We came here for the first time on Wednesday for a date night and it was a blast! We were both novices so we were a bit worried it was going to be frustrating not ever hitting the target but luckily we were wrong. The guy who checked us in was amazing! After the safety spiel, he spent the time helping us find our marks so that we would hit the board every time.....and it worked! I walked away feeling like a bad ass and looking forward to the next date night. They have a kitchen and bar too, which is pretty cool. The fries were well seasoned and the beer was cold, what more could you ask for? The set up of the lanes is pretty cool and overall this is just a great spot. HIGHLY recommend coming here! read more

My fiance and I came on Saturday for a date night. They were running behind a bit, but we went ahead and sat at the bar for some drinks and snacks. We got some beers, which all cost $9/pint, wings, and some fries. The guy behind the bar was so high he couldn't remember who ordered what, and it was just the two of us in front of him. Thowing axes was fun, we enjoyed basic games, making up our own, and just having a good time. Overall a fun time and we'll be back, but probably won't get much to eat or drink. read more

Not sure You will enjoy throwing an ax or ninja stars? The doubters in our group are now believers wanting to plan our next event at ABQ Ax. We had a blast. Don't know if you can throw an ax? They will guide you through the process. I've watched even the least athletic in our group put a huge smile on their faces after putting the ax in the target. It is $22.50 for an hour of fun. You need to sign a liability waiver. Go a little early or pull up online so the staff can pull up when you arrive. Must wear closed toed shoes as well. There are libations available for purchase as well. Your time to play starts at the top of the hour so be on time. ABQ AX is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays unfortunately but they need some time off too. Diane got me on board. She's the best. Caleb did our instruction yesterday. We had two newbies in our group. I came here for a friends birthday and it was such a fun time! Our whole group arrived late, but luckily there is a bar right next door where you can wait and hang out and they can hold your reservation for you! Throwing an ax is sooo cool! I wasn't very good at it but it was really fun and helps you get out aggression! I'm glad the bar was not attached, which was my original thought because there could have been some accidents! We originally went here last year for a birthday and had a blast! Since then, we participated in their traveling axe throwing trailer and then we joined their league. Axe throwing, I thought, would be fairly easy but there is specific technique! Not only is the axe throwing a blast, the people, staff, and environment is a class act! They have mimosas and beer that are very good! The bar food is bar food but it's good bar food. Don't worry about missing the game as there are tv's present to show the play by play! A great time here and I would encourage anyone interested to come to this place. And yes, safety is number one with staff present to ensure no one does anything stupid. read more

This was fantastic! I had been wanting to do this for awhile and so did another member of our group (the one who had suggested it)... We arrived with our group of 11 with two lanes reserved. It was a little difficult to nail it at first, but our instructor (didn't catch his name) had gone over all the safety rules with us and even spent some extra practice time with me to get my technique down better. We had only paid for an hour slot, but with the 3 games we played- ABQ AX, 81, and bullseye (and our instructor telling the other employees "5 more minutes"), it came out to about an hour and 45 minutes (a really great deal for $15/ hour on weekdays). So much fun! There's also the Craftroom next door that I would also recommend checking out (which if you have a hard time finding the ax throwing entrance, it's literally right next door from the Craftroom). 2020 #7 read more

I stopped here yesterday for a friend's birthday and it was absolutely fantastic and super fun! We had wonderful coaches who guided us on how to properly throw the axe and gave us a safety training. We were there for 2.5 hours and they had a ton of different games that we could play! I will definitely be going back, because this place is so awesome and so fun! We previously hosted a corporate event here and everyone LOVED it! The staff was friendly, helpful, and made it a really fun team bonding event. The food was great and they had a nice drink selection for everyone too. Don't miss! I've thrown axes before, but not at ABQ Ax and I definitely won't be going back to this one. The "coach" (read "babysitter") was helpful at first and showed us what to do. That was all well and good. Then he left us alone, which was great. We were doing fine, but after a couple of misses, the tall coach with the gauges came over to help, which I didn't need. I knew what to do, I just wasn't as accurate for a couple of throws. He finally left and we were continuing on our own. I switched to the small hatchet, threw one time, and it banged the wall (it's way lighter than the two-handed ax). Sure enough, the original coach comes back and tells me that I'm throwing it too hard (no duh, it was my first throw with the lighter ax and I hadn't dialed it in yet). He's trying to correct my form again, and again I didn't need his help. He finally left after a couple minutes. Later, I'm trying to aim for the untouched left board on the target board with the small ax, I miss and it hits the wall to the left of the board. And wouldn't you know it, a third person, the older lady behind the desk comes over and says I'm throwing it too hard for safety reasons and she doesn't want me to get hurt (yeah, okay). After telling her thank you a hundred times so she'd finally leave, she left. We were accosted THREE times during our 1-hour stay here. Then while checking out, they ask if you want to leave a tip for your "coach" lol Absolutely not. I'm not sure if they just didn't have anything better to do tonight or what. But the moral of the story is, don't miss otherwise all of the staff will come after you. $45 for an hour of being accosted by the staff. Never again. read more

We had no idea what to expect when we planned our group axe throwing night here last night. We were more than pleased with the whole experience!
