Intense, chronic pain used to be just another part of my everyday life. This has largely gone away now - there's still some work to continue doing, but Dr. Jeong has helped me shed pain in my joints, tendons, muscles, and nerves. I've had several surgeries and injuries over the years, but I'm at the point now where I am feeling vast improvements as a direct result of treatment. It may be cliché to say she saved my life (or exaggerated), but at the very least, she certainly helped me begin reclaiming it for myself. I had a solid experience right from the start - Dr. Jeong sat down to discuss my own expectations and goals, providing clear information on what the treatment(s) may entail. She took the time to understand my medical history and current issues, and what I was looking to get out of the treatment. Next, she patiently explained the procedures and benefits, along with what I can be doing outside of acupuncture to continue to improve. She understands very well that a healthy life is not just one single aspect, but a blend of everything in the lifestyle. All actions, all choices have some form of impact. So - while I came here thinking I would just be receiving acupuncture, I left with a much broader understanding of changes I should be considering in my lifestyle and nutritional intake to work in tandem with the acupuncture and other treatments, along with additional treatment options I hadn't previously considered. It was nice to see that Dr. Jeong didn't jump in and make any snap decisions - each procedure was carefully considered and then discussed with me before we moved forward with it. I'm certainly no expert, but felt very relaxed with the calming atmosphere and it's clear Dr. Jeong is knowledgeable and skillful in all areas of her practice. There are some insurances that are covered, but not mine - I knew that going in, but her treatments have helped immensely, so I continue to return regularly. After about half a dozen appointments, most of my ailments are either considerably improved, or resolved altogether. The biggest improvements for me have come via acupuncture and Tui Na, though every treatment thus far has provided a positive outcome for me. This past week, I had some issues arise from a few different ailments. Ultimately, this lead to some pain issues that constrained some of my mobility. With her skillful treatment, Dr. Jeong helped work with me and I was able to complete a 12k run the following day with a much better performance than I had been expecting. The suite isn't hard to find if you follow the very specific instructions given. The room that I was in was clean, uncluttered, and had a very calming feel to it. There was a Himalayan salt lamp and soft music playing. Once in the room she will review all of your information and ask what you'd like to focus on more (top 3) if you have multiple issues found on. I was given the option of laying on the table or sitting in the leather recliner chair. I chose the recliner chair. I had needles in my ears, legs, wrists. It wasn't pleasant having them placed, but she is great with distracting you in conversation. Once the needles are placed the initial pain subsides. You will be left to relax for 30 minutes. You will have a call button at your side if you need anything before she returns. My anxiety, panic attacks, and chronic pain have been minimal since my first and only session with Dorothy, and if you've ever experienced any of those things then you know how big of a victory that is. I'll definitely be coming back for more sessions. This included changing our diet, taking supplements, eliminating drinking alcohol, and reducing caffeine... and seeking eastern medicine (acupuncture + Chinese herbal medication). Dorothy is so accommodating and kind, and immediately pointed out discrepancies from both my and my husband's historical lab work that point to considerations our reproductive endocrinologist (RE) dismissed. She explained that I may not have an official diagnosis of PCOS but my body is "PCOS-y", and guess what? A month later, my doctor put me on medication for PCOS and labeled it as my diagnosis for infertility. Dorothy also identified my husband's results being on the lowest point of "normal" was still very problematic, and when we did more research, we found plenty to support Dorothy's concerns. Without her giving us advice along the way, we wouldn't have had as much success asking our RE questions and navigating this very stressful, scary, and confusing world.
