The McDermott Athletic Center offers what appears to be a regulation-sized rink, well maintained, with bench risers for spectators and heart-slobbery pop rock (think Gin Blossoms) on the speakers for teens who really don't have much to do in Rio Rancho besides flirt on ice. It's sweet, it really is, and such a law-abiding way to pass the time. My daughter also learned how to skate on this ice, she's eight, and I had a good time, even if I didn't represent my tribe very well. Obviously, this Center staffs a team of skate instructors and hosts team play on the regular. We visited for a birthday party, checking on pricing, a group of up to 10 kids, rentals, pizza and soda included appears to be a great deal.
