The staff weren't very helpful even though I very obviously needed help with measurements, colour schemes and the like. I personally prefer Dunelm Mill but I was in the centre of town and couldn't have been bothered traveling about the place. I don't think I will go in again for anything other than a definite item as I just felt a little overwhelmed at all the stuff but the lack of help.

However, when my parents were away on holiday last year, I decided I would venture in and purchase a duvet cover set for myself, having been in dire need of one for quite some time. Undoubtedly one of the most important days in a girl's life... I was fortunate enough to be in the shop during sale time, and was even more fortunate to find a blue and white barcode striped duvet cover for half price...£10 ("how do you do it?" is a frequent question asked by my mum). That usual jubilation that suddenly overcomes me the moment I find a bargain eluded me for once. I *had* to phone my mum and dad to ensure that my find was genuine and the bargain was good enough to warrant a purchase. A five minute phonecall later, and we established that this was the case. Phew. A year later, and my blue and white striped duvet cover is still perfectly intact, currently taking pride of place on my bed. Having had such a wonderful experience, when I went back this year to a newly refurbished Spinning Wheel, I was slightly disheartened to find no duvet covers on the bottom floor, despite the fact that this was indicated on the wall. Being in a hurry, I had to go, but I will definitely pop back in for a proper look very soon. And to get lost among all those curtains. Looks like such fun...

It's not surprising that I have on more than one occasion lost my house key. Luckily not for a long time and thankfully not at my last student abode which used specially cut keys which had to be ordered at a cost of £40 each. This little place cut me a replacement key from my house mate's. Smooth and cheap. Didn't take very long and the key was a much better cut than the slightly rough edged originally I had.

Having had a run of bad luck with an electrical shower that kept blowing fuses I was told to pop…read moredown here as I could 'pick the brains' of the owner and maybe get to the root of the mystery. The shop is quite old school; every nook is crammed with various electrical goods and parts. As they had quite a large selection of electrical showers I was able to point out my model and chatted to the man behind the counter as to why mine was blowing fuses at least once a week. He surmised that we were running the shower at too high a level for the cabling to ably carry the load and that was causing the fuses to blow. After buying a new fuse mount and a few more spares I had a quick browse through the selection of kitchen appliances before heading home for a spot of DIY. The advice was good, after replace the scorched fuse mounts and running our shower on a lower heat setting to date the fuses have remained intact. Pros: Personal touch. Good advice Cons: Shop is cluttered so probably best to ask for what you want first.

I have been using Classic for about 7 years now and they are always my first port of call when the kids have ruined yet another wall of paintwork. Or crashed a skateboard into some gloss painted woodwork. Indoors. I know, I blame the parents too. So John will come out within a day or 3 to give you a quote, all the while co-ordinating another job by shouting into his blue tooth. Is prices are reasonable and cheaper than any other quotes I have had and they will usually be able to schedule you in within a week or so and can supply the materials if you want them t. Trade prices are usually better than retail prices so I go for this option unless I want them to use a very precise shade or specialist paint. Just one word of warning - they aren't the tidiest workers in the world and will paint over anything you leave in the way. So get the plenty of dust sheets and don't leave any family heirlooms in their path and you'll be fine.

I've been on the hunt for a slightly larger city centre apartment for myself and my girlfriend, currently living a fantastic building on Ormeau Avenue and it's hard to beat for the comfort, quality and more importantly the location. The Custom House apartments have always drawn my attention, after a viewing about a year ago I was overwhelmed by the level of detail and quality of the fixtures and fittings inside. The price of course is the main stumbling block. I'm in the market for a two bed, spacious and well fitted. Prices here start at around 600 for a box of a small one bed and at least 700 for a half decent sized two bed. It's still on the cards though - we'll see how work goes in the coming months. You just never know.
