I am on vacation with my family and decided to go to this nice shooting range near us. This is definitely the best shooting range I've been to. You get to load your own gun, use it in auto, and you get to hold the guns any way you want. I live in Pennsylvania and the shooting ranges there are so complicated, anyone from that area will know what I am talking about. The employees are super very helpful and kind! Also large parking space in front of the shooting range so definitely don't be worried about that. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I'm in the area. Had a horrible experience with another gun range (one with 'Target' in their name). So I went to this range right after leaving the other place. This place seem like a nice mom and pop place what offer guns, machine guns and suppressors rental. I am was able to shoot my gun and ammo (nothing wrong with them, just that the other place has some stupid rule about pre-load magazines). The staffs are very friendly. The range is nice and clean with good ventilation and air condition. It's pretty short at just 20 yds, so I couldn't practice with my rifles the way I intended. But they allow rifles up to 30-6 and pistols up to .44 magnum and shotguns. You can buy suppressor and shoot it there before it gets out of jail. I was interested in taking the CCW class and Ryan, the instructor, was very enthusiastic while explaining the details to me. Fee is $60 at the time of writing and it includes the rental firearm and ammo. The available time is very convenience on Friday and Saturday's afternoon. I am thinking about taking my CCW training there very soon. As I shoot my gun there, Ryan went into the range with a first time gun female shooter. He was very instructive, friendly and encouraging to her. I like his style of training especially for beginner. Even though I consider myself a decent shooter, I think I will learn many things from Ryan. This range is farther from my house than the other range, but out of principle, I will drive the extra miles anytime. read more

I have been to this range a lot. Shot quite a few times is nice and well lit kept up nicely. however, I recently purchased from them and the transfer fee was the highest I've ever seen by almost three times the amount. I was shocked. Needless to say I won't be buying or having anything shipped there to do the background or transfer check. read more

Since I was a single eclectic mum, I took my son everywhere when I was raising him; from the ballet to karate to futball to Jazz, Classical, Hip Hop and RnB concerts. I was the mum that pulled up to school and dropped my son off blasting Opera. I believed in him being well rounded from McDonald's to fine dining where the staff placed the napkin in your lap for you. Well today he took me to the gun range for the very first time and I had a blast. I learned gun safety and proper stance and clearing the weapon and how to use the gun. The staff was friendly and everyone in their little cubbies were shooting cool guns that I had only seen on tv. There was even an instructor teaching an older lady next to me how to shoot. The place was very clean which learned is because the patrons clean up after themselves by sweeping up their shell casings and placing them in a bucket. Even the staff swept out front to ensure everything was tidy. I am looking forward to going again to get better and maybe I will get up the nerve to buy a gun myself one day as soon as I get past how noisy they are. read more

I've been to this spot a few times. I'm new to shooting and my husband is trying to help me with becoming more familiar with hold and shooting guns. I plan on taking the new shooter's class so I can move into the carry concealed class. Since my husband is retired military he's a great teacher in helping me become more familiar. This place is awesome. Really cool people running this place, respectful, safe and well kept environment. I just moved here and have shot at this range twice, as well as had a Sig sent here from Guns.com. When I moved to the area and was calling around to see where would be a good FFL to have my Sig sent, most places I called treated me like an inconvenience. I talked to the guys here at BASICS twice before I ordered it and they were helpful, kind, and glad to help out. The level of professionalism and lack of egotistical attitudes I've not seen anywhere else in the area so far. Especially as someone who is new to training, I appreciate it. While inside the range an elderly man looked for a new piece of cardboard to hang his targets from and an employee confronted him and told him he was rude for looking under the counter. (If you've been there you know the layout.)He said, "I don't come to your house and look inside your cabinets--that would be rude. Don't you agree that you're being rude?" Then he told him his cardboard was fine. The confrontation was gross and hard to witness. The elderly man looked embarrassed. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. I'm sure the employee probably thought he was being nice which made it all the more gross, and hoped that that employee would stay away from me during my time there. I can imagine a lot of people may search for things they need under those cabinets and that employees (perhaps this very employee) have had to confront patrons about not opening the cabinets. So, here's an idea to address the problem: put a lock on the cabinet OR learn how to talk to your customers with dignity and tact. Other than this one employee, I've never had a problem with the staff. read more

I have shot here a few times. Service is always good and their policies in the main are OK. Only issue is for certain calibers you have to buy ammo from them. I go elsewhere if I want to shoot those calibers because I buy ammo in bulk so don't want to have to buy it again to practice. Other than that it's a good range. The store itself is OK but if you are looking for a huge selection there are better places to browse. They do have an online store so you can buy just about anything from them but you will have to wait for it to come in. If they had a bit better selection of guns to look at and got rid of the unnecessary ammo rule u would give the place 5 stats. As it is I think 3 is fair. read more

What a scam they have running. Buy a gun for delivery in three days and then hear nothing for a month. Definitely make calls and emails daily only to have then fail to respond and refuse to provide a refund. They took our money and failed to deliver just like an online scam!! If you file a complaint they will threaten you - cause you know - they sell guns. read more

This establishment is clean and convenient but they do have their flaws. It always takes roughly 20 minutes to get checked in and shoot, there is no rush for the young gentleman behind the counter. I have been in the military for 16 years and done a lot of shooting. Maybe seen a handful of bad primers, i had 2 bad primers in the re pressed ammo i purchased from behind the counter. My daughters (ages 18 and 7) and I had a great time at BASICS: Range & Gun. We felt safe, had excellent safety instruction, and a fun time target shooting with different guns. Shooting and handling guns was something I had been fearful and ignorant of but I wanted to try target shooting and to experience it as a skill. Been going tho basics for a little over 3 months. Never had a problem. Staff is very helpful and polite. You can bring your own ammo they just have to use a magnet on them to make sure the ammo is same for their range. Beside that great place to bring your family's to shoot read more

I highly recommend the new shooter course with Josh. He is a very caring and knowledgeable instructor with a hands on teaching style that was very effective. We shot close to 15 different types of handguns and he described the features of each so you can figure out what type of gun is right for you. First time going to this place today and will never go back , my wife and I went here to shoot on our day off and we get there and the guy behind the counter explains to me that I have to buy a membership or I have to use their ammo for reasons of people bringing armor piercing and green tipped rounds Explains the reasons why I use their ammo. I tell him he can check my ammo if he likes. Will not check my ammo. So if I have a membership I can use my own ammo but if I don't then I have to use yours. That's a money making scam to me , either use my ammo or buy a membership. Either way they are going to get the money out of you. Went to on target sports where I was treated great and they had no problem inspecting my ammo , letting me use it and I didn't have to buy a membership. Same price for a day pass as basic range and gun. If you live in op just go to on target and don't waste your time. read more

My wife and I took the New Shooter course offered by BASICS: Range & Gun. Our instructor, Jeff, did a great job of educating us on the different types of guns and the best practices for gun safety. We had the opportunity to shoot a variety of different gun types and calibers. It was really cool to feel how the guns felt when shooting them. Just wanted to write a review for my experience at BASICS today, with an employee named Berry. The range states that it allows shotguns, they will charge you a $3 fee however, presumably to offset damage caused to the building from the shell projectiles. Okay, understandible. I get going with the shotgun, having a great time. Berry walks over to me and lets me know I need to aim a little lower. Alright, awesome no worries, I aim lower and things are fine. The cardboard target gets destroyed, and I request to have another put up. Berry tells me "Why? So you can just blow holes in another? Wait for it to fall to the floor, then I'll change it." This is where berry steps up to me, lets me know he isn't going to charge me $3 this time to replace the cardboard (I had already been charged from the get go) but mockingly tells me "theres a reason we put targets on the cardboard.." with a look on his face that suggested he was being an asshole. My buddy notices and we both agree, that's ridiculous and disrespectful to treat customers this way. We pack up our things to leave, and pay for our visit. Berry comes out, I explain to him I felt he could have handled that situation better. I explain I won't be returning after this visit. He tells me "Quite frankly we can't afford to have you shoot here." What kind of sense does that make?! It's a $3 cardboard cutout Berry, of which I was CHARGED from the get go. Can't afford to swap out cardboard cutouts here guys... BASICS can't "afford it". Turns out Berry is a ex COP, explains why his people skills are so poor. BASICS, I loved you guys, you've helped me order gun parts, were my first point of contact for shooting for years, I had planned to take a concealed shooting course next month. But this experience was inexcusable, Berry would benefit greatly from a basic course in customer service. That is two customers who live locally that won't shoot at your range again. read more

I took the Concealed Weapons course and found it very helpful. Knowledgeable instructors and a VERY thorough curriculum. 3.5 hours altogether, including about 20 minutes shooting. Very hands-on and user friendly. I am new to guns and this made me very comfortable. I intend to take their New Shooter course as well. read more

Picked up 2 firearms I dropped off for cleaning about a week ago. The service was great! My revolver was clean as if it were brand new and my rifle the same. This after taking my revolver to another local shop for cleaning and it looked like it did when I took it to them. And, they guys here are actually friendly and courteous! I have hardly ever been in a gun shop where they greeted you when you walked in and actually acted as if you were a person/customer. Most gun dealers employees look as if you're bothering them by even being in their store. I will be a return customer for cleaning my other firearms and possibly be using their range. read more

I took the Basic Handgun Course yesterday at Basics. I've always been intimidated by firearms and never thought I would own one. The instructors were very considerate to the novice shooter. I found I'm not a great shot but they were very encouraging. The class was informative and had some humor thrown in and the 4 hours flew by. I feared the staff would have no time for someone who knew nothing about firearms and would push opinions or treat me a certain way. I was completely worried about nothing. They are there to help, teach, and encourage you to keep yourself and your family safe. I'll be going there regularly to get more comfortable with my own firearm. only came here because the other place was down to only 6 lanes. When you first walk in your like... this is it? The main room is just basically empty. Cabinets had only a few guns for sale. They didnt have any other ammo for sale besides their own reloads which i wont shoot. And on the paper you have to sign when you go to shoot says you cant bring your own ammo if your shooting .223 or larger which i was about to just leave because of that then they said they didnt have any of their reloads for .223 so i could shoot my own. the actual lanes was ok. Older system but very well lit. They dont have range officers in there which was a little strange. You have to sweep up all your brass. Place would be alot better if they improved the main room when you walk in and get rid of the bible verses on the window and from their facebook page. I get it they are religious but this is a business and your customers are not all gonna be Christians. Religion is between you and your God and your church. read more
