This is the greatest group of people all working for one business. The Drs, the Batt brothers, have done a wonderful job of hiring people for their support. The lady that answers the phone is always upbeat, happy and helpful. The techs are all wonderful and really seem to enjoy being at work. They also seem to really care about your pet and you. Dr Batt was honest and took time to talk to me about my old pug. It's so refreshing to go to a Vet who didn't suggest costly things to do. In fact, it was the opposite. He told me my old guy was old and happy, let him leave his life out without doing stressful things to him. I drive from Covington ( 80 miles round trip) to bring my pugs to them because for me and them it's worth the drive and time. Pugs are known for misbehaving for nail trims and these guys handle them with a smile and quickly. They also are the most reasonable priced vet I've found in New Orleans or on the northshore so that's an added bonus! read more

My typical experience here: wait 30 minutes to an hour past the appointment time to be seen. Around 25 minutes in, check with reception; either there's only one vet seeing patients (the other is in surgery), or there have been multiple emergency patients today, or both. I get it - you have to triage patients. But if it's like this every day, there should be communication when your clients check in, or ideally text them an hour or so before the appointment time to let them know if they can expect to be seen on time or if there will be a delay. In my most recent visit, I checked with reception after a half hour of waiting, and I was told that they did not have an estimate on when I'd be seen. Two stars because the folks here do seem to care about their patients, but are - at best - indifferent to their clients. read more

These vets were awesome. About 6 weeks ago, my dog needed an urgent visit, and my regular vet told me, at 8 am, they were closing early that day, so take her to a large emergency vet. We called Batt, right down the street from my husband's job, and without hesitation, and without knowing my dog, we brought her right in. Sadly, we had to let her go 6 weeks later. She was 14ish (she was a stray). But they gave us time to come to terms with it. And when it was time to bring her in, we called from the parking lot, we were ushered into a private room, eventing was explained, and we were given privacy to say our good bytes. The staff at Batt was so kind and thoughtful, especially in those final minutes. I'm so grateful for the care they showed my pup in the end. They will be my vet in the future. read more

Ok y'all so keeping a long story short... had an emergency with one of my dogs and had to find a vet that would take him today so I called Batt Veterinary Services on Metairie road they told me to come in right away with no question as a new patient at almost 4 (closing time). We got there and they met me at the door took him right away. The staff was so caring and concerned for me as well as my dog. They took amazing care of Jax and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I will only use them from this point forward for my babies. We are finally home. He is going to be fine and is resting with his lovey (toy). I love everyone there. I used to live in Kenner but moved to Pensacola almost 2 years ago. I haven't found any vet here that comes close to them. The very first time I talked to David I felt so comfortable and felt like I've known him forever. They are everything that you want in a vet. Extremely knowledgeable, extremely helpful. Batt gave our dog a heart worms preventative when we specifically asked them not to (we called twice to check, as we had just given our dog heart worms medicine the week before). They were surly and dismissive when we expressed concern. Their paperwork and operations are incredibly disorganized. We won't be going back. The doctors Batt are amazing!! They are so knowledgeable and caring. It feels a bit like going to Doctor Dolittle as they help a wide variety of animals (horses, goats, dogs, etc.) They will tell it to you straight and keep the prices as low as possible. They are great to work with. Be clear who is the point person on your pet's records though as adding another person becomes confusing for reception. Our dog got all his shots there, got neutered there, got his heart worm treatment there, and they were amazing about removing a foreign object (we have a very adventurous dog). He was held there overnight and we were able to visit with him and give him a blanket from home to keep him company. The place isn't the cleanest Vet you're going to visit but they do great work at a great price. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new vet. read more

My puppy was there for her rabies shot and heart worm medicine. She was returned to me in her kennel and we went home. Getting her out I noticed she was covered in vomit on her underside. She did not throw up on the ride home as there was no vomit in the kennel. I spoke to one person at the vet about it and she said that my dog was being a little 'bitey' and they did the best they could to clean her. Then another vet got on the phone and said there was no vomit at all?? Then Dr. Batt told me it was drool?? I guess her drool has chunks of food in it. The case of the mysterious vomit. Yea, so check your little animal before leaving, they don't seem to really care about that. read more

I adopted a rescue and Batt gave her the rabies vaccination through the rescue organization. I was supposed to be given the paperwork but they told me I had to have a tag and it would cost me $25. My regular vet says the tag is $10. read more

Love this vet. Greeted by Gertie the goat who thinks she's a dog. Friendly staff. Knowledgeable and caring vets. Very much a local place, not a fancy pet palace. Don't expect any frills whatsoever. Just a great people and animal focused place. They also cater to large animals like horses, not just small domestic pets. I happened to come across Batt Vet when looking for at home euthanasia options for my dog. Even though they had never met me or my pup, I was made to feel that they truly cared every step of way. The receptionist who helped schedule my visit was extremely sympathetic and answered any questions I had. On the day of the appointment Dr. David patiently waited for my pup and I to have our last moments together. He spoke to my family and did whatever he could to make sure everyone and especially my dog were comfortable and at ease. After the visit I received the kindest message from Dr. David offering his condolences and reassuring me of my decision. A couple days after that I received a sympathy card from the clinic that included wildflower seed paper to be planted in my dog's honor. They made the most difficult day a bit easier and for that I'm forever grateful to Batt Vet and Dr. David. read more

These are the best vets. I am a little bit visually disabled so they work with me. they come they pick up my dogs they give them terrific care. And they worry about the bill they're not patting it are not adding extra stuff. they want to make sure that I can give my dogs the best possible care at a price that I can afford. There of been times I tried to pay them more than they charge me because I'm like no that's got to be more. Their tech Jenny Is incredible. She keeps everything running smoothly. If I could give a ZERO I would!!! Ok we have three dogs and three feral kitties and we have been attempting to get this so called wonderful vet out for over two weeks. We keep getting the run around from his office and when they do finally call to say he will be coming out HE IS A NO CALL NO SHOW!!!! Any vet eith any kind of care and compassion would have made it a point to stay a bit late. Then when he calls to "apologize and reschedule he tries to put me off for another whole week!" These guys are the best. I adopted a dog from Kane Haven Rescue and they recommended I bring her to them. I was treated with the warmest respect and gratitude for adopting a rescue dog. I brought another dog that was given to me in only to find out she had every worm known to man including heart worms. They were very caring and concerned. Dr Batt gave me my options and after asking him what was best we started treating her immediately. Even though I will pay what needs to be paid, they are very conscientious of prices and keeping things to a minimum. i set up an appointment the day before to see a specific doctor to treat my dog for kennel cough which she contracted from this place two visits before. the staff told me I would have to wait in my car. i had no issue with that. however 45 minutes later of sitting in my car with my dog in 99 degrees heat. i get a call from the staff telling me that the doctor was not there if i could reschedule and she apologized but i couldn't understand why i did not get a call telling me the doctor was not in. they are obvious unorganized and do not know how to communicate with each other. when you walk into the place you can see the place is utter chaos. i love the doctor but i would rather go somewhere else before i ever go to this place again. read more

This has to be the absolute worse veterinary hospital for a dog by far , the worse went in to have my dog scheduled csection which wasn't cheap at first problem that happened was the told me they would prep her for csection then they'll come get me before pulling pups, that didnt happen they delivered without me in the room didnt fuss it was ok , even I was really upset about it receptionist told me we had 8 pups get to the back and its 6 now I'm confused , then I get home first day it was ok 2nd day of pups bn home my dog delivered another pup on her own so now I'm really pissed because I paid u in full to perform a successful csection and u obviously rushed the process with my dog and took no good care of her took her in to check her out for the pup that she delivered on her own and asked them to check and make sure they're no other pups inside of her they "said" they gave her an ultrasound n none were left got home again two hours later my pup vomits another pup like wtf this company is horrible and should be shut down immediately read more

The vets, especially Dr. Brendan, seem like really good guys. But the facility is pretty horrible. It is super difficult to find and park, and it just gets worse when you go inside. The waiting room is teeny tiny with two falling apart couches, it is blatantly obvious it is not very clean. There are no exam rooms. There's a back part of the shack/shed the vet is in with two exam tables and a bunch of cages and that's it. There were children running around and with no exam rooms, I could hardly hear a word anyone was saying (if they bothered to tell me what was happening at all) over the dogs barking from the cages directly next to the table we were assigned to. Overall, the place is dingy and kinda gross and I did not feel safe taking my pet there. read more

These doctors are fantastic! I have a pet with a very unique health situation that few vets have experienced. Instead of trying to find a better mousetrap and undo all of the work my previous vet accomplished (we moved here recently), Dr. Brendan and Dr. David rolled with it. I took her in for a sick visit last week. I didn't know that Friday afternoons are usually reserved for horses, but when I described her symptoms, they didn't want to wait another day to see her. Dr. David reviewed her records, asked some questions, and sent her home with meds onboard. She was feeling better within hours! Dr. David talked with me about pricing her daily meds with him, which I intend to do. The bill was very reasonable, too. If you're concerned about looks, this definitely isn't the place for you. But if you want vets whose focus is on treating the patient first, that's an accurate description of Batt Veterinary Services. They definitely have my business! read more
