My wife went in there on our first day in Stresa, after asking in the Tourist Office on the waterfront if any local stores sold luggage. (One of our large suitcases had lost a wheel and half its handle on the trip over from the USA.) Valentina, one of the owners and fluent in English, was so gracious and accommodating in showing my wife various pieces, then offering to bring in a Samsonite suitcase from their other store for her purchase the next morning. I don't know how Valentina could have been any more delightful to deal with, despite her protracted hassle getting "the system" to electronically accept our passport info so we could claim a refund on the VAT at the Milan airport. That was on our second day in Stresa. On our third and last day in Stresa, a Sunday, we were on the Lake Maggiore Express from morning through early evening. My wife kept commenting that she wished she had bought a very distinctive handbag in Casamonti that would be an instant and useful remembrance of our vacation in Italy, but she feared she had missed the opportunity. As soon as the ferry from Locarno docked at 19:10, my wife raced over to Casamonti because Valentina had told her on Saturday the store would open until 19:00 that Sunday. Valentina and her mother had almost shut the store, yet they welcomed her in just like an old friend and took the time to show her several purses. My wife was so thrilled to have another purchase from Casamonti. Although I don't think we will have the opportunity to return to Stresa, if we do, I suspect my wife will make a beeline to Casamonti!

But also other items were well priced. But bring some time and patience, since the shop is mostly pretty packed and selection is plenty. Came back this year, focused mostly on the men's section. Also good priced shirts and sportswear. Also a good selection of beachwear (including shoes) for little money. It's a big store on two levels. And it's worth to spend an hour or two browsing around here. Pretty sure you won't go home empty handed. Compared to other low priced chains Primark has convinced us with low prices for reasonable quality. Will come back.

Congratulations because you found the spot. My wife and I stopped by and we were treated so well by the multi-generation family owners. Not only do they treat you like old friends but they've been hand-making the very shoes you're trying on and purchasing for generations. How often can you say that? We bought a pair and decided to wear them to dinner later that evening. During our walk home that evening we kept raving how comfortable the form-fitting the shoes were. First time wearing them and we experienced ZERO discomfort. In fact, we felt our feet getting more and more comfortable with each step! We loved them so much we found ourselves back at the shop the following day purchasing even more shoes! I was worried it was too expensive so discouraged myself and kept walking. The shops finished and I ended up turning back and slowed down as I approached the shop again. I stopped and gawked at it for what felt like forever.. finally I took the plunge and in I went. The man at the counter was very accommodating and helpful, explaining when it was made and where (70's Napoli), and how to claim duty free at the airport for it- all in English and so polite! From memory it was 700 euros but.. I got it! I've never gone one day without wearing it- it's like my best friend! They had soooo many wonderfully unique pieces in there, I long for the day I can go back and find another amazing gem.

A small glass dish in the window display caught my eye as I was headed to the return ferry. I…read morequickly popped into this small, very busy shop. Every nook and cranny contains something. Good quality pens, original oil paintings, jewelry, glassware, on and on. You could spend a great deal of time in here looking at everything. The woman behind the counter asked if she could help me and I told her I was interested in the glass plate. She went directly to the display in the shop and brought a large selection to the counter for me to select from. (This conversation was conducted in Italian but she did understand English) They came in several colors and a couple of different styles. I made my selection, she wrapped it in bubble wrap, I paid and was out the door in plenty of time to get to the ferry! I spied a very cute pair of earrings by the register and wished I had time to check them out further. Probably good I was in a hurry. We will be back to Bellagio in the Spring and I am definitely including a stop at this shop on my agenda.
