A flock of high school boys stood in line forever supposedly "ordering," while apparently their real objective was flirting with the girls behind the counter. Meanwhile, the employees seemed far more interested in entertaining them than actually serving customers. The Gen Z stare I got from the employees was honestly hysterical. Unfortunately, the Marine Corps veteran in me was telling me to stay serious and observe the circus. And what made it even better? THREE girls were behind the counter, and somehow none of them seemed particularly concerned with the actual customers waiting to be served. All three had their attention locked onto this chopped-up crew of teenage boys who, I might add, smelled like they had just crawled out of a DC sewer. I'm not expecting five-star service at an ice cream shop. I'm expecting basic professionalism: acknowledge customers, take their orders, and do your job. To the owner: please find a team that understands the difference between working a shift and hanging out at a high school social event. Because tonight's performance was less "ice cream shop" and more Saturday Night Live food service stylen. First time here. Definitely memorable. Unfortunately, not because of the ice cream.

This was going so well I was really hoping they wouldn't let me down in the crunchy department, and they didn't! They have CRUSHED WAFFLE CONES. My husband had overheard the conversation and said that the man had asked if he could get more yogurt (like, free refill style), and the girl told him he'd have to pay for it. This is what upset him. Before I continue the story, how did this not make sense to him??? I think of other situations where you pay by weight; at the deli you don't pay for 5 ounces, and then get extra free ounces! After a minute, the man got back up and started speaking to the girl behind the counter again, he was speaking quietly, so I figured he was asking a different question or seeking further explanation, no big deal...until he told her to stop being so cheap and started yelling (and calling her bad names) in Spanish! I was in shock because he was a grown man, and behind the counter was a young girl, and he was cursing at her (in front of his children) over yogurt!! He stormed off with his family after that, and I was left with my jaw on the floor. I know the side story had nothing to do with the quality of the froyo or the establishment, but watching how the poor girl behind the counter handled herself in that situation, solidified that we'd be returning. Both young girls behind the counter remained calm and courteous to the man, meanwhile my eyeballs were about to pop out of my head. I can certainly say that they've hired some good staff.
