As I was about to pay, the lady finally came to the front of the store, but only to tell the the male staff member to help the person who came in behind me & then she walked away again. I figured she must be the manager because she was telling her fellow employee what to do. So I asked her if she was the manager because I wanted to make a point of telling her how helpful her employee had been to me. She said she was not & then went back to her phonecall. This lady really soured an otherwise pleasant adventure to your establishment. I hope the actual manager will have a stern word with her about optics & customer perception.

There are shoes piled up everywhere, in no apparent order. I was told I would get a text when my shoes were ready. I waited a month, but then it was the holidays and I figured I'd check in early in the New Year. When i called in early January, he had no idea which boots were mine even though I had a (worthless) ticket stub with a number on it. After 10 minutes of asking me details of what my boots look like, he said he found them and they weren't fixed, but he'd text me when they were ready. The next week I called, and he texted back "sick day." I texted two days later to see if he was open, but no response. I went in a week later to just try to get my boots back. At this point, I knew they wouldn't be fixed. Once we found my boots among the huge piles of shoes, he proceeds to immediately start using the blow dryer tool and making small talk, without giving me any chance to just take the unfixed boots back. They very clearly had not been reglued; there had been no glue reapplied. He handed them to me and demanded $20. I was shocked. I took the boots, and immediately saw that the soles were still not attached. Annoyed, I showed him. He immediately started yelling at me that I could go to Victoria if I didn't like how he did it. My husband was with me and was appalled as well. The man never intended to properly fix my boots. He just wanted my $20. Such blatant theft. If only I had checked the reviews before I'd been to this shop, or gone with my gut feeling when walking into this shop with mountains of boots and shoes piled up.

He's a major creep! After speaking to several other women I know, they too have experienced this gross behaviour and refuse to go anywhere near his shop.

They have now relocated to Robson street and Hornby (near Mac cosmetic store). Here's why I think it's totally worth visiting: 1. Not mass made: every piece is slightly stained differently as all is done by hand. They take leather goods to a whole different level. 2. If you're interested in good quality vs. being a brand whore: real calf, Python, crocodile for a fraction of over priced LV, etc. 3. Non pretentious atmosphere: if you're waiting to be ignored, or greeted by someone who has no clue about details, wrong place. (You can go to Holt Renfrew for that). There are only four people who work at this location and very well versed in all leather and upkeep. 4. On going customer service: my husbands sole go worn down more so than expected over a year. No issue! Carlos is sending them off for some TLC to their cobbler for a fix up. 5. Price: don't come here if you're looking for something under 200 dollars. This is unique wear, and you can feel the quality. Rest assured that you may be spending 400 dollars on a pair of shoes, but you're getting even more quality than you're paying for. 6. Come here and support this wonderful business and don't get scared by some of the very "loud" pieces at the window.

I walked into the shop totally clueless, asking about leather scraps. The shop guys working there were super helpful. Assisted me in finding the leather piece that I was looking for. I really like this shop, it's full of leather and tools and accessories for working with leather. Not that I do, but if I have to go back to get leather or anything like that I will go to this one. I told one of the sales women (I think she was the manager) over and over that I didn't want to try on a certain item, yet she brought the item to my dressing room and hung it on my dressing room rack anyway (are you kidding me?!). I eventually bought an item that was too snug for me and took it home, only to have to return it after I came to my senses. Now I have a store credit I have to use (no refunds) so I will have to go back, if only to use up the cost of my folly listening to someone who was only interested in selling me something, not whether or not it looked good on me. Thank goodness for one of the other sales consultants who ran interference with the manager, so I didn't have to tell her over and over - No, thank you. Once should have been enough.
