We first worked with them for a kitchen remodel in 2023 and are still blown away by the work they were able to do for us! We removed an old wall and created a kitchen island to open up our space, set up a custom coffee bar, and fully ripped out all old finishings/etc! They were able to match the old arches of our 1927 to bring the character into our modern kitchen that we love about our house. They were extremely communicative about any changes, challenges, or delays. We even went on a long vacation during the project and we felt completely at ease knowing they were progressing on the kitchen while we were away. We recently brought Sadie, Medardo, and Gerardo back in for some plumbing, drywall, and electrical upgrades that became a bit of an upstairs project. Their work is exceptional every time and we know we will continue to work with their team in the future. Highly recommend!

I am an elderly, disabled, and low income home owner who has been taken advantage of by this…read morecompany. I hired Imperial Remodels to build a single-car garage on my property, replacing an existing concrete pad. The project was contracted to start on March 1, 2024, and finish by April 1, 2024, for $21,000. I paid a $10,000 cash deposit on March 13, 2024, but the contractor did not provide a receipt for the cash deposit. After signing the contract and accepting my deposit, the contractor told me someone would begin removing the concrete pad within about a week. Shortly after, someone arrived with an excavator, destroyed, and removed the concrete pad. They left behind an uneven dirt surface, which has created a serious safety hazard for me. Due to mobility issues, I now struggle to safely get in and out of my car. Despite repeated attempts to contact the contractor to discuss next steps and complete the work, he has ignored all my calls and messages. On one occasion, he agreed to visit my property to discuss the project but canceled the meeting and never followed up. My daughter attempted to help me by posting a review on their business page to warn others. In response, the business owner finally reached out, acknowledged their wrongdoing, and agreed to reimburse me the full deposit plus interest. However, they got Yelp to remove my daughter's post and are unreachable again. They have still not provided any reimbursement for the lost money or the destruction of my property. I was primarily in contact with Mike Isak (206-909-8125), but his colleague, Karina Momotyuk, was also involved. Another phone number associated with them is (253-409-6956). As a result, I am out my $10,000 deposit, unable to safely park my car, and left with no resolution. He has abandoned this job, caused destruction of my property, and has a complete lack of remorse or professionalism--particularly in taking advantage of someone in my position. Do not do work with this company as they pray on people.

The contract included a clause stating "all claims and disputes between the parties arising out of or related to this Agreement shall be resolved by binding arbitration" which I didn't feel comfortable with. I suggested removing that clause, and Scott insisted on it remaining in the contract as written. I accepted and asked Scott if he would like me to sign electronically or on paper. At that point I didn't hear from him for one week despite multiple emails and phone calls. After a week, he emailed me saying the negotiation (despite my accepting the original contract in the end) was a "big red flag from me and I don't think we can do the job for you." Overall I found this interaction to be incredibly unprofessional, especially since we had been in communication for multiple months and intended to start contraction in just a few weeks.

I am compelled to post a review to provide additional perspective from a former client with longer-term perspective. In short, we would partner with Plum Projects again. Demo started weeks before the pandemic shutdown and the entire build process was affected. Plum worked diligently and transparently to within their ability and ultimately delivered on the home we envisioned through their designers. The principals, Drew and Tyler, along with PM Amy were honest and fair and their high expectations was top-down. A project of this complexity (and number of subcontractors) is not without challenges but we never questioned their integrity or felt they acted in any other than in our best interests. Ultimately, we found in Plum a mutual and complementary aesthetic, attention to detail and appreciation of craftmanship. This value proposition is apparently not for everyone, but for us produced a beautiful home we fully enjoy.

Engaged with Plum recently, working directly with Plum owners. This quickly turned into a…read moredevastatingly costly nightmare. During my recovery, I met several families that these same Plum owners subjected to similar abuse. I also found King County Superior Court Civil Case 23-2-02955-1 SEA, a King County tax warrant against Plum for nearly $1M. Apparently it was one small step for Plum, from defrauding the tax authority, to defrauding clients to get out of their tax hole. I also learned that they left similar destruction in their wake in Sonoma county - so watch out for them in LA county during rebuilding. Their sales pitch was convincing, but their conduct was aggressively deceptive. You know the true nature of people by their efforts to obscure their worst behavior. Incompetence is one thing. Persistent and aggressive cover-up of their offenses is proof that they know their offenses and commit them with intent. Plum did this uniformly, all the while spinning their "narrative". The Plum narrative is little more than their fiction to obscure their unethical and illegal offenses. It is full of projection, like projecting their lack of discipline onto me. It is full of tropes like a client that has desires they can't afford. It is full of hallucinations of their artificial integrity. It is full of fictitious "credits". With each red flag of incompetence and fraud, I removed work from my plans and Plum's scope, to minimize their opportunities for failure, fraud and extortion. When they had to acknowledge bad work, they would concede "credits" somehow followed closely by new unplanned costs, 10-20 times those recent credits, which they would then extort aggressively - even before attempting repairs. I was terrified of any new Plum "credit". The Plum version of owning their mistakes and applying "credits" amounted to one of them showing me a dollar bill, while the other tried to take $20 from my back pocket. That was about the only coordination that they did well on my project. Most telling, their hallucinations are full of claims that homeowner "advocates" undermined Plum's efforts and integrity. Such ridiculous Plum artificial-integrity hallucinations. A good builder is an advocate, both for the owner and for the project. Plum owners however are advocates for Plum owners, only, and they simply took what they could not earn through skill and discipline, and left a mess and debts in their wake. And all of their behaviors confirmed that this was their approach from the start. Plum owners could have tried to become skilled builders, instead they became skilled fraudsters and "narrative" spinners. They proved too incompetent to remodel my house, and too dishonest to be trusted with my home and my finances. It will take years for me and my house to recover.

We are going to spend a lot of money, and wanted to make sure that the money we were going to spend was going to the right people. We asked the same 12 questions to the other contractor and they got back to us within a few days. I do not feel the questions were out of line, but apparaently they did not want to answer them. Look we are getting into a large project. Full kitchen and two bathrooms with a 1800 sq ft home getting its hardwoods completely restained and sanded. We got an email saying that they had been out of town, after a week of not hearing from them. After that never heard from them again. Still, have never heard from them. The first thing Tom told me when he came over for the first day of work was: "How did you find…read morethese guys? They can't find new customers and all their existing customers aged out/died". We probably should have ran at this point. We had a quote from Johnson Brothers Construction to rebuild our shower that had a leaking drain. Their quote was very competitive ($10k + tax) and they seemed knowledgable enough, so we went with them, aware that things might go over the quoted amount given that every projects has unknown. We did have some unforeseen things happen, requiring an extra day of labor to strengthen the floor and some weirdness about the existing drain setup that was taken care of by a plumber in an hour. Yet, here we are, two months later with a total bill that is well over twice the quoted amount, a tiling job that is sub-par and a lot of finishing touches are still missing. When you hire a general contractor, you expect them to guarantee some level of quality and to advocate on your behalf with subcontractors. In our case, the tiling subcontractor not only did a horrible job, but also tried to increase the cost for some work we already sign-off on and way over ordered one of the types of tiles (that we had to pay for). In the end the subcontractor fixed as much as they could short of redoing the whole floor, but we were the one fighting for it and inspecting the work. JBC just stood by. JBC also had two subcontractor give us quote for some drywall for a transition strip. Their interfacing between these subcontractors is essentially a series of screenshots of iMessage conversations they have with those subs. I made it clear to the drywall sub that I wanted quotes for the different parts of the job. He gives us one opaque quote with possibly an extra $100 (??). The transition strip sub, what we hear is that he'll come by by the end of next week. Saturday comes and he is no where to be found. JBC gave no updates along the way. I could also talk about their opaque billing practices, how they're charging for labor hours that don't seem to line up with what I can see on my front door camera. Or how they have 3 guys show up for the same amount of time and yet one of them is charging for an extra half hour? Honestly I could go on and on. We definitely regret going with JBC for our job. I should have heeded my gut feeling when Tom said what he did. You definitely should.
