My son in law decided to have a last minute surprise birthday party here for my daughter and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. They gave us a private area in the back which was nice. We ordered several appetizers, salad and pizza and everything was excellent and plentiful. Eric communicated with my wife through the whole experience and was very helpful and thorough. We bought tickets to a show and had never been to an event here. Walked in, and there was an odor; it smelled like wet dog. The first person we encounter is the bartender. Politely ask where we can sit, as we arrived super early to eat dinner before the show. We were waved at to go sit somewhere at the bar and rudely told that if we didn't reserve a table, we were out of luck and walked away. That was fine, we didn't reserve a table and didn't realize. I asked if we could eat at the bar, and again was rudely told to sit. I can clearly see there are tables that do not have reserved signs. I asked the manager where we could eat, and he apologized and said we are just really busy, but you can sit at this metal disk and eat. We accepted, but it was obvious that everyone was just annoyed at having...customers. Go figure. The waitress was very nice; however, we felt like the whole setting just squashed our vibe for the night. We left and went somewhere else. It's a shame that customers are your biggest frustration. I use to work/run this place when it was The Lodge. So I have a different view and opinion than some rando. There's been a few changes of power since Base Camp launched and what they are currently is solid AF. The management cares about people and want to bring back elements of previous days. However those days are over. The entire world has shifted. Some people are hesitant to go out inflation is skyrocketing. Products and overhead cost way more. And... The service industry has been put on the spotlight more than ever. So you have people walking into establishments sometimes expecting something they read or saw on TV or heard Anthony Bourdain say. This place is doing a great job with what they are working with. It's not easy to fill a venue, nightly, that can hold over 700 people. Go in. Pay the cover. Enjoy your time. And tip the staff. What a fun winter escape! We came as a party of five on a Friday afternoon, and stayed until the slopes closed at 10 pm! All five of us skied, and rented. The process was relatively easy and quick- within 30 minutes we were ready to get moving. Three hills were open- all very manageable. The rope pulls are easy for all skills and age levels, and a great way to start skiing/snowboarding if you haven't been before (or are afraid of heights!). You can bring food into the lodge, or grab a quick snack from the cafe. We got some waffle fries and hot chocolate, and were energized and ready to ski! All around a fabulous experience! We will be back and plan to come for more night skiing!!! read more

This is a solid ZERO STARS establishment. I used to frequent when it was The Lodge, fun place especially right after a heavy snowfall... made you feel like you were genuinely at a ski resort. Now?!? Yikes. First, it smells like a basement that has been flooded multiple times and all they've done is run a few fans thinking that'll stop the mold. Second, the food is awful. We are still in a pandemic and waiters still wear masks and sanitize everything. While Ryan was a very friendly and attentive waiter, I was shocked that he pulled his mask down and stuck his nose in 2 shot glasses to smell which was which. The ladies bathroom smells like a porta potty and was told the major overhaul was on their to-do-list. Food is good some days depending on who is in the kitchen. Being a Tuesday I am sure you were not expecting a crowd but volley ball opened up so there was one. Tessa, our server, hostess, bartender and bus girl, busted her ass! I used to be a server and had a max of 8 tables. Today she had 13 at one time for multiple hours ordering food, drinks and needing service. She did it all!! You have an asset in Tessa, there are many servers who would have not been able to handle that pressure especially the night before her birthday! Volleyball courts outside, a couple of outdoor patios , domestic Beers were 5$ bucks . Had a burger and 3 tacos , food was good and reasonable. Snoop came on at 10:33 and entertained the crowd playing music from other artists and occasionally he would sing or rap along . It was exciting to see him so close and everyone was electric . To start with the positive, this place has live music and a decent sounding room. The bands they book are at least adequate and sometime excellent. The food is horrible and the service is worse. Prices are not out of control but when you see the food is glorified cafeteria food, the value is not there. If you are skiing at Four Lakes, there are not a lot of choices. If you are going for a band, it makes sense. I cannot imagine going for lunch or dinner or just to hang out because the service is so poor. read more

Horrible joke of a place MAINLY due to its "security employees". We were at the Puddle of Mudd show there and they had about 30 security employees there. A bit much but the thing that was upsetting was when I was in a stall going to the bathroom, I see a "security employee" look up over the door. I replied to him by "saying excuse me occupied", he simply "shhhed" me and continued to peek over the next stalls. I understand if there's a drug problem at your bar but you might want to handle it in a LEGAL manner. They are lucky I didn't file a complaint to ACTUAL authorities. read more

AS A COUPLE we were there to enjoy ourselves. Ppl wanted to dance because there was a live band. The manager was totally ignorant in his delivery and Instead of telling them they couldn't move the 2 small tables he told them they had to leave. Ppl paid a 10$ cover charge and the drinks are expensive. The manager has no idea of what customer service is, has no idea how to treat customers, & besides that he has a god type attitude. He should NOT be in that type of business nor position. I do know that the bar business is stressful BECAUSE i have been in the business since i was able to bartend ... i am now 70 (have my own bar for many years). As a person in business I would never put up with his attitude considering the idea is to make money and not to loose any. He might be too young to handle different types of personalities. If he was concerned about ppl spreading covid dancing, then he should had said something. If his concern was spreading covid then he should not had been walking around with his mask covering only his mouth. i WILL NEVER go to your establishment again and NEVER recommend going to your place. My impression of a place is comfort, a good time, prices, & CUSTOMER SERVICE as well. There is a way to deal with ppl, customers being happy brings them back plus they bring their friends, the more fun they have the more they spend. The place was off the chain, 2 White Crew was playing and it was awesome!!! This male bartender was rude! I am a type 1 diabetic and I needed immediate sugar, the grill was closed. I found oranges they serve in the drinks and I know they are not for eating but again I needed an immediate rush of sugars. The bartender was rude in telling me not to eat them. I mean he could have asked why I was doing it and I would have explained. I felt like he was stuck up and snotty. I stopped going to him for my friends drinks and waters as he was rude. The other females were very nice. I would rate this place 5 stars but based off the male bartender attitude I can't. Service is what he is there for! If you live in the Four Lakes area, this is a really cool bar to go to. I don't live in that area, but my friend does, so every time I visit him we stop in to the Basecamp bar. My 5 stars are based on a couple of factors, but I'd say if you don't live in that direct vicinity, it's not something to really go out of your way for. The concept the that whole neighborhood is great. You live there, you have a ski hill, and a cool bar / restaurant at the bottom. It has a pool for the warm summer months. You really don't even need to leave the neighborhood. I'm jealous....sort of wish I lived in this neighborhood. As for the Basecamp bar / restaurant itself:. It's a big place. Plenty of seating, and they have a lot of big screens to watch the games. The food is pretty good. They now have a lot of entertainment, and on the weekends they have bands playing live. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place that I have to write this review. When the new ownership took over from "The Lodge" I had high hopes that they'd clean the place up and class it up a bit. If you put a t-shirt on all the people in here that said "Classy As F**k" in a cursive pattern, that would be my caricature of the joint. The food is good and our order was correct, so they get 2 stars for that. I've come in here about 3x over the last year as I live in the area. Each time it's gotten worse. The servers are seriously dumber and more oblivious than the morons that work at Bar Louie. I'm not sure if they're drunk, high, overworked, or taken by ennui that they just seem totally out of it. Last night a date and I went in- there were like 4 servers strolling around and it took about 10 minutes for one of them to even acknowledge our presence. The nonchalance when he asked us if we wanted a drink made me laugh~ like "WTF do you think I came here for, the ambience and world-class cuisine?" The young gals working there were playing the "hot ditz" card, so thank God we got a guy waiter. I will say-- the food since Basecamp took over is seriously good bar food. The burger is always good, I love the pizza, and the appetizers are good when you come in for drinks and get hungry. The kitchen has always been decent, so yay for that. And our waiter got our order right (including the pizza)- so kudos to that. The last thing that annoyed the s**t out of me... the dogs on the patio. I LOVE dogs. I think they are awesome. But when some sh**bag brings his dog to a restaurant and the dog begs at my table for food? F that. Since the clientele can't class up to have their dogs under control- I vote that one patio is for dogs and their lowlife owners, the other one for people only. Whatever.. I think I'm done with this place. I like the idea of it as I live in Lisle and it's got potential, but they just can't control all the variables to make it a nice place. Terrible establishment. Sold 600+ people tickets for a DMX concert. The concert was a disaster. They sold more tickets than the venue could hold, and turned people who had already purchased tickets away. Massive private security guards beat people up and literally threw people out for no reason. Then worst of all, DMX didn't even show up, and rather than issue refunds Basecamp claimed private "vendors" sold all tickets and refunds must come from them. Basically Basecamp scammed over 600 people out of $30 for a fake DMX concert. Also at one point someone was literally thrown through a glass wall and had to go to the hospital. read more

Great customer service! We had an issue with our order and it was handled so professionally. The manager came and spoke to us and apologized for what happened. This place was a total disaster from the food to the organization of the Ryan Key event. I will never go back there and will make sure to tell everyone I know to never go there. The pizza tasted like it was store bought and frozen. The event Ryan Key was supposed to start at 8:00 it didn't start until 10:00 and Ryan didn't go on until midnight then on top of that he only did a do session he didn't do a solo acoustic session as was advertised. Then when I asked for a refund I was told to call and talk to a manager. The whole place and organization of the place is one big mess. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews and will let a lot slide but unfortunately we've had a really terrible experience with BaseCamp. We ordered out today and when we opened everything up we were charged for everything we ordered and the receipt was correct but unfortunately our order was not. We ordered a regular Mac and cheese which we were charged for but received a kids one and the cheese was extremely watery. We ordered jalapeño poppers which we never received and we ordered a DOUBLE decker blt which came in only a SINGLE blt it had an abundance of lettuce and only half of the sandwich had bacon on it. The worst part was when we called to speak with someone the phone was never answered so we left a message only to never receive a call back. This is our first experience with this restaurant and unfortunately it will be our last. read more

Wanted to give a zero. Went here with my husband and friends to listen to music and celebrate being out again. The drinks were watered down and over priced. The "manager" I use that term lightly is very immature and cannot handle his position. There was a live band. So naturally we wanted to dance. He ran over and started screaming like a child rather than maturely saying "I'm glad you want to enjoy yourselves but unfortunately due to Covid we can't allow dancing."
