Like Shawn P's mother, my mother lived at Bay Vista Commons for over 18 months. Unlike Shawn, my mother's experience was fantastic. I visited my mother often, I sat with her at meals at all times of the day and on weekends. She started her life there in a nice apartment, but soon transitioned to their memory care unit (thank god they had this unit). The staff are fantastic, they provided my mother with love, attention, respect and dignity. I suspect that food can always be better, heck the food at my house can be better, but my mother enjoyed her meals, she was a social person in her younger life and she enjoyed that dining room socialization.
I am an architect, and I design senior living facilities across the northwest. I understand quality environments for seniors and believe me Bay Vista is a fine home for seniors. I also know many of the providers of Senior Living through my profession and I can say that without a doubt, Martha & Mary is at the top of the list for great care, quality, and service.
I am sorry that Shawn's mother's experience is not as good as my mother's was. My mother passed away in March (about the time Shawn wrote his review), I was there holding her hand, the staff were there caring for her and me during this difficult time. The staff have continued to reach out periodically, two of them who were particularity close to her attended her Irish wake.
I am not going to counter all of Shawn's accusations or rants about no internet etc., but I can say this, do not let Shawn's review sway you, visit Bay Vista and make a decision for yourself. Do you home work and find the right place for your parent. And visit often to be sure that your loved one is being cared for as you would expect.
