Very relaxing rustic get away. Staff, food and facilities and wonderful. We had our 3 and 5 year olds there and they had the best time.

I am just returned from a three night stay at Holiday Inn Oakville (Ontario, Canada) for a…read morecombination of a little work and vacation. While my time in that area was most enjoyable and even at times, spectacular, in truth this accommodation was the least memorable part of the trip, and perhaps that is a good thing. The facility is right off the Queen Elizabeth Way, making it convenient and potentially, noisy. Luckily, I had a room with inside balcony, making for a quiet time. I overlooked the indoor pool which was not overly utilized, so it worked well for me. Beds were comfy, bathroom renovated, and room maintenance minimal by the staff. I had a ton of privacy. Only knock was the slow shower drain, which necessitated quick showers to avoid overflow. No biggie, but obvious that no one checks these things on a regular basis. The location was minutes from downtown Oakville, which turned out to be a blessing. My first time there, I was impressed by how well the town was planned out. Beautiful main streets, lovely nearby neighborhoods that I could see myself living in. Restaurants galore, with every ethnicity represented. My favorite meal was only 6 minutes from the front door. Made reservations through Trivago and Booking.com. Easy peasy, and priced very competitively. I would definitely stay there again if I had reason to return to Oakville, 50 km west of downtown Toronto.

This is a decent hotel option near the GO station in Oakville. This hotel is much more moderate in cost and the proximity to the GO Train allows easy access to downtown. Also, as an IHG Spire member, I am predisposed to seek out properties in this hotel family. Arriving at Pearson, I took a taxi from there to the hotel. The cost was $58 CAD flat rate plus tip. On my last stay, I had a room on the 6th floor. This worked well for me and afforded a nice view of the area. My room was clean and spacious with a pleasant decor. The bathroom was functional with an adequate amount of space. The TV offered a decent array of programming. The work area was good size and the WiFi functioned without any major issues. The bed was comfortable and the environs were quiet allowing me to get good sleep. There was a restaurant in the hotel offering an option for breakfast. I took advantage of this one morning and it was so-so. However, there were also two or three places within walking distance of the hotel. We went to Whole Foods one morning and Sunset Grill on another. The room rates were not bad for the quality of the stay and the location. The average daily rate was about $146 CAD. My total bill was just over $501 CAD for three nights with all taxes included. This was a pretty good deal. As such, I would not hesitate to recommend this place if you need a hotel in Oakville for business in Oakville or Mississauga or if you need an alternative to a downtown hotel.

We stayed here a lot longer than we had planned and the staff was very accommodating to our…read moreswitching schedules. The Suite had a bedroom, a living room & kitchenette off of the living room. Both rooms have AC running and was super loud. The first night I didn't know we could switch off the AC in the rooms separately so it was running all night and kept me up. The 2nd night I turned off the bedroom AC and kept the living room one on with open bedroom door. That worked out better for a good night's sleep. The mattress was comfortable enough and so were the pillows. Our stay was made comfortable by the staff and front desk people. They sent up meds and food for us because we got Covid during our stay with them. They are very nice but I think their Covid protocol is very lax. Upon checkout, we had the housekeeping lady rush us to get out and she didn't wear a mask! Out of concern for her, I told her we have had Covid and she really shouldn't be here to clean for another 2 days. Also, she should have a mask on. While I was leaving, I see her with no masks on working on the room across the hall and she has mentioned that she'd work on our room next. So I rushed downstairs to tell the front desk of the situation because I felt an ethical duty to inform them and front desk called the floor management. They spoke to her but they said they couldn't inform me what the current Covid protocol was. They had no idea if it's 2 days wait time before room cleaning/rebooking for the next guests or immediate rebooking. It seems to me that it was immediate reassigned rooms since they cleaned it as soon as we left. Also, no idea if other guests would be informed of the room being used by Covid guests. So, infortunately I am giving this hotel a 1 star, but if it weren't for the Covid risky protocol, I would give this hotel a 3 stars. Another interesting thing about this unit is that they provided cookware and knives there for guest usage. I've never seen such a huge knife at a hotel in my life! It was ginormous!

It's also located in a plaza that has some great meal options and enjoyments -- like indoor skydiving. The hotel uses the same parking lot that means ample spaces. The overall hotel was very clean during our stay. Our king room was quite spacious and included a pullout sofa bed and kitchenette. I don't know what fragrance this place uses, but it smelled like a Pottery Barn in the best of ways. Continental breakfast was also included that made having to scour for food with two kids under 5 less stressful. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we're in the area!

Unfortunately some negatives, such as cleanliness. Our room was dusty with our stove top fan filter caked in dust, with other areas such as top of lights looked to never been dusted. We also had our room cleaned once during our week stay and they barely hand washed the dishes, still dirty and left them drying there which was odd. Should have had new clean dishes put away. Our shower also leaked and you could hear water dripping when using the sink as well. Rooms need more maintenance. We also found the front desk to be unmanned quite often, for long periods of time which was frustrating and somewhat concerning from a security stand point. This place has potential, just needs better cleaning, better maintenance and consistent staff at the front.

Heading towards elevators was nice, esthetics and all. Got to our first room, open the curtains and I saw nasty bits of ashes or something and a dead bug by the window. On top of that, view was probably an air conditioner. Ew and nope. So, we got another room. We came armed with gloves, Lysol wipes, Lysol spray and 99% isopropyl alcohol. After wiping and spraying everything, we felt close to being comfortable and relaxed. But, I must say my kids found a bottle of lube side of the sofa. OMG. Would I return or recommend this hotel? No.

I was very happy with my room, it was clean and modern and very spacious. I had a large King bed, a sofa, a desk with lots of workspace, and plenty of lighting. The bathroom had tons of lighting and a shower only (no bulky bathtub to worry with). Hotel has plenty of free parking, an indoor pool with hot tub, and a small fitness center if you're into that sort of thing. The staff wasn't the most friendly bunch, but it's hard to blame them with the current strained Canada / U.S. relationship. We are living in crazy times for sure. Do take note all Hhonors Diamond members: your $10 per person credit benefit is NOT VALID in the pantry and only on continental breakfast. We learned this the hard way after dropping $20 on sodas and snacks. It works different in Canada than it does in the U.S.A. I'd stay at this hotel again if I was passing through the area. It's a good, solid Garden Inn.
