But when I got there, the lights were off, and there was a "closed" sign on the door. To make things worse, their "winter hours" were still listed, even though it's clearly not winter anymore. Their social media hasn't been updated since 2023, so I had no way of knowing that they weren't actually open. Extremely frustrating, especially after driving so far out of my way. They really need to do a better job of communicating their hours to avoid wasting people's time. On my way to YogurtLand now!

We got the ham hot melt sandwich, I asked for no chipotle mayo since I can't handle heat. My husband got the turkey sandwich cold. We ordered a side of chili and a Humphrey yogurt small. Both sandwiches were delicious, I really would love to find out where they get their bread from. The turkey sandwich had sprouts on it, which is a favorite, and one of the best turkey sandwiches we've had. The turkey had a lot of flavor. As we were eating it, we thought I don't think there's cheese on here, and there is not, which is how it's supposed to be, but you don't even miss it. The hot sandwich with the ham and Swiss and avocado was delicious, I will definitely get that again. Chili was very hearty with lots of meat. Kind of like a chili you would put on a hotdog. Humphrey yogurt was great-a good little light snack or dessert. We will definitely be coming back when we want a good clean sandwich.

After coming to Baton Rouge for the past 2…read moreyears to visit my fiancé, I decided we had to venture out of BR to find a non-chain ice cream shop. Maddie's fit the bill with its homemade ice cream and family-run ambiance. It's in an unassuming shopping center off the main toad in Brusly, LA (about a 15 min drive from BR, just over the MISSISSIPPI river), but it's an oasis in an otherwise ice cream desert. The space is super cute and inviting with paintings of various ice cream cones on the walls by young artists (they do kids birthday parties) and a chalkboard menu. They also have plenty of seating and a "Eat More Ice Cream" sign that's perfect for the 'gram. The ice cream itself is fantastic and really creamy and rich. I got coffee and cookies and cream and my partner got blueberry cheesecake and s'mores. Very reasonably priced given the generous scoops! They also have brownies, cookies, and their signature creations/sundaes. Worth the drive to this small town to get world class ice cream! We'll be back!

It's definitely a great way to try different flavors. In my social circle, we love asking each other what the flavor of the week is throughout the week and sharing our opinion on it. They also do a punch card thing for milkshakes which are usually 3 scoops of ice cream so it's thick. The employees are usually super nice. Sometimes when the original flavor of the week is not available, they will give you your flavor choice for the price of the FotW. Also, they sell meat in the fridges, I assume they're fresh as heck as a result. I haven't bought meat here but I know others do, it's probably really good :) The tiger bite is a special flavor at LSU, it's vanilla based with blueberries. It's a little sweet and the texture leftover can be a little sticky in the mouth. It's hard to explain that but it's not perfectly smooth. The oreo is my favorite, they do it right here. Only issue about it is that it's hard to scoop so the employees don't usually make it the FotW as a result so I rarely get it. The vanilla is a classic and dependable flavor. I'm not a chocolate gurl but the double chocolate has a nice rich flavor. I also liked the chocolate oreo, it definitely goes well together. The mint chocolate chip when I had it was disappointing. It lacked the chips to balance the mint flavor. People really like the peach flavor but it just doesn't taste like peaches to me, maybe a hint of it but it's not that good. I don't really like the toffee flavor, I wouldn't try it again. The strawberry cheesecake was pretty good and I prefer it more than the blueberry cheesecake flavor. I remember having it 3x in one week. To summarize: S tier: Oreo, Strawberry Cheesecake A tier: Vanilla, Chocolate Oreo B tier: Tiger Bite, Double Chocolate C tier: everything else :P

The swirl took a minute to come out, but we came at a peak right after dinner time so I'm sure they just needed to be refilled. For my toppings, I go crazy!
