We just wanted to enjoy a delightful meal on the lake. So we drove over an hour to visit Bass Haven. I think the long winding back road is inevitable no matter where you drive in from. Saturday June 27th 5:15 party of two. The gravel parking lot was full. The water was choppy. There was no wait. I ordered a ML while Jason was in the RR. I was informed that the restaurant didn't serve liquor. Sad face. Jason had the same sad face when he tried to order his own. lol We took 5 minutes to order: Jason: crab cakes $15 Me: CFS $16 All entree's are served with bean soup and unlimited salad bar The crab cakes were a little small but Jason enjoyed them . He ate everything. My CFS was so salty I couldn't even try to eat it. I flipped it over and the batter may appear burned, (it's dark!) but it is all seasoning. I boxed it up but ultimately tossed it in the garbage. Because of the hush puppies (free), and beans. And the salad bar ... I didn't leave hungry. Just disappointed. The salad bar is okay. It included salad fixings as well as potato salad and coleslaw. The restroom was 87°, but okay clean. But in the end it was too far away and didn't serve beer. We won't be back. read more

You may have to wait but it was really good. Salad bars are hard to find and this one had a good selection that was constantly being restocked. It has bean soup on it as well. My husband said it was delicious. We order the sampler appetizer and it was very good, the cheese sticks were the best! Most of us had the ribeye and it was seasoned very well. I added fried shrimp which were delicious and my son added the grilled shrimp and he really liked them. Daughter had fried fish and gumbo and ate all of it and daughter-in-law had the burger. It was very crowded, tables are close and it is very homey and basic inside but we would definitely come back. read more

Bass Haven has a beautiful lakefront location. The catfish is the best, but you just about can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Their service is welcoming and attentive. We love to have family gatherings there. read more
