I have walked down this street many times but LOL on the other side not that I'd noticed if I'd…read morewalked the other side and never seen this business. It's a filipino grocery store but it's also a catering service and they sell take away food. It's what I call "hiding in plain sight". The owner of the only other filipino store in Amsterdam referred me here. It's much closer to where I live. I love it. Why? Do you say? Well, because the owner, Gina, will cook any filipino dish you desire in the quantities you desire to take home. You can call in and preorder, go in and visit and order or buy whatever she's already got cooked. She's very friendly. As a matter of fact I'm hoping she'll adopt me and expect me for dinner regularly. Ok maybe not. So here's the deal. She told me they'd just catered a 150 person private party of which of course all the attendees were all avid filipino food lovers, filipinos, expats, internationals and dutchies. She'll cook for one or many. So I'm going to arrange a dinner for our local Yelpies. I am not going to do this often because I don't want you all to get spoiled and wear out my new source LOL. The owner does it because she loves cooking. She doesn't want the drudgery of operating and running a restaurant. How much does it cost? It's not expensive well depending on how much you want to eat.... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinoy-Tayo-Store/436474289725247

I have no idea what dishes I ordered. I'm not familiar with Filipino kitchen, so just asked what…read morewas what. We had some veal and chicken, with nasi. It all tasted pretty decent. To me it lacked some spice or kick. If for instance Indian food is too spicy for you, Mr. Pinoy is the way to go. I have no comparison, because this was the first time ever I had Filipino food. It all seemed a little fat as well. But, it tasted ok. The guy who helped me was really friendly and they've only been open for two weeks. At the moment you need to pay cash. But that will be fixed in two weeks and they're working on delivery. Three stars at this point, spice it up some more and this could be really good.

I've been to Mr Pinoy at least 5 times already and have been pleased every time. The Philippines…read morehas over 7000 islands so the flavours differ depending on the region. The owners are from Pampanga, which is renowned to be one of the foodie regions of the country. It's a land locked region that had a significant Spanish influence, so expect a lot of meats (pork, chicken and beef). Flavors tend to be savory, sometimes sweet and often rich. This is not diet food! If you want it spicy, ask for a side sauce to add to it - they'll happily oblige - but the food will not come spicy. It's just not part of the cuisine, the spice is added after. Particularly good at Mr Pinoy are: 1. Longanisa - sweet and savory sausage that is usually served with eggs and rice 2. Tocino - sweet and savory pork belly also served with eggs and rice. They also have a chicken version that I didn't try yet. 3. Bulalo - beef shank soup 4. Liempo - grilled pork belly 5. Crisy Pata - deep fried pork knuckle 6. Menudo - Stew with garlic, onions, diced pork, diced potatoes, soy sauce, vinegar, tomato sauce and some other ingredients To those familiar with Filipino cuisine, give them a call a head of time so you can find out what they're cooking for the day, or they can prepare what you like or get the grill fired up for fresh liempo. You can eat in or take out. Their toko is also well stocked and with much better prices than some of the larger Asian markets. PLUS - they have the hot & spicy vegetarian chicharron that I fell in love with the last trip to the Philippines.
