I need to be brutally honest about this hotel. I have traveled nearly a million miles and stayed in many hotels all over the world. Issues happen at hotels all of the time. What I have found over the years. When something happens I have found hotel staffs to be the most accommodating and helpful people in the hospitality industry. Hotel workers are the unsung hero's of the industry. I booked my room at the Wyndham baymont in Glenview Illinois from May 31-June 9 with the plan of extending at least 10 additional days. The reason for this trip my closing on my hose was delayed. This particular hotel seemed like a great fit. When I arrived on May 31. The elevator was broken. I told the guy at the front desk I was recovering from a major car accident. I explained I needed a comfortable room for my stay. Especially since it could be up to 20 days. He was kind and helped me carry my bag up to my room. He also promised to get me a room on the first floor tomorrow. The next day they didn't have a room available. I was promised Monday am I would have a first floor room. As a matter of a fact they said the room would be room 107. To my surprise the room was not available. I said I wouldn't be back till late. Monday evening I arrived at the hotel. They said room 107 was not cleaned. I was given room 123. The elevator still wasn't working. I had to deal with getting everything to my new room. The hotel attendant was nice. He was a young kid. This was his first job. I unpacked my bags and ate dinner. A little after 11pm I started getting ready for bed. When I opened up the sheets. I saw multiple blood stains all over the sheets. I was absolutely disgusted. I took pics and videos. I showed it to the girl at the front desk. She gave me a new set of sheets and a garbage bag to put the blood stained sheets in a bag. I was utterly mortified that she didn't offer me any help or assistance. The following morning I went to the front desk. I spoke with David. I told him what happened. He was incredibly rude and abrasive. I was extremely calm. This was when Mike the manager said they have a three step process. Both David and Mike basically accused me of lying. This put me in a very incredibly uncomfortable position. I stayed calm. I explained the last few days were frustrating between the broken elevator and it taking a very long time to switch my room. I said I'm recovering from a bad car accident and I was recovering from serious injuries. This is where Mike said he will refund my entire stay. This is where David said I look perfectly fine. I was in shock. Both David and Mike doubled down with saying I made this up. I didn't want to deal with packing up again then having to find another hotel. I told Mike why don't you comp me a night because I'm going to extend. He doubled down that there was no way his staff was responsible. Dry Blood doesn't magically appear. The following day I said to David I would like to speak with Mike about the bloody sheets incident. Mike never responded. After three days and multiple times requesting to speak with Mike I figured I would call customer service. I told customer service and they were appalled by my experience. They asked me what I wanted. I said I felt I should be comped three nights. Considering the experience I didn't think that was unreasonable. On Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th I told David I still haven't heard back from Mike. I felt I was poorly compensated for my issues. On Monday the 9th i went to the front desk and wanted to speak with Mike. David told me tonight is comped and I am banned from ever coming to the hotel again. I was shocked. I then said I wanted to speak with Mike. David was extremely rude. I had to get personal and tell him I was on blood thinners. He obliged to come to my room and I showed him my medication. I needed to reiterate I didn't put the blood on the sheets. I said I have a blood disorder. If I cut myself I would bleed profusely because of my medication. There was still zero accountability for the bloody sheets. Shortly after speaking with David. I managed to speak with Mike. We went into a private room to discuss the issue. He asked me why did I call corporate. I said it was frustration that he felt I planted the blood on the sheets. I said that was extremely offensive. He then said he was a very busy guy. Then he made sure to imply there would be zero repercussions for my complaint, and because I complained he was banning me from the hotel. All of this rubbed me the wrong way. The arrogance of Mike was astonishing. What I realized from my 10 days at this hotel. This hotel is a factory pushing people in and out read more

What a dump..... Asked to speak to a manager multiple times I was told the manager wasn't there. I left my name and number and no return phone call. I was told they will check me out of the room and they never did I had to do it manually. The bathtub had cigarette burns on it. The lights had patches that were never painted over, the fan in the bathroom was broken, so with the humidity I couldn't breath and had a hard time showering. The door to the room doesn't lock. And the bed is curled up at the corner. Maid service is only available with 24 hr advance notice. They failed to tell the staff I had a late checkout but they still tried to enter my room twice. read more

I heard the Wyndham and I'm thinking the hotel would be nice. I was very disappointed the place reminded me of a rundown motel. The place had a musty smell the ac was on when we entered the room. Nope, nope, nope. The first room we were given had a broken AC unit with smashed buttons. We called the front desk to let them know and we're promptly asked if we had "tried unplugging it then plugging it back in." We aren't maintenance and don't want to mess with anything, plus that isn't our job, so no. We were told someone would come and take a look. 30 minutes later the front desk calls us to say nobody is on site to fix it so we are being moved a couple of rooms down to 309. EVERYTHING was filthy. I actually wiped the furniture down in a desperate attempt to get some of the dust off. But it covered the vents, lightbulbs, behind the TV, etc. This place hasn't been cleaned in years. The shower curtain was ripped to shreds on top and whatever was ripped off the back of the bathroom door just stayed there, hanging out. The toilet paper is .05 ply so bring your own unless you want a surprise poke while wiping. Nobody came to clean/give us towels/take out the trash once during the five day stay. I understand being understaffed, and I don't expect a sparkling room with towel swans and champagne, but for the nightly price I do expect basics such as cleanliness. Every guest was leaving their trash and dirty towels in the hallway, because nobody was coming to get them. I did see a cleaner but I don't know what rooms she was cleaning? Unless only the empty ones get cleaned. The breakfast bar was a waffle maker, apples, and I think some cereal. There was hardy ever anyone at the desk and my interactions with staff were unpleasant. The blonde woman was particularly condescending and dismissive. Finally, the NOISE. I knew it would be a little noisy given the reviews and location but wow, it's like you're sleeping on the highway. It's a great location for the nearby restaurants and shopping spots but that's it. I wouldn't recommend you stay here. I know I won't be staying again. read more

i had the Worst Experience with Wil Kim during my stay. He is Very Rude, Unprofessional, and Poor Customer Service. Staff made a mistake with Housekeeping, and our bedding was never changed (we requested fresh sheets before we left our room). His solution was to provide clean sheets, and we as guests change them ourselves. I asked for a new room, and he declined. On a scale of 1-10, his Customer Service was a Negative Twenty Five. I made sure to get Corporate contact information so upper Headquarters can be aware of what kind of staff is running his business, as he represents Baymont. He lacks of All the above mention, and forget a verbal, write-up, he should be Fired. I have stayed at this location multiple times over the past 10 years, always when I visit the area from out of town. I like the location, the staff is always great, rooms comfortable, and the breakfast is a nice touch to start the day. I stayed there for 4 nights, while visiting family, starting 7/8. I'm the type of person who pretty much looks for a hotel where I can sleep, not hang out all day, so I usually overlook smaller issues there, like elevators not working, room keys failing multiple times, broken lights, etc. The first couple of mornings when I woke up in my room and was itchy, I dismissed it and thought I had mosquito bites. That location gets humid in the summer and there are bugs outdoors. The 3rd morning I woke up, I noticed that I had about 20 bites in areas of my body that are always covered by my pants, except for when I shower, or am in bed. When I pulled back the blankets, there were a bunch of black specks on the sheet, which I took pictures of. I left for the day and quietly mentioned the issue to the front desk staff on my way back in that evening. Told him I wasn't looking for anything, but I wanted to let him know that someone might want to check it out after I left. As usual, the front desk person was super kind, and he also gave me the manager's name and contact info and encouraged me to reach out to the manager directly. I was hesitant to do that, but after I got back home and my husband noticed the insane number of bites all over my body, mostly on my lower stomach, upper thighs...again, covered areas unless I'm naked (sleeping, shower), he highly suggested that also mentioned that I reach out to the manager, with pictures. I'm generally not one to write a poor review, but I did reach out to the manager after I got home on 7/12, and he didn't even have the decency to respond to me. After being bitten up that bad, woken up by something crawling on my butt on Thursday night, and seeing all the black specks on the sheets, it seems the professional thing to do would be to at least acknowledge the guest's complaint, not completely ignore them. Unfortunately, after my last visit, this will be my last stay here and any other of the Wyndham hotels. read more

Wow.. just wow. I checked in late, I had traveled quite a ways and was very i'll; otherwise it would have left. chicken was fine, but when I got up to the third floor there was duct tape on the carpet where it meets the ceramic tiles rather than having thresholds down, it was just duct taped. When I got to my room the lights on the headboard and the light in the corner of work. I moved the night stands to see if they were plugged in and there was so much dust and cry dirty Q-tips hair clips all sorts of gross stuff behind the nightstands. on the toiletry tray there was a pubic hair. The foot rest and the shower curtain both look like it had been chewed by rodents. The bathroom light and I think the fan turned on by Moshe which was really be because it was all and clinky and loud let alone the filters for the air came out of the sprayer and the intake in the bathroom were absolutely filthy. I have a houseful and it was just gross to think I was even breathing the air. read more

We paid extra to have a coffee pot in our room but there was no coffee pot. Talked to the front desk and they said they would correct it the next day. Next day, they said sorry but people keep stealing the pots, yet we could talk to the manager the next day. We called the next day while we were out and the manager said he was too busy to talk to us and hung up. Along with this issue, continuing internet issues only to be told its our room and they will have it fixed the day after we check out. Don't know how that makes sense. How does only one room have an issue with Wi-Fi? The T.V. would only work on a few of the local channels but all the rest would be glitchy. Again, they would fix it after we check out. But, here is the kicker, our bathroom still had hair in the sink, toothpaste on the window and the light would short out. We told them this and all the front desk girl said was she didn't believe us. I have been very patient. At this point, I'd recommend paying a little extra for a place that doesn't have the potential to burn down while the staff blankly stares and says we're sorry, but there is nothing we can do, don't believe you, are too busy to take your call or won't refund the extra we paid for the things we didn't get. read more

The room was nice enough and the hotel is in a nice location. This is a pricy place though and yet there is no room service, parking is $79/night, no continental breakfast, and the valets took over 30 minutes to get us our car. read more

Lets start off with the good, The place was clean and was in a good location. It was an ok place for the price. Now the bad. The pictures show a full breakfast with hot items and that is not what is served. I know we are in COVID times but we have been here for years now and if you are not going to provide the meal you advertise then lets change the pictures until you do. The food area was small, packed and not refilled in a timely manor. All it consisted of was Apples, Waffles, Cereal and Toast. The room was ok. But if you want to sleep, bring your ear plugs as the window is located right next to the highway that is always busy. There was no housekeeping and we were provided 1 bar of small hotel soap for all bathing and handwashing. Bed was beyond firm. They only have 1 ice machine for the entire place and the signs for it are difficult to find. The one ice machine was empty on a regular basis. Like I said, not a bad place for the price but there are many better ones in the area. read more

This is totally the kind of MOTEL I imagine escorts from Backpage come to to turn tricks; the kind of motel drug addicts come to to get high and do whatever else it is they do once high. It's GROSS! GROSSSSS!!!!! Trust. Me. Location - it's out of the way, but in Chicago, that's never a bad thing. About 3 miles from the 94. It's located in a plaza that includes numerous small restaurant, a nail salon, and some other businesses. Not too far from the mall or civilization. Price - I think I spent like $80 total. I should've known better, but the numerous glowing reviews on Hotels.com misled me to thinking this was a cool hotel. LIES. DAMNED LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Issues- First thing's first: the place smells like one big ash tray, with cheap Dollar Tree car air fresher sprayed on top of that smell. You'll literally need to shower just from walking through the corridors of this dreadful place. Wyndham are y'all serious? Y'all can't be serious. Can't be! Next - I get to the room. I open the door and before I set one foot down over the other I am SLAMMED by the smell of cigarette smoke. Now mind you, I was told this was a non-smoking room. I am immediately disgusted, but I knew I had part 1 of a long drive ahead of me in the morning, so I walked on in. Next - I began the usual inspection. There was dust everywhere. The floor looked unkempt, the bed cover was SOILED in numerous spots. I peeled it off and laid towels down on the bed. I went to shower and found hairs and some kind of crumbs on the shower floor. And guess what? - cigarette burns on the basin of the tub. OMFG. I laid another of the towels down inside the shower, because I didn't think it'd be the kind of place you need shower slippers for. OMG. It gets worse. The toilet wouldn't flush. After the first flush it ran with a hiss ALL NIGHT. There was slimy guck coming out of the overflow area of the sink. I almost threw up. Swear. Again, it gets worse. There was a nasty wet looking smudge on the night stand by the bed. Turned out to be what I guess was purple lipstick. WTF bro. WTF. Wyndham - I need some answers, pronto! I opened up the window (which was facing a lovely highway full of cars) to air the place out, as I feared my clothes and hair would stink of DISGUSTING cigarette smoke. I left for a few hours and came back, and you can guess it, it was still funky af in there. OMG Wyndham y'all are buggin tf out for this. I would sell this property if I was y'all. You cannot slap a new sink and some flooring in a motel 6 and try to push it off as some kind of quality place to stay. You HAVE TO hire housekeeping, too. I refuse to believe this place has a housekeeping staff. I'm hitting the road right now. I'll come back with more commentary when I get to my first rest stop. Unbelievable. I stayed at the Marriot Suites at Deerfield, just 30-75 minutes from Chicago (depending on traffic), from 08/24/2021-08/29/2021. We checked in late Tuesday night, the 24th, and went to straight to bed. To our unpleasant surprise, we woke up to FOUR LIVE bees buzzing around our bedroom, along with 1 huge stinkbug. I brought this issue up to the front staff immediately, and was told they were working on getting us a new room, and they apologized. They told us "a window was probably left open", and there was likely no infestation... A cleaning staff came by and saw all windows were sealed, and after all live bugs that were identified were killed, we continued to see more live bees buzzing around the room (see videos and photos attached). Therefore, this was not the result of someone leaving a window open, which was SEALED SHUT and COULD NOT be opened anyway!!! We were switched to a new room. I asked for a 1 night room comp, which they stated they would take care of.... However, because I booked through Expedia, I was not entitled to a direct refund, and would need to call Expedia and have them ask for a refund... I obliged, and Expedia had a three-way call, only to find our Marriott denied the entire event and told me they would not compensate me for a single night, as I was undeserving of such an act... Instead they would waive a 75$ pet fee...... So, half a night's compensation for having live bees and bugs buzzing around our heads... Nice job Marriott! Not stingy at all! You guys are doing great! Additionally, My room was NEVER cleaned. I stayed from 08/24-08/29, and NOT ONCE was my room cleaned by any staff. We ran out of towels, coffee, cups, toiletries... All tiny measly trash cans were stuffed to the brim, and no one would clean our room when requested (see pictures and videos). To top it all off, I was CHARGED the pet fee of 75$, and found out 5 days after my stay that it charged to my card... I had to again request this charge be refunded back to my card, and to this day, I still am charged the pet fee. AWFUL AWFUL experience, and will not be staying at a Marriott again! I booked here through priceline for my first day with client.. No internet the entire stay and my shower has no tray to hold soap and no barrier so water falls all over the floor.. No action from management whatsoever.. Not good, Ill never come here again and I travel to Chicago every week. I was told to go to Dunkin Donuts because for internet because they are open 24 hrs there. I was there trying to get internet until midnight. Still none right now, all my data is being used. Despite all of the issues I had with staying at this hotel through a third-party, Dexter was excellent. He was very helpful with guiding me in the right direction on what to do next. Never book through hopper. Go straight to the hotel! I was so impressed with this place that I felt compelled to review. I travel for work and I'm in a different hotel or motel every single night for most of the year. I have stayed in ALOT of places from high end to low end, but I try to stay at places in the $60-80 range a night and for the rate this is the best place I've stayed. It was so clean and the decor inside seemed more high end. I was even looking at the details of the paint job bc I couldn't believe how nice it was for the price. I was so impressed that I extended my room another night instead of searching for a new place like I usually do. The lobby was really clean with classical music playing it felt safe and high end. I was even calculating how much it would cost me to live here on month to month basis bc I liked it so much that may be going a bit far but that's just where my mind took me lol. read more

Beware. Book at your own discretion. Why? Let me tell you a story. We checked into the hotel at 11:30pm. After a very long day, I wanted to take a shower and sleep comfortably. We went into the hotel room and was greeted with a noisy broken windowsill. I went to inspect the window and upon pushing back the curtains, was startled by a large spider. My husband is afraid of spiders, but bravely proceeded to get rid of it to bring us peace of mind. I then went into the bathroom to take a shower, but lo and behold, the shower was broken. We informed Terry at the front desk who then gave us another room. Darn, we couldn't even get into the second room because the doorlock didn't work. Third times a charm? Terry gave us a third room. Our trip through the hallway reeked of weed stench. I can get through this, I muttered. Alas, we were able to get in! We began to settle in and noticed there is no TV remote control. Not too big of a deal considering it was already late. Turned on the ac but it was so loud we decided to leave it off. There is also a spider web in the corner of our ceiling. Guess the cleaning staff never looks up. I went to the bathroom for my long awaited shower. I grabbed a towel and noticed there is brown stuff on it. I couldn't be sure, but.. it looked like poop. I'm not using this. We got new towels from our now well-acquinted friend Terry. After my shower, my husband announced that there is no wifi. Quite amusing. It was then 12:30am and was too late for us to find another hotel. And so here I was, writing a novel as a reminder to myself to spend the extra bucks for an actual hotel. In the morning we spoke to the manager Mike who seemed like he was used to hearing these issues. We received partial compensation for our inconvenience. This review is not the belittle the hotel but to serve as a cautionary warning. read more

This hotel was filthy and smelly! The entryway was dirty and impossible to get someone to help you. The hallways and stairwells stunk and the carpet was not vacuumed in a while. They edges and corners of the room were dusty and in the bathroom, moldy! The garbage still had the last guests garbage in it. The shower head was so low (I'm only 5'4") that you had to straddle the faucet in order to get under it to wash your hair. After showering and dressing, my feet were black! The carpet was filthy! The amenities were cheap no name. All night long we could hear the TV in the room next door and the guy upstairs walked all night. I've never stayed at a hotel with such thin walls and ceiling/floors! After seeing how dirty the entire hotel was, we skipped breakfast for fear of food poisoning. While leaving we asked others how there stay was and they said "not good, we are finding a different hotel". Spend a couple more bucks and get a decent place to spend the night. It would have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor. I was very disappointed in the bed as well as the pillows. If you're looking for comfortability, choose somewhere else. NOTE: This place used to be the Baymont but is now a Travelodge, which is kind of funny since some of the stuff inside still has Baymont on it. I really wanted to hate this place on the first night of a one-week-long business trip, and imagined myself writing a real scather of a one-star review later, but by the week's end I started to not mind it so much. The exterior is a hulking, bunker-like structure, and is a bit intimidating. It's set a ways back from Milwaukee Avenue and there's some kind of long blat of construction going on in front of it. Nothing in the hotel is new. The carpets are all pretty ratty. Door knobs are loose. The elevator was broken. Everything feels worn. However, the room was clean, the heat/AC unit was newer and worked great, the hot water was hot and the bed was reasonably comfy. Since I was gone from 8am to 8-10pm most days, it served its purpose quite well. The hotel wi-fi was slow but free, and adequate for checking email. I didn't try the continental breakfast, or even look at it, so I can't say if it was any good or not. Only interacted with the staff twice -- once at check-in, and once during check-out. Both processes were quick. The woman at check-in was haggard, quiet and grumpy, but having had a long day as well, I sort of understood, so I guess that was okay. Finally, the place was super cheap through Yahoo Travel so that was a big plus. read more

We got a king size room and the first thing we noticed was a dead bug on the carpet. Because we traveled for family emergency, we decided to just stay. We extended our stay from two days to 6 days, which was very easy. Although, our sheets were not changed. The breakfast was good and had just enough options. I made an online reservation for a room with two queens for my husband, son, and myself. When we arrived they couldn't find our reservation and put us in a room with two twins and a futon, which was manageable. However, they didn't honor the online booking price. We had just put our 6 year old to bed when we discovered the toilet was leaking extensively. The phone in the room was disconnected, so I called the front desk on my cell. They didn't answer. I went downstairs to speak with them. They moved us to a room with just two twin beds. I asked what I was supposed to do with my six year old and they tried to charge us for a baby's cot. They finally moved us to a room that had a king size bed. I thought we could make that work and we immediately went to bed, but all night I thought I kept smelling a dirty head. Turns out, in the morning we woke up and pulled back the covers and discovered someone else's dirty sock. We told them about it on our way out for the day and they promised to clean the entire suite, but they didn't clean everything--the sink area was untouched. This is gross at any time, but during a pandemic it is completely unforgivable! At no time did anyone apologize or offer to help. read more

Stayed here when my brother graduated Boot camp for the navy. Not far from base really good price for the hotel stay. Very clean, the staff was also very friendly they always greeted us when leaving and coming back to the hotel. The only down side that I found was that the beds were to little. Other then that fantastic stay here would definitely recommend!!!! read more

The Baymont is a nice place as long as you don't need WIFi availability! The system they have is unsecured and way too small for the 80 rooms they have. We spent 2 days there and the only time we could get out on the Internet was between 2:00 am and 6 am. The staff, Joe, Rebecca, and Mike tried everything possible to keep the system working. We had to go sit in our car in the parking lot in order to get emails. We finally moved to the Hawthorne Suites, where they have a secure strong WIFI system. If ownership ever gets its act together, it would be a nice hotel, with plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity. read more

I'm not picky when it comes to just needing a place to crash for the night, but worse hotel ever even for that. If you're a light sleeper stay away unless you enjoy the sound of cars and trucks whizzing down I294 all night. The sound is so loud I thought my window was open! Okay, okay, maybe the bed...whoops, I don't think that's a bed but possibly a giant block of concrete I slept on! I can't lie. I was kinda worried about the outcome I was going to get with this hotel. But I was VERY satisfied. For one night I got a very cheap price if 67$. This place was fantastic, very clean and modern. Extremely friendly staff and a nice little breakfast spread. The only fault I can place is the noise of the freeway comes in through the window quite a bit. But it was nothing that keeps you awake or a noise that was unbearable. I booked this place as a last minute hotel room for my husband who was traveling. My husband woke up to a roach on his pillow and a roach in the bathroom. He complained to the front desk, and they did nothing to make up for it. Needless to say, he didn't eat the breakfast. Roach motel! read more

Can I leave a zero? By far the worst experience I've ever had. And I stay at a lot of hotels. After driving 12 hrs and could barely see, I made it to the room. I sat on the bed for a moment to relax and heard the toilet running. I went to investigate. The seat was down. Weird. I lifted it only to find someone crapped in the toilet and never flushed it. I've never seen that. I was too tired to complain at that moment. But from that point on I felt dirty. Either the room was never cleaned, or it was an employee that did it and never flushed. I figured let me see what the next day holds. The elevator made so much noise you thought it was going to break. You heard everyone in their rooms. Then I was at least excited to go eat their breakfast. They didn't have juice machines. It was in pitchers. There was waffles, breads, sausage, and scrambled eggs. I got some. Not bad. Drinking cups were very small. I wanted to get more sausage and juice. Nope. Everything was left open (exposed) and the next group of people that came in were coughing and sneezing over everything. Great. Guess I'll eat more somewhere else. I told the lady at the front desk and she almost laughed saying it was embarrassing. She'll tell the manager and I'm paid in full try to enjoy the rest of my day. I even called the 3rd party company I booked though to tell them to take them off the list. I don't want anyone to go through what I did and mess up there vacation. They said the hotel manager comes in at 10am. So far it's been ignored. I guess you get what you pay for though people work hard for their money and it's not work $20 a night. Stay away if you want to enjoy your time. read more

I can't give this joint a higher rating, because the management has let it run down so far. However, the basics remain functional. Good lights, good plumbing, decent beds, nice desk clerks, and the price is right. On the minus side, the parking lot looks like a moonscape, only one ice machine works, the carpets are pretty ratty, and the whole place is pretty worn, but that doesn't have any effect on the comfort level. I have stayed here many times for the convenient location, and I have never seen a bug of any kind or even a spider, in response to the lady who complained of roaches. read more
