And no wonder, since they're both designed by the same architect! The circular layout is great since we could see the stage and screen from any vantage point. The event was entertaining and engaging. My only complaint is that they funnel all fans through one entrance and exit. Food: I saw several complaints regarding prices for food at this venue. I found the prices to be very reasonable, not sure if the prices change depending on the event or maybe local folks have a different perspective (I'm not from Waco, not a student). They had typical stadium food options, nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, etc.

They have extended the area and they now feature lots of mom-and-pop stores and eateries. There are yards and gardens where kids can play. (Dogs not allowed on the greens, though, so booooo... they might consider building one, maybe!) Made a stop at the store and like the last time, everything is still extra pricey. I did score a nice wooden soap dish at their clearance area, though, so at least I didn't leave empty handed this time. I won't say "never again" regrading coming back since I ended up eating my words anyway. A solid "maybe" might be more appropriate...

Waco is also known for the Waco Suspension Bridge, zoo and parks. However, most notably Waco amassed large media presence from the David Koresh standoff. David Koresh was the cult leader of the Branch Davidians, a religious sect based at the Mount Carmel Center near Waco, Texas. The group believed in apocalyptic prophecies and Koresh claimed to be the messiah. Allegations of child abuse and illegal weapons stockpiling drew federal attention. For 51 days, there was a standoff between the Branch Davidians and the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms (ATF) and later including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The FBI deployed tear gas, and, in the process, a fire started that took the lives of adults and children. Looking at this very pristine city now, you could not imagine such an horrific event happening.

Best to sign the waiver off their website before you arrive as it speeds up the checking-in process. The park is split into two parts. Trails behind the building (on the left) are primarily for motorbikes, UTVs and SxS, although they can also play with the big boys on the right side of the trails. The day I went was a day after two straight days of rain, and I wanted to get my Jeep dirty. But since we had been dry for so long all of the rain was quickly absorbed. However, there were quite of few puddles on some of the dirt trails and the two creek beds had low water flow. There's nothing quite like easing my Jeep into a muddy trail, feeling the tires search for traction while the suspension twists and flexes over rocks. Every obstacle is a challenge, every climb a test of machine and driver, and every successful ascent feels earned rather than given. In the driver's seat, it's controlled chaos. Your heart races not because you're out of control, but because you're constantly balancing risk, skill, and determination against the terrain. That's just a part of what DOMO offers to the off roading adventurer. I plan to return and keep testing my Jeep and hope to improve my driving skills. The one thing to consider is you will share the trails with other 4x4s and smaller vehicles like motocross bikes. UTVs and SxS. Courtesy goes a long way.
