The ceilings are vaulted brick which gives it a fun churchy-bar atmosphere. The DJ played everyone's favorite hip hop and R&B hits from the 90s-00s, and everyone was really getting into it. There's no coat check but there are tons of pegs on the wall where everyone's coats were lined up like at school. Above the coat rack is a narrow shelf to set your drink when you're finished. There's an upstairs area with seating and foosball and (surprisingly) clean bathrooms. I didn't pay for my drinks (hooray for boobies!) but I don't think a typical long drink would exceed 9 euros. Tons of fun, lots of people dancing, only thing I didn't like was the downstairs floor has a weird 2 inch drop once you step away from the bar. Precarious if you're carrying shots.

My import beer was €4. That is just insanely cheap. How are they making money? I nursed my one beer for fear of having to go to the bathroom and missing out on ANYTHING. I was upstairs in the beautiful but small concert area and wasn't about to lose my spot near the stage. And then the concert started and then I died. Surrounded by a bunch of sort-of-likeminded fans, it was a great place to feel like, "OMG. Can anyone actually survive from being this happy?!" By the nights end, some lovely gal finally convinced me to put my coat back on before going outside and probably actually freezing to death. Could I really freeze to death, though? When one is so overly blissed out from chatting with Matthew Mole, the best singer in the whole entire world, who is super entirely nice, and omg, so sweet, and wonderful, and amazing, and is so worth everything it took to get here... oh, my heart. How the Prinzebar was able to contain all of this is beyond me. The guy at the coat check counter was also super lovely. Great intimate venue, insanely cheap prices, and filled with tons of really amazing feelings. Swoon!

They were also really helpful in explaining the menu and how you can get a chug (smaller size) if you don't want the full serving. We wanted to try everything. Our main comment and unfortunately it affected our experience a lot is that smoking is allowed inside. This is not uncommon for bars in this country but they could have provided a pleasant experience for everyone and not just some by not allowing smoking inside. We smelled like smoke and our drinks came with a side of ill health. Other than that, we loved this bar and maybe it won't be raining next time so we can sit outside (where people still smoke but the smoke has somewhere to go).

Genuine atmosphere, a bit dark, just what's needed, with cool music and people. I tried their special menu which basically is a 6-course cocktail tasting (no worries, they all come into the "Chug" size glass;)) through which you'll discover their signature recipes. I told her my typical "go to" bourbon cocktails and she came back with a variant that was very nice. On point! Old Fashioned with maple syrup and peanut accents. Wound up having two. :) For food, I tried their chicken club. So good! Maybe the best club sandwich I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it had hard boiled egg and a great sauce. Literally finger lickin' good. The room is very nicely and modernly decorated and the music was perfect, to my liking. Glad I stopped in. Give it a try. :)

This is a BAR REVIEW…read more The hotel lobby and bar are beautiful and fun places to grab a drink and catch up with friends, except Friday or Saturday nights you may run into a live DJ and a crowd. What I love is the crowd is a myriad of ages, I swear there was a 90-something-year-old at the bar this visit, which only adds to the character. The bar men are dressed to kill, suspenders and all, and the waiters don't miss a step. The drink menu may take you half the night to read through, but it strings the conversation around the world as you discover a glass of whiskey from such and such island can actually cost that much. Yes, prices are high, but you will leave satisfied. I suggest: try a NEW drink. You can get your good'ol gin*n tonic elsewhere.
