My sister went up to an employee to ask if someone could help us check out and when the worker that she had asked started invading her personal bubble, making her extremely uncomfortable telling her to pick 3 more items because there was a buy 3 get 3 free deal. My sister clearly stated that she just wanted the 3 in her hands for the buy 2 get 1 free deal. He insisted, making my sister so uncomfortable to the point that she was afraid to tell me that she didn't want to buy anymore. She ended up spending about $30 more than she intended to. As she is 14 and had to work very hard for that money she was devastated that she had wasted so much money on things she did not want. This isn't even the worse part! As my sister picked out more items I heard this employee BOASTING about how he is able to get people to pay for more than they want to. This isn't marketing, this is taking advantage of a young child who has problems with confrontation. This was blatant and direct. Absolutely unacceptable.

She was literally so rude to me that I walked out and didn't even purchase them. It wasn't worth it. So surprised that an organization that sells happy things like candles would employ somebody with such bad people skills. The CEO recently put out an article about changing strategies because sales are down...maybe it's just something as simple as providing better customer service. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. My sister and I visited the store to check how many reward points I had accumulated from my purchases. A manager named Alex came to assist us and explained that the points were not showing in the system and that we would need to contact customer service. That part was completely fine. However, English is not my first language Portuguese is and while I do speak English, sometimes I need a little help understanding certain details. My sister was simply trying to help translate and make sure we fully understood the situation. At that point, Alex became rude and said to my sister, "Is your sister understanding? Because she is back and forth to the same topic?" in a very dismissive tone. I had to explain that she was only trying to help me understand. As a loyal Diamond member who consistently spends money at this store, I expect to be treated with respect especially when there is a language barrier involved. The issue with the points was understandable, but the way we were spoken to was not. I hope Ulta takes situations like this seriously, because customer service and respect should apply to everyone.
