I signed up myself, my partner, and our friends for the computer chip heist scavenger hunt at the…read moreComputer History Museum. Although we enjoyed the general plot of the scavenger hunt and liked the experience of narrowing down who the culprit was, we felt that the clues were excessively specific, as we had to skim through every label in each area of the museum to get the information we needed. I think we would've preferred more general clues where you could still enjoy the information in that area of the museum without having to work so hard to search through each line of text. I also felt like the clues given were not very connected to the objects in the museum, and the plot of the mystery didn't seem very relevant to the setting of the museum. This took us out of the environment of the museum and made the experience less enjoyable. I felt that the length of was too long at 2.5 hours, although if the clues hadn't been as specific, perhaps we would have been less mentally exhausted at the end. We felt that it was fairly easy to narrow down the culprit with a handful of clues, so I think it would have made for far more intrigue if the clues were more directly tied to the plot and involved more thinking rather than just piecing together tidbits of information. My biggest qualm was the price of the scavenger hunt. I felt like paying $60 for to cover the cost of the museum admission, the video at the beginning of the scavenger hunt, and the website that was made for the scavenger hunt was very unreasonable. An average escape room in the area is about $40 to $50, and escape rooms have much more upfront expenses for the organizers, including the cost of renting the space, the elaborate props, and the staffing. This was a fairly enjoyable one-time experience, but in the future I would just go to an escape room.

Reached out to Bay Mystery Scavenger Hunts to plan our team offsite. Got a response from Tal and it…read morewas breeze from then on. Tal provided accurate descriptions of how each experience would be and what are the available options. Tal was very patient while I sorted out the date of the event and also the experience we wanted. Not going to give any spoilers on the event but we chose the Escape from haunted mansion. The event was held in Sports Page Bar where our team of 17 members split into five groups. The puzzles to solve were very creative and simulates your brain. Also is good team building experience where we need to work as a team and individually to escape within the time. As part of the experience we all got a drink/snack as complimentary. To top it all Tal gave a nice prize/gift to the winning team. Lastly I would like to highlight the amazing customer experience where we booked for 19 people and only 17 people turned up. Tal was able to get us the refund for the two no shows. I will be definitely excited to try out their other scavenger hunts in the upcoming years.

Jay and Kelly put together the perfect package for me to meet the theme of an over 200 person event. They customized the activity to meet the specialty of the group of providers. The games and activities were unique and fun. The group loved the challenge of solving the critical thinking group puzzles with a twist. The activity was a big hit and we got lots of compliments. This is my second time working with ROI and I will definitely seek to work with ROI again especially for our large events. The fact that they made an activity that was so successful for such a large group of clinical leaders was impressive. Jay and Kelly have such a great track record of delivering high quality activities and events.

His instructions were clear, easy to follow, and we appreciated his level of energy and enthusiasm throughout the event. Overall, all of the team members had rave reviews about Jon and the event, so I'd like to give a personal Yelp shoutout to Jon and the team. We look forward to many more partnerships to come.

I've done hostage 80 percent of my trips here and this is the first time meeting the guy on the poster. He was definitely a great gm and funny too, and definitely catered to helping scare our group of friends that never been to an escape room before. Really hope to continue bringing more people here in the future and excited for the many other experiences that's soon to come. Best horror escape room in the Bay Area!

The puzzle flow is confusing…read moreand/or non-existent, partially because it's not obvious what is a "main quest" puzzle and what is a "side quest" puzzle and therefore it's super easy to get sidetracked, and partially because the tech is so poorly maintained that it's not obvious if you actually solved something correctly or if the GM just felt sorry for you and let you progress forward. A lot of the parts of the room are just straight up broken (like missing hooks) or look broken with chipping paint or loose screws. Even GM-controlled devices like music volume and other tech don't work properly and caused us to have a frustrating experience. We did think it was kind of fun to do non-puzzle things to solve clues, but with everything else working as poorly as they did, that didn't make up for the rest of the room.

Lots of figuring things out and collaborating. We sucked but took it in stride and still had a really good. Currently there are 6 gaming rooms, though more rooms are in the works. The games offered in each room change depending on how many people are in your group. And there are different levels, so once you beat the game, you can return to the same room to advance to the next level. If you fail, you leave the room for it to reset and then can return to try again as many times as you want. I'd never done escape rooms or anything like this, and was really impressed at the sophistication and technology. You get 1 hour and 45 minutes to play, and time flies fast. Came on a Friday night at 8pm and there were only about 2 other groups. Free parking in lot. The man showing us around (Tim?) was really nice. Overall a great experience to try. I'll be back with other friends for sure.

We beat at least level 1 on all the rooms except one--the marble contraption. I enjoyed that there was a good mix of skills required in each of the rooms. Some of the physical ones really tired me out! I think this would be a good birthday party activity for 7/8th grade kids and above, as long as they're semi-mature and the type of kids that enjoy puzzles.
