When I shared that I hoped to compete at a high level and possibly even the Olympics, I was told, "sorry to burst your bubble, but you'll never make it to the Olympics." This was extremely discouraging and not something a young athlete should hear from a coach. After my parent followed up, I was allowed to join the pre-team for a trial period. During those two weeks, I experienced a lack of support. One athlete was consistently rude to me, and when I struggled with a bars skill, a coach responded in a way that made me feel embarrassed rather than helped. At the end of the trial period, I was told I would hear back about whether I made the team, but I never received any communication. Overall, the environment felt unsupportive and unprofessional. I believe young athletes deserve encouragement, respect, and clear communication, which I did not experience here.

That kind of growth goes far beyond the mats, and it speaks volumes about the environment Professor Todd creates. I've been hesitant because of the injury and arthritis in my knee, but I decided to check out Evolve and take their Muy Thai class. I've never done any type of striking marital arts but I decided to take a free trial class. I was impressed with the facility and the other members. Everyone was welcoming and patient knowing it was my first ever Muy Thai class. Todd the owner/instructor has created the best vibe/culture for his school. He keeps the classes engaging and fun. It's not easy learning the techniques but it has become a little more comfortable after a couple of weeks. I like the variety of class times, which is helpful with my work schedule. I may eventually look into going back to taking some Jiu Jitsu classes here at Evolve. If you're looking for a place that is not intimidating, but challenging then check out Evolve. Todd's been awesome in my transition to Muy Thai.

Ruben and the rest of the OCX…read moretraining staff are very knowledgable when it comes to baseball skills & techniques, and most importantly they are extremely good at teaching them how to perform the fundamental skills safely to prevent injury. My husband and I not only appreciate what the coaches know, but we are also continually impressed that the coaches are good teachers and offer constructive & positive re-enforcement, and that they're tough-love kind of coaches. You can know a lot and be a crappy teacher, but that's not the case with these guys! While the facility offers cage time, private lessons, and group & team training - our sons have had the privilege to play on their OCX Baseball Academy teams. From a parents point of view, our boys have learned a lot from being on these teams. They fully understand the concept of "earned" playing time now. We are grateful for less of the political "BS" that goes on in the local rec leagues - and even more grateful to not be experiencing "Daddy ball" or "coach Dad" anymore.

Parents were not pros at identifying the various items out on the floor and it was a minefield to navigate it all so you could easily turn an ankle on equipment. I watched a couple little girls stumble and start crying because of this. The bday had a game that 2 staff members ran but otherwise they were largely absent on the gym floor. There was no instruction, no structure otherwise. Kids wandered between the bounce house to every piece of equipment with total access. As a parent I kept close to my child to help him but I liked other party venues a lot better because they had staff to get involved and show safe ways to use equipment they had put on the floor. On a hot day over 80 degrees there was no a/c except up in the upstairs party room. I was very hot and uncomfortable as were the kids. Thankfully I brought my son's water to keep him hydrated. Everyone was sweaty and gross. Add to that the venue did not require socks, it seemed a ripe environment for athletes foot or other germs to flourish as I did not notice the equipment or mats looked particularly clean. Nobody was cleaning after use either like at other venues. Overall, nice idea but I think staff needs to think about execution of a bday party better. There is a wide variety of equipment but no instruction, little space between the equipment, and random jump boards everywhere that I don't think 5 yr olds were equipped to navigate well.
