This is the best lake on the portage lake chain. it is also the busiest, mostly.

The setting is beautiful on Portage Lake so there is great ambiance sitting on the deck overlooking the lake. I would describe the menu as limited, there are entree's, salads, soups, sandwiches and specials, however the options just don't excite the palate. The quality of the food is ok. Pricing is high, considering entrees do not include any sides, those are all carte. They serve a basket of really good focaccia bread with Italian seasoning for each table. This too is limited as you cannot get additional orders of the bread, not even to purchase. The staff is very attentive, friendly and does seem to go above and beyond to provide guests with a good experience. Our server Drew was great.

It's a super fun day to get out on the lake and travel thru the chains, starting at Portage Yacht club and traveling up to Zuki Lake Tavern. This review is for the dining and facilities at PYC. We visited for dinner on a Saturday night and sat on the deck. They have a Prime Rib special that I was looking forward to. They have the customary fish fry Fridays and other specials as listed on their website. Reservations are required as they are limiting capacity. The host and waitstaff were all properly masked and gloved. Poor things looked so uncomfortable, as it was a muggy evening. The view from the deck is beautiful though the seating isn't the most comfortable. Plastic tables and chairs; some with umbrellas, are all well-spaced. I guess it's good enough for the season but for a yacht club, I would expect it to be a bit more comfortable and less casual. There wasn't a dress code so it was fine. Our server, Elena, was the absolute best. Super sweet, upbeat, hustler that kept the drinks full, anticipated your needs and made some great recommendations. I had the prime rib and husband had the Reuben. The sandwich was good, he reported. Nothing to get excited about but was enjoyable. The prime rib was not seasoned enough. The aus ju was seasoned beef broth and helped, as well as, the horseradish. Prices were reasonable but I would be much happier if they worked on their wine list. It was okay. Needs an update. Generous pours and the Mai Tai was excellent. Elena can sling a drink for sure. I think she hand stuffed my olives too. The facilities were once pretty cool but now are in need of some serious updating. Still a functional place but pretty dated. Great space for events, indoor and outdoor. Huge windows, hardwood floors, and great views. The membership rates are reasonable and we will consider more than a social membership next season.

It's at a state park, not sure if that was even mentioned. But I did call numerous times no one ever told me it would cost me 10.00 to park on top of the 35 45 bucks to canoe for two elderly adventurous people, just glad to be getting out to do something active for a change on a limited income. We both have bad knees, can't run handicap sticker in our car that is 20 years old (kind of lucky to have even made it)! I told the lady sitting at the park I can't afford 10 dollars she said well the web site says it cost to park, I said I did not see it any where on the web site. Talk about a ridiculous cost to park while you canoe. I said for even handicap senior citizens she said yes. I said Well I am not paying that, I can't afford that, we will figure out what else we can do. So I looked around for some place to park where we could walk into the park without paying couldn't find anywhere. So, we went to the one that is in ann arbor FREE PARKING. Ridiculous it would seem like something else could be figured out with this expensive cost. SENIOR CITIZENS: Do Not Go to Skips unless you want to pay another 10.00 on top of the cost of canoeing on a fixed income to let your car sit at a park for 3 or 4 hours. Totally Ridiculous! Vickie
