what my children needed. My 9-year-old daughter repeatedly shared that she struggled to be included during group activities. She often said she would ask to join and was denied, or she would tell a teacher and was told they would "talk to the other kids," but the situation continued without follow-through. Over time, she began telling me she didn't want to ask anymore because it felt pointless. As a parent, it is my responsibility to advocate for my children, and I brought these concerns to the staff and director multiple times. I also observed patterns of certain children consistently sticking together while others were left out. Although I understand that friendships form naturally, I expected staff to guide inclusive interactions--especially in a program that emphasizes social learning. Instead, I was told that I was "asking for too much." There was also a situation where another child's teasing left my daughter in tears. When I asked how these situations were handled, I was told it was typical behavior. While disagreements and conflicts do happen between children, I expected more structured intervention and support in line with the center's stated values. I also noticed my daughter regularly sitting alone during snack time while other children clustered together. When I pointed this out as an opportunity to encourage inclusive social behavior, the response I received was that children simply sit where they choose. While this is true I felt the situation highlighted an ongoing lack of guided support. Also where director Nancy had my daughter sit alone and when my daughter said she wanted to sit with the girls she was scolded "it doesn't matter!". A social-skills supervisor who observed my daughter noted that staff might benefit from additional training on how to support neurodivergent students, which reflected my own experiences. My son also encountered challenges. He was disenrolled due to behavior concerns, and I took every step requested by the center to secure additional support so he could return. Even with outside support staff present, I did not see the level of engagement or consistency needed for him to participate successfully. Throughout the year, I made multiple attempts to collaborate and offer constructive feedback. Based on my interactions, I did not feel that feedback was well-received or that my concerns were taken seriously. As a parent of neurodivergent children, advocating for them is essential, and I did not feel the partnership I hoped for was present. While this center may work well for some families (only for the families they personally know), it did not align with our needs or the level of support I expect in an environment that promotes itself as inclusive. I know what culture and values I want for my children and this is not it

After a few months I was overwhelmed, exhausted and confused and he wasn't happy either. Thankfully, I was referred to Kids Crew by my neighbor. We went for a tour and knew right away this is the perfect place for him. They have a great playground with all kinds of things for kids to do. The staff is absolutely awesome and really invest a lot of time and energy getting to know the kids and the things that motivates them. They also talk to me regularly to see how my son's learning is going at home which I greatly appreciate. He loves going there and has made so many friends. I wish I could send him every day! He is also learning so much and his confidence has improved. I cannot recommend them enough. It it truly a magical place!

For those of you looking for a place that will help your kids out with school, this is one of the best and most unique places out there. Unlike Kumon and Sylvan, Homework Bound focuses on the homework the children bring home rather than bombarding them with additional work and exercises. The teachers help the students understand their homework first and reach the root of the problem that way. Thus, those who need some extra focus can get that and those who need additional guidance can receive that as well. The program focuses on organization and time-keeping skills that will help the children with their homework and can also be applied elsewhere even after they leave the center. The teachers are great, caring, funny, and also focusead. They are chosen very carefully and put a lot of heart into what they are doing. Mr. Vesagas, the director, is also a very caring man who devotes so much of his time to his program and the children. He is extremely passionate about helping each child individually and always makes sure that they stay on track in terms of finishing their work. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some extra tutoring for your child. While this isn't a "day-care," it is a great alternative to it. Bring your child home in the evening with their homework finished and enjoy some very much needed family time. :)

We immediately liked the owner and instructors! Our son enjoyed going every week, we even walked 1.5 miles each way twice a week and he never complained. That's unheard of for a fifth grader, but he honestly liked the environment, the instructors and definitely the snacks! His school didn't give homework so he only worked on the curriculum that Mathnasium provided and we weren't really able to determine if Mathnasium was truly effective until he got his end of the year repot card. For the first time, he received "exceeeding" marks ONLY in math! And even more indicative of Mathnasium's effect is the glowing progress reflected between his midterm and end of the year marks. He did a little over seven months, twice a week consistently at Mathnasium and I'm honestly really pleased with the progress he made! The best part is that he sincerely enjoyed his time there this school year and wants to continue! Much gratitude and love for everyone at the Northridge Mathnasium!
