Not only is it beautiful, but they have wonderful amenities you can use with a purchase of a spa service. I went with my mom for pre- wedding relaxation! She has been there many times. As a soon to be bride, I wanted a relaxing day with a good massage. I had the Himalayan Stone Massage and then the Lavender Body Scrub. Both were so relaxing! After check-in, they first showed us around and to the women's spa area. They give you robes, slippers, and towels and showed us how to use the lockers. I am 4'11, and wear a size 4 shoe- the small shoes fit me perfectly! They have a few relaxation areas, showers, changing rooms, a whirlpool, and a steam room. There are a few different hot tea flavors if you want tea. There is water available and some snacks (trail mix & crackers). Phone use is discouraged. My massage therapist was Yvette. She was wonderful!! She asked questions and kept me informed during the massage and body scrub, which left me comfortable and relaxed. She also managed to pinpoint all my knots and work them out! After my sessions, I tried the steam room. This is different than a sauna. Compared to other spas in the area that give massages, the price was not too much more expensive. I think you get more for your money since you get to use the amenities.

We each got a lavender body scrub and our skin felt soooo smooth after. Then she got a massage while I got a signature facial and both experiences were stellar. Unfortunately, what happened at the end of my visit completely changed my impression of the establishment. This was a birthday gift, and my massage had already been paid for before I arrived. After the service, my massage therapist Jean asked me, in front of everyone in the reception area, whether I wanted to leave a tip. I found this extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. Tipping is a personal decision, and if a gratuity is going to be discussed, I believe it should be handled discreetly and respectfully--not in front of other customers in a way that can make someone feel pressured or put on the spot. What makes this especially disappointing is that I truly enjoyed everything else about my visit. A simple, professional checkout could have left me wanting to return and recommend the spa to others. Instead, the way the tip was handled was enough to make me reconsider ever patronizing this establishment again. Customer experience doesn't end when the massage is over. The way you make a client feel when they leave matters just as much as the service itself. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because this was an avoidable situation that left a lasting negative impression on what otherwise could have been a wonderful experience.

We both had the Laurel type of treatments which is as free of chemicals as possible. One hour each preceded by fact questioning which was pertinent to the treatments. The Laurel line smells so wonderful, a combo of herbs that makes you feel so relaxed but not sleepy. Afterwards I was given a card to use since I live locally for future treatments so I could get a chance to receive a surprise after a certain number of treatments. I also received samples of the Laurel skin cleanser and the sunscreen. I did have the chance to use both and am so impressed by both. Just a smidgen of each applied has improved my complexion. Definitely going to set up regular follow up treatments. Also right after my facial, my complexion felt so calm and not inflamed though I had been following all the correct ways to keep a clearer complexion such as drinking plenty of water, not touching my face, sleeping with my hair pulled away from my face, using cleanser free of perfume, etc. The spa is so very clean and I was quite impressed.

I can honestly say that John is very intuitive and has a great sense of touch. MFR has personally changed my life and I no longer suffer from migraines and menstrual issues. It really is authentic whole body healing! I first met John at an advanced MFR seminar and I can immediately tell that he has a pleasant demeanor and a great sense of humor. He took the time to treat my arms and showed me self treatment techniques for my wrists, arms and shoulders and I am so appreciative. I also remember him really taking the time to help another therapist with an issue and to me that was a such a selfless act of kind and compassion. John is also the founder of Warrior Recovery Network, a much needed resource for veterans to receive myofascial release for PTSD and other ailments. It's a great way to share and bring myofascial release therapists that offer volunteer time to our serviceman an servicewoman and experience authentic healing. Please book your appointment with John and feel first hand how MFR can help you have a pain-free life! Thank you John for being you and having such a loving and caring heart!

The…read morefirst time I saw him I didn't know anything about MFR, so I was checking out the technique and finding out more about it. John took the time to explain what it was and some possible things I might experience, which was helpful. During our first session, a painful memory from my childhood came up, that I thought I had already let go of. With John's gentle guidance, I was able to truly heal it. I was able to release guilt and shame that I have carried for 30+ years and forgive myself for the first time. I also noticed over the next few days after my appt that I felt an increase in my self-esteem and self-confidence. I thought that was very interesting and wondered what other benefits I could experience from this fascinating work. I have had a lot of painful digestive problems for the last 20 years. I've seen many doctors and they had no idea what was causing it. They diagnosed it as "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" and several of them even told me to not come back because there was nothing they could do for me. As you can imagine, that did not help me with the nearly-constant pain that I was in. I booked a second appointment with John in the hopes of receiving some healing for this area. I was not disappointed. For the 4 days following that appt, I felt better than I ever had both physically and emotionally. I was full of love, joy and peace and my digestion was great and pain-free! This was absolutely astounding to me and a promising beginning to healing my digestive system. I know there are more things within my fascial, emotional and energetic system that need to be released/healed. One thing John told me during our first appt was "My goal is to get you to the place where you don't need to come back." I like that kind of attitude in a therapist. The sessions are worth every penny. Since then I have been doing some reading about MFR. I have discovered that by releasing areas of tightness in the myofascia, any number of shifts and changes can happen in the body on all levels (mind/body/emotions). It can help many different physical problems and issues because it doesn't just treat a symptom, but heals the problem. I do not understand how something so simple can have such profound results, but it does. It is clear that John cares deeply about people. He was fully present with me and I felt safe with him. His touch is warm and caring. He is non-judgmental, gentle, encouraging and creates a safe place to do healing work. He has taken a lot of MFR classes and is an expert in it. I highly recommend him.

I am in a female vocal singing group and we had a photo shoot recently where we had to recreate hairstyles from 3 different decades in 1 day. Each hairstyle was truly authentic (finger waves, anyone??) and really matched each of our personal styles. Brenda is so sweet and easy to communicate with, and her studio is a quiet oasis perfect for collecting yourself before a stressful big event! I can not recommend Brenda & her studio enough. Many times the stylist doesn't actually listen to me that I can't really do layers, I pretty much need a blunt cut. And then it will take nearly a year to grow out the bad cut. Not so with Brenda! She also has slightly fine, thin hair so she can relate completely. Not only did she listen to my needs for my haircut, she even recommended leaving just a bit more length than I was initially thinking. I like the resulting look, and if I hadn't, I appreciate erring on the side of caution, since it's much easier to cut more than to slowly grow out. She also had tips for where to part my hair and styling tips to help prevent breakage. Brenda was also nice enough to work me in for a same day appointment on very short notice. I'm so relieved to find a good, reliable stylist for Williamsburg!
