This company appears to be either really great - or really bad. Our process was middle of the road…read more We had a whole house demo and install ~ 3000 sq feet. Things to know: The salesperson will tell you whatever it takes to get the sale. Several things were stated as being included in the service such as removal and replacement of closet organizers, baseboards would not need to be removed and reset as that if baseboards were set on the current wood floor (they were and the salesperson was informed of this) as the installer would simply cut the floor and the seam would be covered by quarter round), we would be able to stay in the house as they would move section by section so as not to totally interrupt our household. Installers are in fact subcontractors, not 50Floor employees as stated by salesperson, though you do pay 50Floor for materials and installation. The sample of the product appeared to be of better quality than what arrived to be installed. Not a huge difference, but a difference. Again we are talking about a 3000 sq ft job. It looks fine on the floor but is not exactly what I was expecting. The installation crew were communicative and hard working. I think that the scope of my job was a little out of the normal for them. They arrived early and worked late - sometimes until 8 at night. While I appreciated that they wanted to get the job done as quickly as possible it is difficult to live in these conditions. We were surprised with an additional "unforeseen" expenses of just under 10k as they did need to remove and replace all the baseboards and use a leveling process throughout the house as the previous leveling was scraped out with the machine that removed the floor. Both these issues were discussed with the salesperson and she never stated that IF these were needed there would be an additional charge. If they had included these in the quote it would have made a difference in my choice to purchase from them. What they did was call me while I was standing in the middle of a demo'd house and state that they needed an additional payment before proceeding with the installation. Management did work with me as it was in insurance claim and they were informed of this at the signing of the contract and the install date was delayed in order to have the funds issued from the insurance company - but they did not really want to. The house was left as filthy as you could possibly imagine. Dents in walls (there was a big machine driving around it) dust in every crook and cranny, an oven door broken (was replaced by contractor but he wanted me to claim it on my insurance at first). Would I do business with them again - not on your life, I'll stick with a local contractor.

At the start, there was a miscommunication about the furniture needing to be broken down and moved from each room. Instead of discussing a solution, he immediately began complaining that it should have already been done and that it wasn't his responsibility. I explained that everyone in my household had taken the day off specifically to help move anything necessary. It wasn't until my spouse stepped in and asked that we work together on a solution that the conversation shifted. Even after a plan was agreed upon, my family and I had to continue listening to him make negative remarks about our home and belongings, including saying we had "shit everywhere" and that he didn't know what to tell the other installer because "everything was a mess." I later learned that this installer is related to someone in management, which may explain the attitude we experienced. Despite this individual's behavior, I was extremely pleased with the overall service and the final result.
