Here you hire your own personal glade in the Wood complete with fire pit, cute carved benches and your personal cooking grate to knock up a truly rustic feast. The location is really beautiful and while you are in the country and will certainly need a car to reach to site, it's still close enough to Brighton (about 4 miles from Ditchling) to be easily accessible. Be warned though, this place is immensely popular and weekend stays are already fully booked for the summer season of 2010. You can check for availability of glades on their website and you may get lucky and find a slot from a cancellation. The lady who runs the site lives in a caravan at the campsite, complete with chickens running about the place. She has a small shop with supplies including milk and firewood. There are also showers and proper toilets. If you don't feel like sleeping in a tent there are also a number of buses, Gypsy caravans and suchlike to hire for a more comfortable stay. The prices are reasonable and this is really a great way to camp, whilst still retaining the magic of the experience. A real gem and unique approach to a great British pastime. I cannot recommend this place enough!

You sometimes have to search for the right sizes but the clothing is usually very good condition and sometimes you can find brand new even if it is ex military. They also sell quite a bit of camping gear at reasonable prices.

She refused to price them up despite having done it before right in front of me. Since the gentleman that partnered the business left for hospital its lost its touch. As a former shooting instructor, I can honestly say the lady working there, has zero idea what she is talking about, she gives incorrect advice, under pays for items and sells them way over the RRP despite being grade 2 equipment. And when confronted on the fact she had wasted my time and money (bus fare being £4.30 per day), i was told "pi** off, you could have called in." Also worth noting, she did have my contact info and could have called ME, as it's her business. I appreciate her being in a tough spot, but dont take it out on customers and dont waste their time. Was an avid supporter of the shop, now I cant bear the thought of supporting someone who so blatantly trying to over charge and outright rude.

Visited the last week in August and the park is very popular…read more Shower blocks clean and one of the blocks has big private changing rooms for families. the kids adventure playground is great and we loved watching the red kites flying around. there is a pub in the village which is very popular and another one on the main road they both do very good food. Riverbank is great for picnics. Kids didn't want to leave!

We arrived late, and after phoning the site and advising our late arrival, she stayed late to let us in. Then when we couldn't put up our tent because it was new, and using car headlights in the dark. She stayed with us and helped us. Far beyond the call of duty! Whilst this is not something that you could expect or plan for, it was a very welcome start to a holiday that could have gone horribly wrong from the first day. Thanks Vicky, we will definately come again. This camp site also allowed you to have an electricity point within your tent, and for a small fee, there is also a refrigerator hire service, which would keep your milk fresh, of your beer cold, or both!

Our children love this location for its space and the animals on the site (horses, pigs, lambs). When the sun is shining the location of this site means its extremely peaceful and relaxing. The facilities include running water and a CDP but thats about it, but thats pretty much all you need at this site. In the surrounding areas there are some lovely walks, rides and pubs with plenty of stores a short drive away. Its proximity to Canterbury, Ashford and more means you've got plenty to visit as well. Rabble's philosophy is that exercise should be fun, so their…read moregames are throwbacks to childhood and the playground (British Bulldogs, Dodgeball, all variations of Tag, Frisbee, Robin Hood, Zombie Hunt) and the equipment involves bouncy balls, Nerf guns, foam javelins, and (at one point) and inflatable banana. I once tracked a game with GPS and ran 5k within one session. They're reasonably priced - I've bought two £50 packages, each of which covers 10 games to be used anytime - and switch between North, South, and City; once a month is an epic North vs South playoff. Before you think this is like BMF but with "childish" games, come check out a session. Everyone enjoys themselves all the time. (Compare the smiling faces of Rabblers to the scowls of any other fitness group.) Charlotte & Rosemary, who run the sessions, are encouraging and playful themselves and never want anyone to have a bad time; there are no sore losers in Rabble! It's just the right amount of competitive for those who can't dedicate so much time and energy to playing an amateur sport, and while you'll be missed if you don't show up, the team won't lose because you're not there as teams are semi-randomly assigned at the start of each session. The question remains: do you run faster when you're chasing or being chased?? Either way, I've definitely improved my fitness over the past year with this gang and had a blast to boot. All sessions end with a trip to the pub for drinks (weeknights) or lunch (weekends). It's a great crowd!

Rabble makes me sad that I don't live in London right now…read more Rabble is absolutely great, the team are fantastic, and it's just so easy to meet people and enjoy exercise. There are a lot of throwbacks to your time on the playground, and it actually is super fun- when I first went it wasn't when I was converted to gym-bunniness either. It's outdoors, so it's as fresh as you can get for London, and gosh does it make you competitive! I don't know if it's because it's team games where you're against others, or because you refuse to be out of breath and lose at a game in your twenties that you won so much in first school, but it works! Make sure you take enough water, especially if it's hot.
