Okay so this place has a great vibe. The outdoor seating area is absolutely worth a stop here…read more The place is more upscale so expect to pay a little more to eat here. The service was some of the best I've had in Mexico. The bathrooms are great. The portions are huge. I ordered the enchiladas (house favorite) and my friend got the shrimp quesadillas. The food was just okay. The enchiladas were interesting with the chicken on the side as opposed to inside. The sauce wasn't my favorite either. Perhaps, I would have fared better ordering something else. The quesadillas were full of a lot of shrimp but they were simply a 4 tortillas filled with cheese and shrimp so very basic. I will say, I really did enjoy everything else and would recommend people trying this place and they do have a lot of options. I kinda wish I tried one of the salads, they sounded delicious.

Cute, family owned spot in a cute balcony of a hotel with great ambiance and great service. I was…read morehaving stomach issues my whole time in San Miguel so I didn't get to order anything as fun as I'd have liked, but pancakes seemed ok (bland, carby foods are good when you're sick) and they were tasty and didn't exacerbate the problem. My mom's huevos rancheros breakfast looked delicious and I'd love to go back one day and order up the works. The big standout for me here was the service - so friendly and pleasant to be around. Definitely a spot to check out!

There are some places that captivate you, and you find yourself WILLING them to succeed--this is…read moreone of them. I'm going to say it was our favorite place to eat in San Miguel. Staffed by three buddies who have all worked in high end restaurants (here in San Miguel as well as the US and Europe), this tiny establishment doesn't even have a sign outside (just take down the address and you'll see a sign that says "Hotel" by the door. Enter and ascend a flight of stairs and it'll be on your right. The meal begins with chips and a warm black bean dip (made with exotic ingredients they'd needed to pick up the previous day in something that sounded like a drug deal!). Next order the mushroom soup--a highlight of our 7 day trip to San Miguel. We also shared an order of guacamole (excellent as you'd expect, with thick chunky chips), and an order of Requeson (never heard of that, but turned out to be a cheese log with spicy/tangy flavor, served with hot corn tortillas). For mains, we had the torts de lingua (delicious if you're not weirded out by beef tongue), duck floutas, and the pork dish (Costilla en Abodo Oaxaqueno), which had excellent flavor but was a battle (large bone in the middle so difficult to eat). They've only been open for a few months and they have a few kinks to work out--the menu is not organized in a logical way (green salad and mushroom soup appear at the end rather than first). Meals did not all arrive together, but to be fair we were a large party (8), and ordered multiple items per person. They also need to update their Google entry, which failed to note that they're closed on Tuesdays. And as noted before, having a sign would be helpful. Remember to BYOB because they don't serve alcohol, but in the end that's yet another thing that makes this place an incredible bargain! We managed to eat VERY well for less than $16 per person. Just wish we'd discovered it sooner because we would've returned if we had time. Maybe for breakfast, which I hear is also fantastic.

Due to the holiday and the latter hour, a lot of restaurants were shutting down. Saw a recommendation on here for this place and made a call. They were closing in less than an hour but told be to bring my party in. We were immediately sat . Our server Boni attended us and made great recommendations. I'll post some pages form the menu because the choices were vast.and adventurous. If you're in town, please check it out. Right by the town square. The staff was wonderful, warm and welcoming. Great attentive service. Didn't have room for dessert and they also had a breakfast menu.

We started with complimentary fresh salsas and a savory cheesy bite. Very nice! One of the salsas had a real spicy kick, which I enjoyed. Also split and shared: - Sopa de Lima, a regional chicken and lime soup. Loved this! It was a light, brothy dish, and felt very nourishing. Delicious. Also tried adding some of the fresh salsas (as suggested). - Enchiladas Mole Negro. I'm glad I tried this one! Made me feel like I've never actually had authentic mole in my life. This was really rich, with complex flavor. Was sweet as well, and savory. - Tacos Cochinita Pibil. Yummy! Loved this with the salsas as well. Which, by the way, were refilled! A friend got the grasshopper appetizer as well which turned out to be a pretty sizeable plate full. So we all got to try that as well! Not bad not bad. Not quite what I was expecting, but I was happy to try it! (I thought they'd be salty and crunchy; actually they were softer and tasted a bit tea like. Leisurely and relaxed dining. Nice drinks too. So many agua Fresca options! I got a guava lime one.
