The town of Oakhurst is my favorite as it offers great amenities that are the closest to the best entrance to Yosemite in my opinion. Lets start with the food. This is one of the best culinary experiences I have had and it is consistently good. The three course or five course dining service is stellar. These chefs are some of the best in the world and Ive been all over the world. The leadership of Erica is not to be surpassed. She has an incredible calm spirit with a smiling happy crew that provides top notch service with warmth and class. The bartender Jordan is a delight with his great smile and kind eyes. The food experience made me feel like I was being nourished from the inside out not just with nutrition but with love and flavor that was new and revitalizing. This was my first stay at the Chateau Sureau. Oh my heart. I feel that I was healed and restored from a level of stress I dont think I realized I was carrying from our busy crazy noisy world at home. The property is exquisite with old world charm and the perfect patina of age that makes you feel you are in the old country of Paris or Austria or England. The landscape is stunning and it was raining so the fireplaces were roaring and the pines were glistening with silver drops backlit by an incredible sunset. The breakfast service is top notch and the staff is incredibly attentive. You know its good when you know each others names. Thanks to Lorenzo, Sienna, Logan, Jissel and Lori for incredible Chalet guest service. Then, there is the spa. I just had to go since I was feeling like my life was coming back to my ownership again. The Spa is gorgeous. The spa. director Way has been on this property for 20 years. I had the best facial and conversation with her. What a treasure she is. Kim was my massage therapist and she is one of the best I have ever had and my son at home is a therapist as well so I feel qualified to say so. I got to spend my time in the couples massage room which has stunning views, a balcony that looks out from the hot bubbling soaking tub that you get to use after your massage. I had a choice of oils to add and we went with elderberry which is incredible for soft skin. Its absolutely wonderful. The small scale in size lent itself to making connections with other guests that were fantastic and I made friends here while staying that will last! I will be back everytime I am in town. I was here on a rainy weeks end and it added to the magic. I can imagine what it is like in spring when the gorgeous grounds are covered in flowers blooming. I cant wait to see it again then or even next month for the holidays! Some may say there is some aging to the rooms but I say its perfect and if you have traveled to the Old Country in Europe this is part of the actual beauty and experience. Relish it!!

It was 9:30pm when I checked in so I planned on grabbing breakfast in the morning and then hitting the hot tub before heading back to the grind. I ate my mediocre continental breakfast, put my suit on, grabbed a towel and headed to the pool area for the moment I'd been waiting for.... The hot tub/pool was CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE. They really made everything sink together. I love soft colors and simple decor the owners have put together. The leather belt decor for the TV and hanger in the room makes it a nice touch. Such elegantly esthetic hotel. The bed is super comfortable. I got 2 queen sized beds. The room has mini frig. No microwave. The shampoo, body wash, and conditioner feels super nice and it smells good too. It's not a cheap brand. Room is very clean! Gym room is big! It has yoga mats, resistant bands, bosom ball, and more. More than what other hotel gyms usually have. The gym is clean. No swimming pool but they do have a backyard that has backyard games like a huge Connect 4 and bean bag toss games. There is even a fire pit. Lots of seats to lounge. There is always coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. Free parking. I read that they charge, but they didn't charge us. I would definitely stay there again!

This stay was booked weeks in advance as a King room for a romantic Valentine's Day weekend. Upon…read morearrival, we were informed, without prior notice, that our reservation had been changed to a double queen room. When I asked why, I was told that due to an upcoming snowstorm, PG&E staff required accommodations and were given the King rooms instead. When I asked why their needs were prioritized over a reservation that had been planned and paid for well in advance, no explanation was provided. I am 6'3" and do not sleep well in a queen bed, which is precisely why I booked a King room early and intentionally. I had selected and paid for this room type through Expedia and could show the receipt confirming it. Despite this, the staff stated that bookings made through Expedia, even when a specific room type is selected and paid for, do not guarantee that the hotel will honor that reservation. No alternatives or solutions were offered, and there was no willingness to work with us to make the situation right. As a result, I am now lying awake in a cramped bed, disappointed and wishing we had chosen a different destination altogether. It is an unfortunate and frustrating way to begin what was meant to be a special Valentine's Day getaway.

I stayed here with my dog for two nights in May 2025 (Room 54) and really hoped it would be a…read morepeaceful, pet-friendly stop near Yosemite. It wasn't. There were raccoons going through the trash right outside our room, which kept my dog barking all night. I had to move the trash myself because no one was on-site to deal with it even though they advertise 24-hour reception. That's just not okay when you're traveling with a dog who needs to feel secure. The room itself was also in bad shape and there was feces on the toilet when we arrived, the A/C didn't work, the chair was stained, and the floor felt sticky. We requested housekeeping using the door sign, but no one ever came. I had to go to the front desk to get towels myself. I tried to resolve this calmly and even followed up by email. Instead of replying, they quietly took $30 off the bill and said that's all they could do. Honestly, if you're traveling with a pet and want a clean, quiet, and safe space--this is not it.

Granted if your visiting the area chances are your not spending much time in the room but holy cannoli ... Breakfast is not breakfast. It was to -go snacks. The Lobby is a throw back to the 1980's. Rooms need a complete overhaul. Carpet was old, tv was super old and small. WiFi was terrible. Old school heater/air conditioner unit. The room did include a Small fridge, microwave and coffee machine..that was cool. Overall design and furniture was very dated. Stayed two nights and there no cleaning service..not even fresh towels. Jacuzzi was Luke warm and pool was however the kids still enjoyed it. I'm we are not a fancy schmancy family but by no means was this worth the dinero.
