In the end the only thing I really liked was the name of the place although a person I trust likes this place. Such is life. PS - I later remembered the name of the pub up the road. It's called The Vine. The front bar is called The Vineyard. In all of Melbourne there's not a place that looks less like a vineyard.

I played it safe and went with a chicken schnitzel as we all know that you pick safe dishes when you're at country pubs. Well it was a cold slab of non-chicken meat whatever served with boiled carrot and zucchini that was mushy and gross, and a roast potato. And at $19 it's not the greatest value meal in the world. Eating companions had a lasagne and the lamb shanks and there was certainly a consensus on the quality of food. If you're in the area head for the pelican cafe down at the Mariana.

Sands has friendly staff and service with a clean dining area. We ordered the rump steak and chicken schitz.. it is what it is .. after a few beers and wine .. everything was better :) the steak turned out OK .. the mash was pretty good. the schitz I particularly liked .. thick not dry and the crispy bits went well with the beers n wine. no fancy smanshy pairing needed here.. :)

It's a bit fancy, but considering that it is Frankston, one probably shouldn't be too surprised that there happens to be a bouncer at the door that does all of that bouncer stuff. He was good enough nonetheless, so I can't complain. The rooftop deck was the only part that was open, which was pretty cool mind you, because you do get a great view.
