Lovely wines and nice lunch menu. Large restaurant with bay views. It's a good stop of lunch on a day of wine tasting on the island

Incredible panoramic views and you can even see the ocean. I heard that the high tea experience is great. We just did the wine tasting which was very nice and relaxing. We rented our car from Waiheke Motors and picked it up right at the ferry terminal. I'd recommend doing this over the tour buses and public buses because you are in control of your own time schedule. Also it is way better than biking because you will be covered in dust and it was so hot walking around in the summer time. Only regret was not staying on the island in a hotel for 2 days. We had to cram in 6 wineries into one day - they were all great! If you only have one day then try to hop on the 8am ferry from Auckland because the ferry lines get packed after 9am. Here was our schedule: Man O' War - Wine Tasting Passage Rock - Wine Tasting and Pizza Lunch Casita Miro - Wine Tasting Stoney Ridge - Wine Tasting/Nap on the lawn Batch - Wine Tasting Mudbrick - Sunset Dinner

This winery will move you. Imagine walking into an wine oasis where the views will blow you away and the wine food hospitality will touch your heart. I elected to sit outside - you will be encapsulated with your first steps outdoors. The view is across the Hauraki gulf and you can see the body of water towards Auckland skyline. The oysters were naturally buttery full of flavor and the rack of lambs was exquisite. I really loved the yellow colored beets and breading. The wine is a red and white lovers paradise. The creator is one of only few recognized sommeliers in the world. Go visit and share me your experience at @iamgaryx

This a great place to hang out, take in the 180 deg views, have a glass of wine, eat a bit of food and chat. There was plenty of seating both inside and out but being a nice day it was all exposed to the outdoors. As we were going to be eating later, I just ordered some twice cooked chips to refresh the oils in my mouth between wine tastes. It turned out to be pretty good. Crispy outer, soft inner. The wines were decent but none of them moved me to purchase a bottle. My friend liked the wines more than I did though. I would hit this place if you're looking for a bit of a respite in the middle of the day.

Signed up for a wine tour, this was our 2nd stop of the day. Loved the wine and food pairing! They did a fantastic job. We got to try 3 different wines paired with oysters, cheese and nuts. The view from this estate was breathtaking as well.

This amazing jewel sits at the highest point on Waiheke Island. I was there with a tour and I recommend everyone stop and appreciate this gem.

Amazing and one of the best views from the island. The kitchen was closed when we arrived, however we could have purchased tapas. We decided to enjoy a wine flight and walk around the property. Staff was friendly and knowledgable. Out the wines, Shiraz was our favorite.

Sensational. We were there for lunch on a Saturday. Other than a large party, and an older couple, we were the only ones there. Surprising, given the calibre of the food and vistas. I had the roast vegetable salad. We also ordered the chicken salad and the kids meal. Everything was beautiful on the plate and so flavourful. Easily the best food I've eaten in recent memory. We've frequented Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Red Crab, Delight, Wai Kitchen, Solar and Cove on this visit to the island. Batch is my first check-in and only "must do" - so far.

Tantalus Estate - Waiheke Island…read more Tantalus Winery is located on beautiful Waiheke Island, an easy and very pleasant 40-minute ferry ride from Auckland. Once on the island, you can hop on a hop-on/hop-off bus or take a local bus--both make getting around simple and stress-free. The estate itself is stunning. There's a winery, a restaurant, and a brewery, and we chose to sit outside to fully enjoy the vineyard views. The setting is peaceful, lush, and absolutely gorgeous--one of those places where you instantly want to slow down and take it all in. The food was excellent. I tried green-lipped mussels for the first time--smoked and marinated--and they were delicious. Even better, they were served without shells, which made them incredibly easy to eat. The kingfish appetizer was a standout: fresh, beautifully prepared, with a dollop of avocado and a coconut-style aioli that was truly special. A real "wow" dish. We also did a wine flight, which made the experience fun especially given the range of wines available. The only downside was the music--it was blaring a bit too loud. In such a serene, Zen-like environment, it competed with the natural beauty rather than enhancing it. This is a place where you just want to sit, sip, and absorb the surroundings. That said, Tantalus is absolutely worth the trip. Incredible setting, memorable food, and a wonderful way to experience Waiheke Island.

All you need to know about the wine is that it was worth that effort. The winery is situated in a hollow (American for small valley) and housed in a Quonset hut. We enjoyed our tasting on a shaded outdoor patio. Our hosts were friendly, which in New Zealand is basically assumed. Obsidian is perhaps the most remote of the Onetangi wineries, which made it the perfect place to start our day. We spent the rest of the day working our way back toward the main road - stopping at Casita Miro and Te Motu - before catching the bus back on Onetangi Rd. back to Oneroa and the ferry.

I cook with olive oil almost every day, so I was most excited about learning how it's made and watching it happen right in front of me. Everyone here was so knowledgable and helpful, and I learned lots of great tips for what to look for in a good olive oil. After watching the production process, we were able to try several varieties of Rangihoua olive oil with bread, and it was interesting to make tasting notes (similar to how you make them for wine.) We ended up taking a few bottles back to the US, as well as this amazing herb spread they created. We found out after we purchased that they ship to the US for free, which would have been a lot easier than trying to get it back ourselves, but it was worth it. After we spent time inside learning about the oils, we were able to wander the grounds which was an absolutely beautiful experience. We saw olives growing everywhere, and the nature was jaw-dropping (though we were in New Zealand, so...) We saw ponds, ducks, and hundreds of flowers. I truly could have spent the day there! I love love love Poderi Crisci…read more Situated on Waiheke Island, about a 25 minute drive from Kennedy Point Wharf, you will find Poderi Crisci, a vineyard and Italian restaurant owned and run by Antonio Crisci and his family. Surrounded by rolling hills and immaculate gardens, together with a stunning setting including an Italian style kitchen, displays of Italian cheeses and cured meats, and copper pots and utensils, you will feel like you are in Tuscany. I dined here for my birthday with my family and it was a very memorable meal... and day overall. Everything was exquisite - from the surrounds and views, to the alfresco dining and beautiful food and wine. The service is also very welcoming, professional and friendly. For starters, we enjoyed a glass of prosecco, accompanied by three platters, all of which were beautifully presented and each dish was savoured: - Pane & Olio (selection of homemade grissini, Italian inspired bread and olives with Poderi Crisci olive oil) - Contorni (selection of Antipasti style side dishes, including free range egg frittata, braised capsicums with smoked olives, chargrilled eggplant and garden zucchinis) - Affetato (traditional Italian selection of cured meats, Mozzarella cheese, olives, grissini and truffle paste) For the main course, I loved their Gnocchi alla Norma - Homemade potato gnocchi with buffalo mozzarella, garden eggplant, cherry tomatoes and basil. It was dreamy and melt in your mouth. My parents also enjoyed their mains, which included the Agnello - Hawke's Bay lamb rump served with potato and sage, zucchini, garlic sauce and jus and the Salmone Marinato - Home-marinated King Salmon served with almond and rocket pesto, mustard dressing and garden herb salad. And of course, dessert. You simply cannot dine at an Italian restaurant without ordering tiramisu. I think Poderi Crisci makes the most superb Tiramisu in all of the land - think Savoiardi sponge fingers with espresso and Italian liqueur, layered with mascarpone sabayon and dusted with rich dark cocoa powder. Dreamy...! And the best part? It arrived at our table with a lit candle, while all the staff sang 'Happy Birthday'. The Tiramisu was divine and it made for a very memorable lunch and birthday. Food aside, service was excellent - the waiters were attentive, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. I would happily re-visit Poderi Crisci in a heartbeat... and I think you should too! Note: If you can't get over to Waiheke, head to Non Solo Pizza (NSP) in Parnell as it shares the same owners as Poderi Crisci. Their food is heaven.
