It has everything. Clothes, fridges, celeriac, bin bags, spectacles, dentist, bank, bakery, fishmongers, coffee place, toys, booze, frozen food, petrol, Gaviscon.... The list goes on, almost endlessly. And it's open 24 hours. Staff are usually really helpful and always manage to point me in the right direction for whatever weird little item I've come in for. I realise it's Tesco, but for what it does it does it incredibly well. No wonder this brand is taking over the UK, street corner by street corner.

I have to applaud the staff of this place for putting up with the crazy clientele they must encounter, as a 24 hour garage, with everyone from steamers to stoners pestering them for munchies in the early hours of the morning. By day, it's a pretty decent little service station, serving fuel and fags, milk and magazines, as well as a whole range of overpriced groceries. There's also a Wild Bean Cafe in here, serving surprisingly good coffee as well as a tasty selection of muffins and pastries to refuel your belly whilst you refuel your motor.

I called in here to buy fuel yesterday for the first time. I think it's somewhere I shall use…read morefairly frequently from now on because it's very handy for me, being right next to Tesco, and not far from where I live. Because it's not in the middle of town, it's not very busy I've passed it many times and there are never long queues. There's a car wash to one side which I'll try sometime as well. The lady who served me inside the little shop yesterday was very friendly. You can also buy confectionery and newspapers here to save going into Tesco.

The shop is massive and has a large deli-france in it which does the most wonderful pastries, baguettes and muffins. These are not at all cheap but they are fresh unlike normal garage food. The muffins start from £1.39 and the sandwiches from £2.49. The staff are friendly and helpful and they keep a good range of items not just the obligatory coca-cola and irn-bru for soft drinks. They also stock barbecue coals, wood (for wood burners) and some coal.

There aren't many facilities here other than the ticket office and a self service kiosk. Toilets are available free of charge inside the station but still look as if they are from the 1960's be advised that they vary opening times but usually open at 8am. The station is clean and tidy with a seating area inside whilst you wait for your train. Plenty of places to go if you are stuck here for a while. There is a news agents around the corner handy for juice and the daily papers.
