f I could go lower I would wipe this guy off the board!!! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT USE THIS GUY! Started to do a repair charged 125 to tell us he needed to order a part. In the amount of 363.11. Meanwhile he also charged shipping and handling and additional labor charge of 75 dollars to install a part that his diagnostics got wrong. Now mind you this family has been without a washer for almost 2 months! The money invested in this nonsense is the price of a new washer!! So now he ordered a part that does not work, and doesn't know what is wrong with the washer but charged $125.00 to tell us he did!! So now with upset elderly parents out a total of $611.02 total and no washer. So I called the guy and stated he has has long enough (4/20/26) to repair this and a refund is needed so they may get a new washer and move on. The owner of BATTENS APPLIANCE went ballistic on the phone screaming and yelling and making threats! He's going to sue us for telling the public the truth!! I welcome his gesture. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND ITS OBVIOUS HES HURTING FINANCIALLY to take advantage of elderly people.i will not let this go my next call is to better business and on up!! This company does not need to be in business. VERY SAD A COMPANY MAN TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A 83 and 80 year old!! SHAME ON YOU BATTENS APPLIANCES IN ST MARYS Georgia!! HORRIBLE COMPANY, OWNER AND EMPLOYEES How is Batten's Appliance still operating???? With all these bad reviews, they shouldn't have scammed more people. I had the misfortune of calling them to fix my washing machine. They made me pay for the diagnostic, and the parts so they can order them. It took them 3 weeks to order the parts and when it came and scheduled the repairman to come, they cancelled on the day he was supposed to come because he was sick. They never came and they will not give me my money back. These people are horrible!!! read more

DO NOT GO THERE All these reviews are true and correct. This company does not care about any customer. They will scam you of your money and time. I called them requiring of their service for my washing machine that will not start. They charged us the diagnosis fee, the part and the labor and required us to pay for everything amounting to $300+. They made us wait for 3 weeks saying that the part has not come yet. After three weeks, they scheduled a maintenance person to come and then cancelled on the day of the appointment saying the he is sick. Re-scheduled us the next day. Someone left a note at the door saying they knocked and we didn't answer the door, when I've been sitting on the couch right next to the door and there was no knock. They are liars! They lied to us from day one. The saddest part is they took advantage of a 76-year old lady. read more

They did an amazing job getting us ready for Thanksgiving! They arrived on time, promptly got everything ordered and install was sooner than expected. They were very professional and proactive in taking care of us! Thank you Battens! read more

The fan was extremely loud on my new 48" Cafe electric/gas range. Batten Appliances came out and inspected my range. He ordered two fans to be replaced at the back of the unit. The parts arrived within a week and they were available to come out the next day. The repair went very smooth. They arrived on time (one hour window) and went to work. He had the right tools to move this beast of a range without scratching the range or my new wood floors. The job was done in less than a hour. My range fans are purring! I'm surprised how quiet they are. Both workers were polite, efficient and professional. I highly recommend Batten's Appliance. read more

https://youtu.be/bapm3mvOlD8 See video above of how quickly owner turned his back, refused to service, and still billed our insurance. Crooked Batten's. 1 star bc 0 not an option. Batten's owner (pictured) arrived with younger technician to repair our dishwasher heating element. They contracted through Old Republic Home Warranty. I said we do not wear outdoor footwear in our home (for sanitary and spiritual/religious reasons). I purchased disposable footwear covers (similar to what food preparation/hospital workers might use); we have chairs as needed. I could have put down towels, or a tarp for them had they chosen to work with our needs. Owner said he can't do it because he broke his back and could not bend down. I said I would put them on for him. He immediately turned his back and began walking away, said, "I'd rather just send it back". He quickly submitted a bill to our warranty company for the visit saying service was not able to be provided. I wonder how he got his shoes on that day? How was he prepared to inspect our below counter level dishwashing heating element given that he was unable to bend over. I would have happily worked with him to accommodate both of our health/physical health needs, but he was ready to throw the towel in immediately.. did not want to work, the owner has silently quit his own company, and it shows. He still billed, wasted everyone's time, and his dismissive response felt untrustworthy. Terrible service, he doesn't value his employee who came that day who could have assisted, nor our time as residents, or much of anything it felt like. My Overall Take Away from Battens: He Just Doesn't Care. Zero Stars. 0 read more

I was attempting to have my refrigerator repaired and it took almost five month to get the part. The issued was not resolved so around July 2023, the company made a second visit and stated they will call back the next day. I have not received a call as of yet after three messages were left on 8/1, 8/10, and 8/18/2023. read more

Employees lied about the status of my repairs (claiming that a part was on back order) for two months. I didn't get a call back until I contacted Lowe's. Dishonest and unreliable. read more

They are getting one star only because I can't give them zero. After installing a garbage disposal for which I'd waited almost two weeks, I was informed a hose was bad and would need to be ordered. When I called on a Friday to check status of the order, Kiki, the office manager, said it had come in tht morning and the earliest she could schedule a service call would be Monday. I was expecting out of town guests and really needed my dishwasher, so asked if she would check with her technition to see whether he would be willing to engage in some overtime. She never called back. When my husband called her, she said she'd been mistaken. While one of the hoses (first time we've heard more than one) had come in, the other one hadn't. Now knowing I've been lied to, I called a neighbor who is a former contractor. After taking a look under my sink, he said the problem was not the hose, but that the technition had broken the coupler. He went to Lowe's and within 30 minutes I had a working garbage disposal and dishwasher. So the technition also lied, the result of which would have been paying for a part I didn't need and another service call when the tech himself could have gone to Lowe's which is 10 minutes from my house and completed the repair the same day. Kiki never called back and the kicker, I found out later, is that the technition is none other than the owner, James Rue. To echo S. S., extremely dishonest and unreliable. read more

This company is very unprofessional and they seems not to care about anything but them self and their window of service is about 8 hours. They lied about they called and didn't and tried to reschedule another week and a half. I would never recommend this company to anyone and they should not be in business. Their repairman scratched my appliance and the owner is offering zero resolution. They came out for a warranty repair on 12/10/19 and did not bring any parts with them...just came to diagnose I suppose. I asked the repairman not to place anything on the dryer and what does he do? Place his drill directly on the dryer and scratches is up. Now the owner is telling me his worker didn't place anything on the dryer and is refusing to help in any way. If you have to hire this company, watch them like hawks and take pictures or video of them placing their equipment all over your appliances. You've been warned! read more

New leadership since 2018 provides Camden County with a dependable LOCAL appliance service company for repairs AFTER the sale which are most important. I have used Battens fir GE, Amana & most recently Bosch service. Starting with Pam in the office for scheduling promptly the field team of Denny, JC & Jake do their best to diagnose the problem efficiently but are at the mercy of wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers for parts needed. Our dishwasher repair was lengthy but mainly due to Bosch dragging their feet on an expensive warranty part. In the future I will seek Battens opinion in addition to Consumer Reports for appliances. April update Sadly after 4 months without dishwasher we replaced 3 year old Bosch unit. Was it Bosch or Battens? Disappointed in both. read more

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible, by far worst customer service I have ever experienced from any company hands down! Lowes warranty department contracted out to them for dryer repair. Came out on Monday, did diagnosis, had to order parts said they should be in around Wed-Thur time frame, Thurs comes around and no phone call on update or status of parts so I call to check, well apparently they could not find our service ticket and the person that was in charge of the tickets (and apparently the only person that knows what's going on) and ordering the parts was out of the office for an entire week. Now it's over a week later and they found the ticket and now are saying there is a delay in shipment of the parts and possibly won't be able to do repair until Friday afternoon, but at least this time they called with an update. Absolutely unbelievable that this company is still in business based on the lack of communication/organization within the company and with their customers! read more

PLEASE READ THIS AND PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! We rented our Uhaul from here, and it was an incredibly pleasant experience. Very easy for us. Everyone was super nice to us, and helpful. When we returned our Uhaul, we saw an appliance that we were really interested in, because it fit our new small apartment and was perfectly priced. It was a washer/dryer combo. It washed and dried clothes. We were told that the appliance worked, a lot of things were replaced on it, and that nothing was wrong with it. We believed them without reading other reviews online, and took the appliance home. As soon as we got it home, it turned on, washed, but did NOT drain, and did NOT dry. I attempted to call the business SEVERAL times. It took a month for me to get ahold of anyone and get them to come pick it up to look at it. They claimed that we broke it (because a month had passed since I called, but in reality I was trying to call the whole month.). A few months passed, and I heard nothing about my appliance. I left voice mails constantly and nobody would return my calls. I posted on Facebook on a county group asking what I should do, and a lot of other people told me they've had the same problem with Batten's. So.... The last voicemail I left was one stating that I would like my money back, and told them. Not to contact me anymore, and guess what? They finally returned my call. But guess what else... They weren't very nice to me either. I believe her name was Lezlie who called me. She told me that she will not have me "harassing her, and shaming her company online." She told me she would have them drop the appliance off at my apartment, but I would NOT be getting my money back.... This business KNEW that they sold me a broke appliance. Needless to say, I contacted my bank, and they made sure my money was refunded. I will NEVER EVER EVER recommend this place to ANYONE! read more

I just had an excellent experience with Denny at Batten's Appliance. My Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers needed service, and Denny stepped up to service them. The regional manager for Fisher & Paykel has made customer visits with him and witnessed his proficiency, which gave me courage. Denny diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts and returned in two weeks right on time, right parts and all went as planned. I am back in business and grateful not to be handwashing my dishes anymore! Gratitudes to Denny and Fisher & Paykel for getting our kitchen back in full operation. Have a little patience as they are a small repair shop with a family legacy transition and with the upturn in the economy they are busy. read more

Update: I scheduled SEARS to come look at the fridge. Not only were they able to come a day earlier than scheduled, the technician fixed the refrigerator while he was here. I am so grateful to SEARS! Turns out, you can't diagnose a closed refrigeration system without hooking up a valve to the compressor and analyzing it (I learned this from the SEARS technician). Battens owner, who was the person who came to look at my fridge, never actually diagnosed the problem. The SEARS tech told me in the first ten minutes EXACTLY what my problem was, which was not even in the same ballpark of what Battens told me - which was a guess anyway because he didn't actually do anything but look at the fridge. read more

They represent American Home Shield, so we had no other choice for repairs. I worked at Lowe's for 6 years and they have a terrible reputation in our appliance department. The 'new' owner said he had only owned the company for 2 years, but it is clear the attitude has not changed. They were supposed to work on the washing machine and dishwasher. The polite assistant started on the washing machine, and the owner waddled into the kitchen to look at the dishwasher. The bottom rack had been replaced and it stuck out further than the one that had been removed previously. It caused the door on the second wash to not open completely, so the rinse water was picking up soap from the partially open dispenser, so the dishes came out with soap on them. Then, he starts telling me that he had done this for 26 years and they all did that. Sorry, but we have had this dishwasher for 11 years and we never had the problem. He gets irate when I explain I am smart enough to figure out the problem and the bottom rack is too long. He yelled at the assistant to stop and he stormed out the door. As he left, I heard enough to know that he called a MFer. Very volatile individual and I would not recommend the company at all. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Batten was assigned by my home warranty co. to fix my dishwasher back in April. After a visit to diagnose, he ordered the part and installed it. Now, in September, the exact same issue started with the dishwasher again. Assigned again by the warranty co., the incredibly rude woman who answered the Batten phone explained that, if it was the same part, it would be covered under warranty. But when the owner showed up a week and a half later, he explained that it was up to the home warranty company to warranty the part. WHAT? Then, when I argued the case with him, he cancelled my call and didn't order the replacement part. Terrible customer service. Back in April, when he installed the part the first time, he asked that I give him a 5-star rating on Yelp as he was trying to rebuild the Batten reputation. I'm sure glad that I didn't!! He certainly doesn't stand behind his work! read more

I was referred to Batten's Appliance by GE to fix a GE Monogram Wall Oven. I called to schedule an appointment. On my first call, I left a message and the machine said they would call me back within 24 hours. Didn't hear back for a couple days, so called again. Got a young lady, who seemed surprised I hadn't been called back, but took a message. Next day, called again. The lady who answered was helpful and scheduled an appointment for the following week. I had to change the appointment, and the same lady who made the first appointment rescheduled me - again, no issues, and she was helpful. My problem is with the day of appointment. When the technician arrived, I answered the door wearing a mask and asked him if he could please wear a mask, and I could provide him a surgical mask, if he didn't have one. He said "I'm vaccinated and I'm not wearing a mask". Well, good for you - you're vaccinated. Maybe I'm not, maybe I have a compromised immune system, you have no idea and you clearly don't care that this is MY house and I am paying you for the service. I turn to my husband and he says he'll call Batten's. The man hears this and says "I'm the owner, and I'm not going to wear a mask". I say, "Thank you, we'll decline using your business" and he leaves. In your store you don't have to wear a mask, but if I ask you to wear a mask in MY HOUSE, and you basically tell me I'm not important enough for you to care you're putting me at risk, then you are a part of the problem, not the solution. I will NEVER do business with Batten's, and I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

Batten's Appliance is the place our warranty sent to fix our dryer. First, when I called about the appointment, Pam yelled at me because they just had to take a family member to hospice. She didn't have an ounce of customer service skill whatsoever, in our conversation. They finally show up, the service guy told me that our washer and dryer was built to break. He was so loud and obnoxious. Said that there was two things wrong with the dryer, that they would order the parts and be back when they came in. Fast forward 3 weeks. I call them to check in, Pam said there was one part in but still waiting for the other part. I told her we were going to be moving in 30 days, so we would like to get it taken care of sooner than later.. fast forward 3 weeks, I called and Pam told me the other part was in. She said if I can bring the dryer to her, she can have it done by Saturday. (It was Thursday) I said okay. I get my uhaul at 4 on Friday, I can bring it then. Well she called me Friday and told me that's not what she said, we close at 4. She hung up on me after accusing me of cussing at her. She hung up on my husband also. It was just a horrible experience and there was no respect on her side. I just wanted to get my dryer fixed. I will NEVER EVER go to the place or recommend anyone do business with them, ever. read more

We have had nothing but HORRIBLE service from this company. The owner is rude and does not have any idea how to run a business nor does he have any type of customer service skills. We have been waiting since April 1st for an appointment to have our microwave looked at. Its now April 16th and we were never called when the technician arrived like we were assured. We were forced to reschedule this appointment for April 28th... another 2 weeks. Just to look at a microwave. We used them through our home warranty company last year to have our fridge repaired. This entire process took well over 6 months. Yes, you heard that right 6 months to repair a fridge. My family and I ate out of a cooler for 6 months waiting on Battens to repair our fridge. They use the excuse that they are waiting on American Home Shield for the "parts". They always remove the blame from themselves. If their response times were better this would not be such an issue. Under no circumstances should it take WEEKS for an appointment for a microwave repair. read more

By far the worst customer service in the world. I am ashamed to say that that manager is most likely the source of the issue. Her motto seems to center around "Not My Problem". Eventually her disorganization and lack of concern are going to get that place shut down and her employees out of jobs. I wish I could give it negative stars. Took over 3 months to get appliances repaired. There was no follow up after the first set of parts were ordered. They promptly misplaced that set and had to order a new set of parts. Meanwhile providing multiple excuses as to why they were exempt from responsibility. In my opinion, this company is becoming the poster child of what not to do to be successful. The poor management unfortunately cost me a tennant in my rental. I cant blame the tenant, I as the homeowner excepted the responsanility of Battens mistakes and took money off the rent to help ease his frustrations. Unfortunately it did not help. It would be nice if a full blown buisness emulated that form of integrity. When I confronted the manager she stated she relied on the complaining customer to prompt her response to the issue. Further explained, she did not have the time to proactively track clients work orders. We have decided, that due to the fact they are contracted via our home warranty, we would sooner not use the warranty and pay any appliance repair out of pocket than ever give Battens our buisness again. If you do have the misfortune of using them, "Good Luck". read more

Batten's Appliance Called Sunday and left message. Called again Monday 8:30am. They do not listen to the messages. I told them what was wrong and the part they would need. They did not have the part in stock and would not order it until they confirmed the problem. They said they could come Thursday 2-4. Thursday on time. Said I need the part I previously described. Austin said do not get a new Whirlpool washer. This one is repairable. The newer ones are poorer quality. They ordered part. Monday - called twice. Did not return my call. Went to store to check status on parts order. Asked them if they got my message. They said they have 49 unread voice messages. Couldn't find my order. Finally found it in a stack on a desk by my first name only. Looked on computer and told me the part has not been shipped from Alabama. Not convinced the part was ever ordered. Told me part should arrive Wednesday. Usually they wait until the part comes in before scheduling the repair. Another 4+ days. But I asked them to schedule me now anticipating the part arrival. They scheduled me for Thursday morning. They say they replace this part frequently. So, they should have at least one part in stock for faster service. They took way too long (11 days) to get the repair done. The quality of work was OK. I downgraded them for slowness. read more
