These are some of the nicest people we have encountered in our travels. We gorged solely on the crawfish devouring 10lbs. The texture of the crawfish were boiled to perfection, temperature was perfect still warm so you know they are fresh but not so hot you cannot enjoy them right away. The best part is the incredible flavor, perfectly seasoned with just enough spice to warm your mouth. These mudbugs alone were worth the trip this far south in to Plaquemines Parrish. I would definately be back if I am even close. If you enjoy crawfish, or have never tried them but are open minded this is the place. Thank you to the staff at Dad's for a wonderful afternoon!

We rode the motorcycle out here on a Saturday evening. The ride itself was lovely, but the…read moredestination was even better! It's a whole world away from New Orleans in vibes, but it's less than an hour drive. Tee Wee's is a food truck parked right by the water. There's plenty of seating and it's under a roof, so come rain or shine. They had live music tonight with a band playing all the classics and favorites! There's a full bar too if you're interested in libations We tried the crawfish empanadas ($8) and blackened fish tacos with fries ($15). Both items were hot, fresh, and delicious! I especially loved the blackened fish tacos, it was so good! I could have had 3 more of those! It certainly seems like a local favorite hang, but I would highly recommend non-locals to check it out for both the drive out there and to stop by for a bite and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere!

We just ate the best Po' Boys! I can't say enough about the…read moreshrimp and the red fish po' boys-- they are the best I've had in a long time! Fresh shrimp were perfectly seasoned and fried to golden and crispy, while still juicy and tender inside. The redfish was fresh, flaky, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of spice. Both sandwiches were piled high on soft, warm French bread with crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a creamy remoulade that tied everything together beautifully. If you're craving an authentic, mouthwatering po' boy, this place is a must.

Where do I begin?…read more.. Not a fancy place by any means. BUT!! There are a few rules...for instance, ladies no showing off that thong and men no saggy pants!! How do we know this? Well the posted sign says so! And don't even think about bringing someone into the bathroom with you or pissing the the sink or the trash can! (there is a sign for that too). If your worried about your literacy skills being able to handle all this reading don't fret!!!...the reading stops there cause there are no menus. The proprietor (and woman who seems to be the caretaker in this small town of fisherman and roughnecks) is Ms. Rose. She will gladly tell you what she has available to make. We were lucky enough to be offered the shrimp and catfish, which ended up being redfish. But no worries! We are pretty sure Ms Rose just put the fries, shrimp and redfish on the plate and lowered it into the deep fryer. I must say in all honesty, it was all very lightly battered and not greasy really at all. It was evident that the seafood was fresh...well at least until we were told about the bone in redfish and crawfish that was being offered to the locals walking in. It must have been evident that we were from out of town. I don't blame Ms. Rose for wanting to give us something she knew we would like though. PS Apparently ribs and ale means seafood and Budweiser...unless the ribs and ale are also being saved for the locals... PPS please call first to see if they are open...Ms. Rose loves that.

I have walked into plenty of shady establishments in my time on this earth. I have often wondered…read moreif I would walk out of some, but occasionally I've found a gem. Cochiara is one such gem. Growing up in South Louisiana I spent a lot of time in Grand Isle. Heading there we would always stop at a friend's gas station/fishing supply/bar on the way to the island. I always remember the old men sitting at the bar laughing and drinking while we tried to convince my parents to buy us candy. Throughout the years I have visited many a boat launch and marina in Louisiana fishing communities with similar businesses. These places have always reminded me of those family trips and they always bring me great joy. After a recent trip to Boutte's for dinner, I discovered another place that made my quite happy. Cochiara is the convenience store/bar next to a boat launch. There used to be hotel rooms here, but I think they no longer exist. Inside is much more of a bar than convenience store, but there are chips and soft drinks should you need supplies for a fishing trip. The crowd was primarily local, but very friendly. I think I was tested by some locals when they noticed me singing David Alan Coe, but I must have passed with flying colors as they welcomed us with open arms. This may have been because I am a very likable guy with an incredible knowledge of country music. If you're not me, or not with me, you may have issues, but I will be glad to offer pointers for a small fee. The jukebox was stocked with old country classics, but also had some surprises including Madonna. The beer selection was somewhat lacking unless you are a fan of Bud products. When asked what beer they had besides Bud Light, the bartender advised of us of no less than seven different Bud products. If I buy a camp in Lafitte I will become a regular here. Even if I don't, I will make sure and stop on every trip I make. Note: I am thinking bars like this would make a great UYE. I wonder if we can figure out a way to do all waterfront bars one night.
