When I was in college, I sometimes looked around clothes shops, especially Bayo, if only to check out the designs and colors. They were too expensive, especially for a student budget. But I really loved the pastels, and the feel of the fabrics. And the clothes seem to be the ones that won't go out of style - they have that classic look.
My aunt gave me a Bayo blouse that she had outgrown, and though it was a little too big for me, I liked the color and indeed, the fabric felt different.
Later, when I was already working, I was able to buy a Bayo outfit during a sale. It was at half-price and I was happy.
Here at Alabang Town Center, the Bayo branch is as nice as the rest, but it seems more relaxed. The times I've browsed through clothes there, I was the only customer or only one of a few customers, so the staff were able to really answer my questions. A swimsuit had caught my eye then - unfortunately, my size was not available.
One time when I was writing about clothes for an article, I researched about Pinoy clothing brands and I only found out then that "bayo" is actually a Filipino term - it is a Hiligaynon term for "dress." In fact, the brand started as a made-to-measure dress shop more than two decades ago. read more
