She really made us feel uncomfortable so we backed away and then she stood in front of the little doorway, so it was clear to us that we weren't allowed to enter. No smile, no hello. It seems very coincidental that these hidden reviewers had the exact same bad experience that I did when trying to go to the store and the only reviews that easily appear are the good ones. My family and I arrived at 2:50pm on a Wednesday afternoon via taxi, specifically aiming to buy authentic Italian leather bags to bring back home. When we got there however, the bags were out on display, but the entrance was blocked with two chairs and a cardboard tube. The woman inside was on the phone and very abrasive, shooing us away and claiming that she was not open until 3. From what I could see, it's a little hole in the wall with only a handful of unfashionable (and not vey soft looking) boring leather pieces. I echo the sentiment that it was not worth the trek.

Everything is just lovely and it's easy to tell that it is all very well crafted and detailed, they take pride in their work. Speaking with shop owner I asked him if he made the bags and he said yes and showed me the workshop. Not only does he make all the hand bags, but the workshop is right behind the shop, so cute. I don't see that at home in NYC. He was very friendly, very helpful and a pleasure to meet. I only wish I bought more.

Though I purchased my beautiful pair of San Lorenzo loafers in the USA, I stopped by this store, after having spent a tortorous week navigating the cobblestone streets of Rome, to see if they could touch up my shoes....after dropping my shoes off in the morning I returned to pick them up that afternoon and Berluti did such a good job treating my loafers they looked as though they were brand new. I insisted on paying and/or giving a tip for services rendered, but GianLuca absolutely refused to accept any money. Talk about customer service and making me a loyal customer going forward. When I do return to Italy and am in the market for a new pair of high end and eye catching shoes, it is good to know that shoes can be bought in Italy at a 20-25% discount to US prices and that is before the 12% VAT discount at the airport applies. If you are in the market for shoes, clothing, wallet, briefcase that will set you apart from everybody else, Berluti is your store to come to. Bellisimo.

Visiting Milan seemed like the perfect time to purchase a pair of Italian leather driving gloves directly from the country they're made, so I headed to the main luxury shopping district with a credit card and sense of sheer determination. The Sermoneta shop is small yet inviting, with pleasant enough salesclerks working behind the counter. They'll size you up based on looking at your hands and will pull out a huge basket of every glove option in stock that will fit. Don't expect any literal hand holding here, these ladies were European cool and no-nonsense. You're welcome to try on as many gloves as you wish, and I recommend you do so to find the ones that look and fit the best. Also watch out for popped stitching before you buy as these are handcrafted items. The gloves here are absolutely beautiful, the leather buttery soft and the colors vibrant. I wanted a pair of fingerless gloves for those hot Las Vegas summer days but I also fell in love with a full-fingered pair of two-toned purple and cream gloves so I had to get those too. You can go as simple or as fancy as you wish, think anything from basic snaps, extravagant bows, sparkling rhinestones, or simple pull-on styles. I wanted beauty with functionality so I passed on the froufrou accoutrements and kept it conservative. These aren't cheap gloves by any means (expect to spend $75 - $200U.S. per pair), but my two pairs are super high quality, are gorgeous, and it's fun to tell the story when I wear my Italian driving gloves that I purchased in Milan whenever I get behind the wheel of my new Porsche.

The perception of me being boujie is I love certain designer things. I wanted a Goyard bag because I was sick of my neverfull, everyone has it. Little did I know these girls all thought the same in line... HAHA!! If you know Goyard, it is one of the brands that make themselves very exclusive. You can only purchase them in store, they will not ship, nor will you know their price until you physically go in a brick and mortar. They have locations in the US, none in Hawaii. You are also limited to only buy 4 a year! The staff and service was amazing. The staff came by the line to hand out green umbrella and asked which item we had in mind to check stock. This why you aren't wasting your time if you wanted a specific item. I ended up waiting for 1 hr with my portable fan, I never travel without this, it's a life saver in humid conditions. When I got in the store, it was tiny fits 8-10 customers plus 8 workers. My sales associate told me today the line is a little shorter sometimes people wait 2hrs minimum. WHAT!!!! 1hr was bad already but 2hrs! At first I wanted a cross body and I really was set on the An jou mini tote. Asked the sales associate about white Belvedere and cap-vert. They only had red and blue in cap-vert, I tried on the red and my assigned sales associate he was so honest, he said girl that does not match you. Don't waste your money on that color or the style. Now that I LOVE you for being so honest and not just telling me to buy it. America would never do this, most lie to get you to just buy. More reasons to love Italians. I was set on white and he told me the mini an jou is very popular, it's a true reversible tote. Inside was black leather and the outside was the Goyard canvas design. They didn't have white but they had black/brown, blue, green and red. Firstly he said red is not my color, green and blue are the popular colors right now but black/brown is easier to pair with everyday. I went with the classic color black/brown mini Anjou and got a little painted blue heart Goyard to look different. They do custom graffiti art on the bags, cost depends on the size. I also got the conti pouch in white because I was set on getting a white Goyard too. He said the conti pouch is a great pouch, bigger than most pouches. In my mind I was planning on making this bag a cross body! Lol 2 in one! Honest question, would I do this again? HELL NO! Did I get what I wanted? Yes. Do I regret it? Oh absolutely! I have been home for a few months and I lean more towards the conti pouch, the insert in place making a cross body was more of a go to when I go out for errands. It was more practical as a going out bag. I love my mini Anjou but it's more like a work/brunch/ girls date bag since it has no zipper. The insert helps hold my stuff in place. It does go over the shoulder. I do end up picking my bigger totes for work. If you want a Goyard, stand in line and get it! I had a good experience here. Milan is the shopping capital, a boujie girl heaven.

Michael Mendoza, my SA, was a standout: thoughtful, honest, and seriously knowledgeable. Despite following the brand for nearly a decade, I still learned a few things from him--like finding the production date or using the hidden NFC tag. When I couldn't grab the item same day, he offered to let me buy now and pick up tomorrow or reserve it until tomorrow, and even shared his WhatsApp to help me pre & post purchase. He also gave me a heads up about the start of Milan Design Week chaos, and just to be prepared for crowds, extra pickpockets, and buffer time, as I had a tight itinerary through the rest of my Milan trip. TL;DR: Great experience, great guy, greater VAT.
