My entire family of four has seen Dr. Scott Bateman from the time when he was located in the Malibu Country Mart to now with UCLA. He always treated us respectfully and never once spoke over any of us, unlike another reviewer, including when I encouraged my children (boy and a girl) starting at age 12 to speak for themselves to Dr. Bateman. By the time they were 16, they met with him privately, and neither of them (I was told by other parents) needed assertiveness training. They loved Dr. Bateman, said he listened to them, asked them questions, and made them feel well taken care of. To give you an idea of what an excellent family physician he is at my annual physical a month ago, Dr. Bateman reviewed every medication with me that I was using, addressing any of my concerns then. He also asked if I had any new medical concerns, and he patiently listened to every one, then discussed options and whether a referral was needed or it was treatable in his office. I never feel rushed in his office. Dr. Bateman over the years has demonstrated himself to be time and again a caring, patient, thoughtful family physician. There has been a substantive change of office staff for the better from a few years ago. The staff are all caring, professional, and sterling in their performance from a few years ago. With the UCLA online patient website, it's now fast and easy to self-schedule appointments with Dr. Bateman. I still call from time to time, and the phone system has improved tremendously from a few years ago, with rarely a dropped call.
