This well-established veterinary practice (originally known locally as 'Stevens the Vets') has been…read morearound for nearly a hundred years. The large, gracious building stands on the Garston/Portway Corner and is easily accissible both on foot and by car. There is a large private car park at the rear of the house so no problems with transporting your furry friend from car to door. The practice has a large small-pets service and runs daily clinics (ring to check for opening times and morning/evening clinic sessions). They perform in-house surgery and dentistry and hospitalisation wards, and you can even arrange to visit your pet whilst it recovers. They also promise 24 hour care, and there is always sometone to ask for advice. I have used their service in the past to enquire about a minor problem with one of my pets and they were very helpful and sympathetic and professional. They will always prefer you to bring the animal in, of course, as it's a lot harder to diagnose an animal over the phone than a human! This being a rural, agricultural area, they also have a large Farm Animal practise based out of Frome. Plus they are often mentioned treating the more exotic animals at nearby Longleat. The practice also has branches at Warminster, Trowbridge, and a specialist Equine practice at Bradford on Avon. I found them to be very efficient, competent and helpful when my own domestic furry friends have occasionally been unwell, and this is a very substantial and valuable service for the community.

Most highly recommended. Very friendly, informative and absolutely brilliant! I love their clear…read morepricing policy. They have restored my faith in the profession, after some distressing experiences with other greedy vets in Bath.

A previous reviewer mentions their clear pricing policy (sounds like an ad) - what pricing policy?…read more Ask for a quote the price depends on whomever you're speaking to and you get told nothing if you don't ask. Nor do you get an itemised bill unless you ask. . When I took my dog for an eye infection They put in a green drop to enable any damage to show up. I was charged £36+ I was prescribed drops and told to come back two days later as the prescribed drops could actually ulcerate the eye. Another green drop and another consultation fee charge £31+ this time which included £3.09 for the green drop! and another £3.09 for the first green drop which they didn't mention just charged it. I was charged a second consultation fee and drop fee for the privilege of having it checked that their drug wasn't further damaging the eye. When I went there to ask about the cost having spoken to a lot of people who were as surprised as I was about the second charge I was told to 'write in'. When I did I got no reply to my perfectly polite email until I chased then I eventually received a rude and deeply patronising letter via post from Phillipa Ashman inferring i couldn't afford to pay them and obliquely telling me to take my business elsewhere. Believe me in my opinion this practice is ALL about the money.
