We had their last time slot of the day and it was a full class. Before the class started we were able to explore the shop a bit and there were so many candles and accessories. It's so cute inside! Our instructor Mossi was amazing and very knowledgeable about the different types of scents and combinations. It was so much fun figuring out which scents I resonated the most with. We also got to smell everyone's scent combinations which was cool knowing that scents smell different to every person. After the class, we got a small discount on any additional items we wanted to purchase that day. I got this really cool dirty martini candle and a wick dipper. Heads up that candle pick up is the next day so the wax can settle. They will hold your candles for two weeks but after that they will burn them in the store. During the workshop, the store ran out of one of the scents my friend wanted to use. We made it work and found a substitute but the during pickup we found a note, a slip for another workshop and a small candle to make up for the inconvenience. That was so nice of them! As for my candle, I don't think I can recreate it anywhere else. It's only been two weeks and I've already burned through most of one of them because it smells so good. The scents actually last and linger in any space you put them in. I 100% recommend this place whether you want to try a workshop, give this experience as a gift or just stop by to smell the candles. Heads up it's BYOB. You don't have to drink but you're able to bring something if you want.

There's a whole wall of different candle scents and there's an awesome list of scents that pair well together if you don't know where to start. I went with a more "clean bathroom" scent and found 3 scents that were suggested on their list. I love the smell of my candle!! Once you've chosen your scents, chosen your vessel, stirred everything in your vessel for 5-7 mins, and labeled it yours, you have to wait 2.5-3 hours for the wax to set. This called for a perfect day-trip walking around the shops in Portsmouth and we also had time grabbed a bite before picking up our candles and heading home. Also - they've got a cute gift shop area featuring local artists and businesses in the area. The 4 of us all had different approaches to our scents and were all obsessed. I'm definitely gonna come back when I'm due for a new Christmas candle!!

The party of 9 still had yet to arrive, and I wouldn't be surprised if they never showed. Since no credit card or deposit is needed to hold your seat, there is really no committment, so I'm sure it happens alot. They laughed along with our chaos that 8 ladies bring, and I 10/10 recommend heading over to Rockport Candle Co when you're in town, and DEF recommend booking a private event with them!!!

Once we found our perfect blends, we poured our candles and made diffusers which was so much fun. Fiona made the whole process feel personal and stress-free. I like to smell my candles before I buy them (and then buy them online when there are wicked good…read moredeals [or coupon codes available], which often there are), and came to Yankee Candle to do some "research". There is SO MUCH PRODUCT here. Candles, wax melts, sprays - every single size and smell imaginable. You forget what all of that looks like in real life when you do your retail therapy digitally! I like Yankee Candle, their product is usually five stars (shout-out to their scent plug-ins; they make my super old bathroom smell not funky). But I wanted to write a quick thank you note to one of their employees. I actually bought a candle in person and thought I liked it so much, I bought it again online. When I opened the jar to light it, my pet immediately started sneezing (this isn't the first time this has happened with their product). The candle I bought in person, I stupidly threw away the receipt for. The candle I bought online I was able to start the return process; I was told I would get a QR code via email and all I had to do was show it in person. Only, no QR code/return email ever came (despite MANY attempts at getting one). I decided to just go in person to the mall and explain all of this to them (I've never returned candles before, so I knew there was a good chance I would just have to take the "L"). Luckily for me, my email is registered so all of my (many) purchases are documented. No receipt? No problem. Not burned or used? No problem. The patient employee was able to look up my orders; and, I was able to swap out the candles out for ones that I wanted. It was a lot more seamless than I was expecting (also, despite buying the original large candles at a deep discount, somehow my return yielded more money back than I had spent, so I was also able to snag some wax melts and still have $7 leftover. Not sure how any of that worked, but I'm not complaining). So, thanks Nice Yankee Candle Person At The Mall! My flat smells good and my pet isn't sneezing!
