They have a good beer list, including some local items that I doubt we'll ever get anywhere else on earth. I had a very tasty shrimp and rocket pizza, with lots of delicious little perfectly salted shrimps (how do they peel those?), as well as a steak sandwich that was tender (I hate pulling all the meat out from between the bread on the first bite) and flavorful with good fresh veggie toppings. The wait staff in particular were always super friendly, and really helpful recommending the local beers that we couldn't possibly have tried before. It's like they could tell we weren't from nearby. The place was usually doing a business too, maybe because it's one of the later night spots, but I actually think it's just a cool place. Lots of covered outdoor seating, with trick adjustable glass windows if you need to block the wind, plus heaters if you need them. Just a nice spot.

We arrived at 7:00 (without a reservation) and didn't leave until 10:30. You know it's a find when you're in a small town on the beach and there are 15 people lined up waiting for the doors to open for dinner. The lamb was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The creme brulee was the best I've had in my life. The crust was perfectly delicate, the tiny strawberries were just the right garnish, and there were tiny anise leaves scattered over the top. Their pavlova was also an excellent example of its genre!

The menu features the kind of Chinese dishes you expect from a Chinese restaurant. Probably nothing exceptional, but I also did not miss anything. I ordered some chicken and asked for a white wine with it, and actually enjoyed the white house wine. I noticed that our lovely waitress also brought me a glass of water along with the wine - something I think should be the standard everywhere. Altogether, I had a great dinner at China Sea with very friendly service and good portions of decent food. I will definitely come back when I will be in Varberg again.

The house red wine was nice and we opt'd for one prix fixe dinner and one entree for myself and my son. The chef came out several times to either bring a dish or check on us and she was both informative and delightful. The orange juice was superb! The service was good to moderat, as they made the deserts after each order you had to pick them up yourselfs when it was ready. All in all it was decent but too expensive for what was offered.

The patty comes out as something that reminds me less of a burger and more as meatloaf. And to be clear, it's OK that Europe hasn't mastered the burger. I don't need it to. But others wanted to go here as a lunch near my client's office, so I was pleasantly surprised with the burger. Specifically - very flavorful beef, the right "density" so it didn't feel like meatloaf, a good grilled flavor, juicy without being overly greasy. Just a solid burger patty, I'd be happy with this in the US, no question. Lots of creative toppings, and nice hot crispy fries. I'm serious, this is a place I would visit with some regularity if it was near my house in Illinois. But it's in a small town on the Swedish North Sea coast. Globalization, I tell you.
