Grab the special here (Staffordshire oatcake wrap filled with fried eggs, bacon, cheese, and black pudding) plus a tea--this is one of the few reasons I'm not a vegetarian (and the only time I will eat black pudding). This was such a transformative sandwich that I plan to return to Alsager (~2 hrs from London) for this alone.
FOOD: Oatcakes for foreign visitors (me!) are thin, savory pancakes with (you guessed it) oats, lending it a hearty texture and taste absent in traditional American pancakes.
The special here is a savory delight (oatcake wrap filled with fried eggs, bacon, cheese, and black pudding) and manages to satisfy hunger without drowning you in grease (impressive, considering its ingredients!).
Bap (egg sandwich on fluffy roll) was good here as well.
Tea was excellent (low expectations considering the packaging were soundly exceeded)!
SERVICE: Friendly owners serve customers at the counter. For customers who take issues with oatcakes served in a bag, I advise you to never sample local fare in Asia.
AMBIANCE: A deli-style setup with a few tables for two outside. Nearby park benches might be more accommodating for groups. As a visitor, this felt like a very special glimpse into English small town life (the others in here were clearly regulars who are likely not on Yelp--so please be considerate should you pay a visit :) ). read more
